This review is for the Meinl Percussion Drum Box with free bag BC1NTWR. This is a nice looking cajon made from birch plywood. It is very well made and has a very good sound. I bought two of these cajons for my grandsons, 7 and 10 years old for Christmas. They loved them. Even though I bought them from my grandsons, I think any adult would pleased with the quality and sound of this instrument. As far as the free bag, I was expecting something cheaply made, but it is a really nice, very sturdy bag. I would definitely recommend these cajons.

These are as good as the LP's and less expensive. Sometimes I replace the hi-hat with these guys - I cross the handles and fit both in one hand. Great for a 16th note feel, because you have a front and back cycle, easier than doing it on a hi-hat when the volume goes up - especially since I always have a vocal mic and it picks them up. I almost always use them on recordings. They definitely punctuate the feel.

I bought these to take apart. I wanted to use one side section to ring outside for a holiday kettle collection day. I pried off a side without too much effort or damage and mounted those five or six bells on their own paddle. The Rotary club was very happy to have them and used them to set a new record for a one-day collection. I will probably take the rest apart to make some other similar projects. That said, these are just fine as assembled by the seller, very musical, very authentic for orchestral uses. I've tried to buy good bells elsewhere, with no luck, so this creative destruction solved my problem.

A group from our church go out every year to the local hospital and elderly care facility to sing Christmas carols for them. I wanted to find a set of bells to take along with me this year. Let me tell you these Meinl Percussion SLB25 Sleigh Bells exceeded my expectations. These provide that perfect old fashioned sleigh bell sound that even Santa himself would approve of. They can be shaken slightly to produce a softer bell sound or you can really throw them briskly to announce your arrival. Don't worry ... they'll hear you coming. Heavily made and should provide years of use. I stupidly dropped them straight down on the asphalt parking lot with no ill effects! I highly recommend these to liven up any Christmas gathering you may attend.

I bought these to add music to my daily commute with 2 year olds. A different set broke the first trip. These are solid construction, good quality and VERY, VERY loud...too loud for using in a closed car. But great for anywhere else. Would recommend them and I would purchase them again.

I just received my CAJON.... and it looks ¡GREAT! Just as expected Greetings to all I must say I was skeptical and a bit hesitant about purchasing this musical instrument online. I am a musician (bass, classical guitar, charango) & it is my preference to purchase my instruments at the store. You know, that feeling of trying out the instruments before you buy kind of thing. Anyhow... I opened up the box &, I must admit, I was surprised by the quality of the gig bag. ¡Superb! ... Not the cheap quality material you find anywhere. Very rugged & well made. Very spacious by the way. The cajon fits perfectly in the bag. NOW, the CAJON (kah-hOwn).... BEAUTIFUL. The wine red finish makes it look sharp. He he he he. Just as expected. It completely met my expectations. Yes, I had some cajon time right there for about 5 minutes. It's got great sound. Very clear & deep where it's gotta have it. The snare is clear, also, and not over the top. Overall, this is a great product. I am very satisfied with it. BTW... it's not for me, but my wife. It's a gift for her. She loves percussion instruments and she's been asking me for a cajon for the longest time ever. I'm sure she's gonna love it. Gabbo

I did a lot of research to find maracas for my husband that he could play in his band. There are a lot of maracas for children, and I had to filter through and find some that are meant for serious play by an adult. These are good and sturdy, comfortable to hold and loud enough to hear when he performs, even competing with screaming guitars, pounding bass and drums. I highly recommend these to musicians and anyone who wants high-quality maracas.

As you can see from the photos, this is not an under sized cajon. I am 6-1, 195 and find it comfortable. The only Con I can find with this cajon is the snare is noticeable when striking bass note. Of course you cannot expect a $100 cajon(that comes with a $30 or more case) to have the separation and tonal abilities of a $300 cajon. I did find that I needed to adjust the corners, even though Meinl says ready to play no adjustment needed, to suit my tastes. Now for the Pros: Cajon is well constructed, nice rounded edges, rubber feet on bottom, sounds very good, good bass volume(the snare on bass note is not that noticeable to those listening I am told) and includes a really nice case. I find no reason to not to recommend this cajon. Even if the case were not included it outclasses anything near it's price. Look at the finish and the interior construction (visible through the rear port/sound/mike hole) in the photos I have included and I think you will purchase this cajon. Also the case as I said is really nice with nylon web straps for handles, a HD nylon zipper with metal lockable loop, cordura-like woven nylon outer for durability, thin but dense foam padding, and a less abrasive but tough nylon inner lining.

This is a great accompaniment for a guitarist or hand drummer who wants to add a bit of hands-free shaker sound. I love the adjustable strap, which works better than the elastic of the foot tambourine Meinl offers. I like that the shaker portion is exactly the same as the finger-mounted version, which means I have two options to get the same sound when I play.

Purchased this cajon to be played in a church band. The cajon itself is lightweight which is good since it is frequently moved about. However, it doesn't mean that it's cheaply made. It is firmly and solidly constructed. The wood and materials are very high quality as it delivers a very rich sound which fills the room. Little force is needed to create a rich loud boom. Needless to say, the carrying case that it comes with is incredibly useful for transporting it while protecting it from the elements. Overall, I was highly impressed by the quality of both the structure and the sound of this cajon and for the price, I would definitely recommend the Meinl Cajon to anyone in the market for a similar instrument.
