Works great only after you replace the suction cups

I got this because I did not want to have a soap dish on top of the kitchen sink to hold soap and sponge. As others noted the suction cups are the worst part of this product. When I mounted this on my hand-hammered copper-sink (not smooth) one of the suction cups would hold perfect and the other would fail immediately. I tried cleaning and wiping dry, but it would still not stick. Since I had expected the suction cups to not stick based on all the other reviews I read, I placed an order at the same time for an "Adams Manufacturing 6000-74-3040 2-1/2-Inch Suction Cup Hook" Adams Manufacturing 6000-74-3040 2-1/2-Inch Suction Cup Hook, Large, 2-Pack also from Amazon. I removed the suction cup from the Gia holder, removed hooks from the Adams suction cups and installed them on the Gia holder. The larger suction cups mount perfectly to the Gia holder. The Adams suction cups are larger and not fallen since I installed it a month ago. The Gia holder blends in with the copper color. The Adams suction cups are large but transparent and don't stand out. I also got a Hayden soap dispenser The Original Hayden Autosoap - Premium Automatic Touchless Soap Dispenser - Fingerprint Resistant Brushed Stainless Steel - Hand Sanitiser compatible - (NEW Waterproof Base!) and my kitchen sink is now neat and tidy.

Great little sponge holder

Great sponge holder. It is low profile and sticks well. I wet it a little before I stick it. Initially I tried to cancel the order but was unsuccessfil. But now I love it that I decided to keep it. I can throw the wet sponge with soaps into it without having to worry about dripping soap and water onto counter top. Looks like it can fit two sponges. But I like the fact that I can throw in a sponge with ease (fast) while doing dishes. Very convenient and I am glad it bought it. Updated 06/30/2016 I wrote the original review on Sept 19, 2014. It is 06/30/2016 and I am still using the same one in my sink. Actually I have 2 since then. One for each sink. Both bought about the same time. They still sticks. And no rust at all until now.

Nice and reliable, holds a decent amount of weight without losing suction.

I have the copper, it's a nice rose gold-y copper. I've had it stuck to the mirror in my bathroom for 3 months with no issue - it hasn't fallen off once despite the frequent steamy showers. I've been using it to hold a couple of makeup sponges (think beauty blenders), a pack of blotting papers, and some hydrocolloid bandages. I am ordering a second for my kitchen for the sponge since I've been so happy with the one in my bathroom. I think this is a safe purchase :) If you have trouble with rubber suction cups sticking, always make sure to clean the surface area you're trying to have them adhere to thoroughly - a lysol wipe or something works for me - and then let it dry completely before applying the suction cups. I follow this practice and it works with even super cheap products like this or my sink splash guards.

Great little gadget!

OK...I give up. Go ahead...call me weird!! But I LOVE this little sponge holder!! Here's why: it looks nice & inconspicuous in my sink, its a basket so I can put other things in it, like a Brillo pad. And it sticks far enough away from the wall of the sink that air can circulate. And now that another reviewer mentioned getting TWO so that he has one for the sink stoppers that are always sitting by the sink, I just ordered ANOTHER one too. And I'm not sorry I just didn't buy the bigger one, because I want my sponge to air out and dry and don't want a pile of stuff in a single holder. Lastly, I bought the brushed chrome because it matched my decor, but I see that its available in MANY colors, which gives me ideas for bathrooms, showers, etc...

One fine gadget

The best little gadget I've ever owned. Never again will I hunt for the sponge to clean the tub. Why didn't someone think of this sooner. It is well constructed. nicely finished, the suction cups are adequate although they adhere better at the front of the tub where it is wet than in the rear of the tub where it is dryer.

Yes, It Sticks--For About a Year

I wanted something to hold a sponge and metal scrub pad so that they didn't make a mess of the back of my sink, and don't sit in a pool of dirty water. This solved the problem for me. It's large enough to hold those two items, and yes, it does stay stuck to the side of my steel sink (at least so far, after a couple of months). It doesn't rust, it's solid, and I recommend it. Update: After several months of use I'm still happy with this, although I've found that in order to keep the suction cups working well, I have to clean them once in a while. Not a lot to ask. Second update: I've been using this for a year on my stainless steel sink. About once every couple of weeks it slides down. I wash the suction cups and the part of the sink where I want it to stick and it's good for another couple of weeks. The suction cups are definitely flattening, though, and if I can find some reasonably priced replacements I'll get them. Third update: After about a year the suction cups were flat and would no longer stick. I removed them and found two small suction cups with steel hooks at the hardware store and hung the basket on the hooks. Works fine and should be good for at least another year.

The Magnificent Future of a Humble Sponge Caddy

I had a plastic one that I got very cheap at my local store, but it cracked. Also, I had to wash that one all the time to keep it from looking grimy. I don't like plastic and it's a relief to no longer have to repress negative feelings every time I stand at my sink. Anyway, when I saw this little guy, for $6.99, I just threw caution to the wind and went for it. It looks much better than the plastic one, and stays much cleaner, much longer, since it is metal and open, not closed. I am so fond of this little sponge caddy, I am ordering another one for my utility sink. I did not realize that you can choose different finishes, so this time I will go for the "brushed" metal, which should look very swag. The suction cups work just fine--it sticks to the side of my stainless steel sink like a cheap suit, and if/when it does disengage, easy enough to stick right back on. (Not sure if it sticks just as well to other sink surfaces.) It holds two medium-size sponges perfectly, allowing them to drip into the sink whilst they dry and air out. A beautiful thing to behold. It is small enough that you can still use the sink and it doesn't get in the way. Will it change your life? Yes, it will make your life just a little bit better. Is it the best thing since sliced bread? Sliced bread is vastly overrated, so this is even better than sliced bread. Will it last forever? Probably not--in my experience, metal things that get wet all the time eventually rust, but it is showing NO signs of it so far. I expect it to have a long and productive life. And, when it goes to the metal scrapyard, it will be recycled into another useful object for another grateful human in a future world.

Much better than fancier caddies

I used an OXO caddy for a few months (which cost way more) and it kept getting mold under the inner rubber lining no matter how much a scrubbed it and it wasn't dishwasher friendly. I took a risk and bought this very simple caddy and have found it to be stable, non rusting , and dishwasher safe (not the suction cups of course). It is so easy to maintain and takes up far less space in my sink. It can hold 1 or 2 sponges and a small scrub brush. Perfect!

If you don't buy this, you're kidding yourself

This is one of those cheap purchases you make that pay off big. I honestly can't imagine my life without this product. I go to other people's houses and judge them when I see their sponges, just LYING THERE on the counter or the bottom of the sink. What are you, an animal? Get some self respect! Don't you realize what is happening to that sponge? If you're lucky you can nuke it in the microwave long enough to bring it back to life, but otherwise, that thing is a soaking bacteria garbage barge. Put it in its place! ...and then I realize that this person's sponge doesn't have a place, because they were never smart enough to buy a suction cup sponge holder that helps dry your sponge out and keeps your sink looking orderly. Their sponge is homeless and their sink is a disgrace.. Don't be like them. Live your life like its worth a damn.

I have had NO problems with this thing!

I have had NO problems with this thing! I mean, it is not a complex object. It does what it says it will do. And let me clarify and quantify that statement; as I normally hate when people say that about a product. This sponge holder does, in fact, stick to the inside of the sink. I have switched the side of sink where I stick it, and no matter what, it sticks. If and when I remove it, I first wet the suction cups with a drop of water on each cup- plain and simple. I have had it for just over a month, and it is still standing, and not rusting. It's decent looking and of course, matches the color of my sink.(I had a White sink interior once-yuck!) I will probably be buying another one to give to my twin sister, as she is panning to move into her new place soon. So yes, I would recommend this item! Buy it!
