I bought this for my toddler (18 months) to color on the floor. The clips are very sturdy and at this point she can not open them. When she does figure out how to open them (you know they always catch on) because of the way these work she will not pinch her little fingers like she might with a regular clip board. The board itself is thicker than I expected which is great because to my surprise she like to sit on it while she colors. Thus far it has not warped or bent in any way. The rubber band at the other end so far has held up to the little one tugging on it and its great too because it helps hold the paper in place. The clips open pretty wide so the board will hold multiple sheets of paper. I am very happy with this board!

Perfect for 16x20 painting

I got the big one to use as an easel. I do a lot of paint by number acrylics and this board is perfect for those. (I like to lay mine flat and hunch over them, much to the chagrin of my back and neck.) The board is lightweight and easy to operate. The clips are kind of like safety pins. They kind of push down and clip in, which is normal for this kind of clip. If you struggle to operate yours you can find tutorials online about them. I think they are very simple to use even one handed once you know how. The giant rubber band works just fine. The board is light for its size and easy to grab by the handle and get off my table when dinner time comes. Way better than the old piece of cardboard I was using before. I'm happy with my purchase. I suspect I will soon buy the smaller size for drawing and coloring, which I also do often. Nice product, it'd be a lovely gift for anyone crafty.

Love this large artist clipboard!

Solid product. It has all you would expect in a good board and does not have funky smells.

I like it. It is good. It is a classic size and has all the expected features: It is super sturdy Not too heavy Has a good clip with good grip The handle is the right size and location The rubber band is gentle and yet very strong. The surface is smooth and good. NO funny smells like some product of this type have. I highly recommend to air it in the garage, or balcony in dry weather for few days anyway. Although it does not smell, all those boards are made of a wood dust and glues that can contain formaldeyhde so for the sake of health I always air them for a good while before using. They tend to offgass all their life and no way around it. But you don't smell it. So again, air it prior to use and then keep it it far away for storage from any area where you spend lots of time.

A must for Art students*

As an Art student I highly recommend it. Got a lot of assignments and opening the easel takes too much space and time. With this I can easily lean the sketch board against a desk or surface, get the degree needed and work away. The arrival estimate was spot on and the product's quality is just as great~

drawing board

Back when I was in art school, I had an art board similar (not exactly) to this one. The snaps at the top are much smaller and less durable than the one that I had forty years ago, but it is still a good drawing board. It is lighter weight. I have also taped paper on it and the tape does not damage the surface when it is removed.

The ANSWER for me..

I'd been looking for nearly a year for a sturdy board to do my paint by number "masterpieces" (lol) in my lap, while sitting comfortably in a chair. Everything I found in the correct size (canvases are 20x30") was very expensive! I came across this board and thought it was worth a try. I didn't expect great quality for such a reasonable price. But, this item is of WONDERFUL quality! It's heavy and thick and the clamps at the top are secure and well made. I can see that they might damage a piece of paper (?), but for my needs, the board is perfect! Very pleased!

This sketch board is very well made. The clips don’t bite into the paper, but are able to hold it firmly. Even the rubber band has held up nicely to a great deal of moving it around. Typically I wouldn’t move the rubber band around on the art as much as I have, but I have protective tissue over the art I am working on and the rubber band it good enough to hold it down and not snap, but still easy enough to move.

I love the size

I love the size. That was my main concern. It seems to be very durable and large enough to put large pieces on, but manageable enough to maneuver on your lap if you need to. I seems to be water resistant and didn't peel up when removing masking tape.

This board is perfect for when I want to get away from sitting at my desk for too long, large enough to hold my landscapes or basic sketches, yet thin enough to either sit on my lap or on my easel. I use newsprint for my drawings so having thin paper sometimes becomes difficult to work on when there is a rough surface under it, but the board is smooth and I couldn't be happier sketching on it.
