I purchased this strip to put on the refrigerator. After two failed attempts with commercial mounting Velcro tape, we realized that the back panel comes off. This left a double sided magnetic bar for those who want to use it on metal, without screws. No tape needed. We've had it up for two weeks so far, holding a 7 piece Wustof set with heft, plus shears. No more cumbersome wooden block, and did not have to give up limited drawer space! This is probably the best purchase I've made all year!

I have a bunch of knives, including 3, 8" chefs knives that I put on the rack. I don't hang them tip up since I've read reviews about over time the knives slip. Hanging them tip down prevents that entirely as the handle would stop any slip. Magnet holds very solid and let me get rid of that bulky knife block. I hung mine on the side of a cabinet, so there is no movement in it. Easy to install, took, maybe 10 minutes to screw into the side cabinet wall. Looks great, works exactly how I wanted.

Strong magnet. I tried to use this on the side of the fridge as another buyer suggested but apparently not all fridges are made of steel. Oh well, I like it anyway and my very sharp knives are secure now. There is a steel plate that you screw into the wall or where ever you decide to mount this. When you line up the magnet to the plate be careful to line it up evenly and keep your fingers clear. The magnet is very strong and I pinched the skin on my finger tip. It is also hard to pull the magnet off the mounting plate once they're put together so make sure it is exactly where you want it and level.

This knife magnet has been very useful in giving me more space in my drawers. At the moment I have the bar stuck to my fridge (I would not recommend this for households with young children due to the possibility of kids knocking them off the fridge and cutting themselves). In order for the magnet bar to stick to the fridge I had to leave the mounting plate off due to the magnet not being strong enough to stay on the fridge through the steel plate.

I had an IKEA magnetic knife holder for years and loved the fact that all my food prep knives were so accessible. I just moved to my new house and had to quickly look for a new one since I had to leave mine behind. My biggest concern was whether this magnetic knife holder was going to be strong enough to hold all my knives. I decided to try this holder instead of driving 1.5 hours to the nearest Ikea. It was easy to install. After opening the package, I had to firmly pull the back plate piece away from the magnetic front piece. I tested the magnetic holder by sticking it on the side of my stainless steel fridge. The weight of 2 chef's knives made the magnet holder slide down slightly. Using the side of the fridge for my knife holder was definitely not going to work for me. So, I attached the back plate to the drywall beneath my cabinet with the 2 wall anchors and crews that were included. Then the front magnetic goes over that back plate to hide the hardware. As you can see, there is plenty of room for 8 knives and the large cleaver. I will have to add that the 3 longer knives (Santoku and chef's knives) slipped down slightly but stayed on the magnet. The magnet is so strong that the heavy meat cleaver doesn't even move. I am extremely pleased with this product.

Love this magnetic knife holder! I was looking for a knife holder that didn’t have to be attached to the wall, but could be magnetically attached to the side of my refrigerator. This one did not disappoint! There was another one that I almost bought that was a little smaller, more expensive, and made by the same manufacturer! I’m so glad I stumbled across this one. If you are going to be putting it on the side of your refrigerator, make sure you CAREFULLY remove the metal backing that is separated by a piece of plastic. Use the plastic to carefully lift the metal backing away from the knife holder. I stress carefully because the magnets are so strong that you can get a nasty pinch if you’re not careful. The same with placing it on the fridge. Do it slowly and carefully. I then put the metal backing in the box and put it away just in case I should ever decide to mount it on the wall. If you are wondering if this knife holder will be strong enough to actually hold knives, don’t even hesitate to buy it. I have 9 knives on it with no problems at all. It could manage to hold much more if there was room! 😆 I am thoroughly pleased with this knife holder and I am sure you will be too! I have not received any discount for this item nor did I receive any compensation for this in any way. If this review has been a help to you, please take a moment to click “helpful”. Thanks!

We used Sugru to attach this magnetic knife bar horizontally under our cabinet (so that it can be removed in the future without damaging the cabinet, since we rent). It is very sturdy and holds all of our knives securely. Since we installed it in an alternative way, I can't speak to installation using the screws. But, for anyone that doesn't understand what this product includes - it comes in two parts: 1) a flat back piece that you use the included screws to attach to your surface, 2) the bar that magnetically attaches to the flat back piece, and that you add your knives to. I really like that the magnets run along the whole back of the bar, top and bottom (instead of some magnetic knife holders I've seen that have round magnets and you can only attach your knives where those magnets are). Our knife collection includes: 2 large, 2 smaller, 4 steak. We also store scissors on it. Everything fits well and doesn't wiggle around.

This is something I didn't realize I needed until I got it. The magnet is unbelievably strong, holds all of our knives and kitchen scissors in a rock solid manner. One note of caution regarding magnet strength - there's a strip on the back that you can remove the magnet from when you're mounting the holder on the wall. Do NOT let any part of your skin get between that strip and the magnet when you're reassembling the holder. I didn't realize my fingertip was in that danger zone until they snapped back together, and it sliced me up pretty good. Oh well, stupidity tax. One other note: our backsplash isn't conducive to the mounting hardware that comes with this, so we put this up using a slew of adhesive picture hangers. Can't remember if we used 4 or 5, but we covered the entire back of the holder with them, and they've worked just fine (so far).

My old magnetic knife rack had become dangerous (knives would fall off if you came near it). Was looking for something that would work on my fridge - this was perfect. Super magnetic on both sides I have 7 knives on it and it looks fantastic. Not sure why some people said it would not work on fridge. I have a stainless steel fridge and it works on the side. You have to remove the plastic from the back to activate the magnetic strip on the back. Be careful I pinched my finger so hard it bled (cause it is super magnetic and I did not have a tight enough hold on it).

I was worried this knife bar wouldn't go up on my older walls where the studs aren't always easy to find or conveniently placed. Instead of placing on studs, we used the enclosed anchor screws. Using the anchor screws gave a nice solid feeling once the knife bar was up on the wall. So far I've put around 5 knives on the bar, from a Chef's knife down to a paring knife without any feeling that the bar is overloaded. It's easy enough to clean any fingerprints off with a cloth. All in all a much better solution to keeping knives in a drawer where they were getting dulled by the edges constantly rubbing up against another knife. I don't have much counter space, this is a better solution than a knife block. I don't know why I waited so long to get a better, safer, space saving solution for my knife storage.
