Highly recommended container for storing kimchi or fresh coffee beans!
We absolutely love our Crazy Korean storage containers! We currently use a smaller sized container to store fresh coffee beans and a larger one in the fridge to store kimchi. We initially sought out this container after the smell from a fresh batch of kimchi was wreaking havoc on our home. This container does an amazing job at locking the smell in! Our most recent batch of kimchi had a bit too much garlic, and some smell did escape into our fridge, but it was manageable. The plastic is very high quality and goes through the dishwasher extremely well.

A Must for My Kimchi!
I bought two of these specifically to make kimchi in, and I couldn't be more happy. I've made three different types of kimchi and about six batches total so far. I've also made feremented dill pickles and sauerkraut in them. It is an ingenious and easy to use system. The inner seal keeps the veggies airtight so there is no chance of mold. The outer lid keeps the kimchi goodness from smelling up your kitchen, too. It is also light tight. You do have to check it every day or so to open the valve and squeeze the seal back down over the veggies as the gasses build up, but the design makes this a super easy two-second process. Getting your product in and out is very easy because of the ample width. There are no complicated parts to deal with. Clean up is very easy. It is a simple, elegant, and efficient design. Frequent fermenters will not be disappointed.

Effortless kimchi
This container takes the fermentation process hassle out of making kimchi. We used to shy away from making our own kimchi because there was so much inconsistency from batch to batch. Now we get great results every time and I can tell you that these containers definitely made the difference. We initially purchased two of the 3.4L (.9 Gal) , but as much as my family loves kimchi, I think 8.5L version would make more sense. Having several of the 3.4L size does make organizing your 'fridge a little easier though.

Very good item!
This is a very good idea. Using just a jar and plate as follower one ends up with mold forming some times. With this it's all sealed and the only follower I used on top of the cabbage for kraut was some bigger leaves of the cabbage and then the inner seal as a final follower with the provision of releasing the build up of gasses. Also with the top clamping down as it does there is little to no odor noticed from it as it ferments. The first batch of kraut sent me back to my childhood with the first taste. I could of sat down and ate the whole batch. It was mild in flavor and very crunchy rather than the store bought stuff which I usually label 'Industrial strength' kraut. Usually one has to rinse off some of the strong vinegar taste on that stuff. I've even talked a co-worker into getting one of these and he is anxious to try it out as well. My next attempt will be Kim Chi and am looking forward to trying that. If you are a first timer on this kind of thing I recommend the book 'Fermented Vegetables' by Kirsten and Christopher Shockey as it's amazing what all can be fermented. Enjoy your first batch!

Homemade sour pickles made easy
I recently got into making my own fermented sour pickles, and I wanted to be to make more than three at a time (which was all I was able to fit in a quart Mason jar). I started looking into traditional pickling crocks, but they're on the expensive side (at least for me they are), so I figured I'd end up waiting until Christmas and then asking for one. But then I found this, which was far more affordable than a traditional stoneware pickling crock (not to mention much lighter), so I got it and I love it. Easy to use, easy to clean, easy to store, what's not to love about it? If you make any kind of fermented food, whether pickles, sauerkraut, or kimchi, you will not go wrong with this container.

Love it!
Just started my first batch of sauerkraut, after reading some of the reviews on here I decided to leave the inner seal plug open and submerge it under the juice. Put a couple of small plastic salad dressing containers on top and when I put the outer lid on they press down on the inner seal and submerged everything. Looks like it will work great! I like the fact that I can leave it in my kitchen with no smell, and I can just pop the whole container in the fridge when it's ready! Just ordered a couple more!

This is a wonderful product and so much easier to handle than my heavy crocks. I appreciate the interior seal to prevent odors from escaping. I ended up buying 3 altogether. It is just that good of a product! Thanks, Crazy Korean

Best tasting, super easy homemade sauerkraut!!
I just ordered my second Premium Fermentation container for making sauerkraut...The 0.9 Gallon size holds 2 heads of shredded cabbage easily...I have made sauerkraut the traditional way - but this system is so very easy and the quality of the product is great! No moldy cabbage leaves, ziploc bags of water, weighted jars or stones....Just put the cabbage (after you have pressed and squeezed the salted shreds to bring fluids out) in the container, press the inner lid down tightly so that liquid is forced to surface, close the stopper (so liquid stays on top of cabbage) and close the top lid. Food grade plastic - BPA free - mixed with 7-10% clay to create porosity for gases to be expelled...(My only concern is that the top lid hinges are those "made in plastic ones" that eventually break off from the bending back and forth.) I check it every day...and start stealing samples after day 4! Best tasting sauerkraut ever - and those probiotics are just growing...

Awesome Container for foods and fermentation.
First thing I love about this container is no smell as some don't care for the smell of kimchi in the fridge. I made kimchi and it turned out perfect and it keeps extremely well. If it's your first time making kimchi I recommend reading a book on the subject which is easily found on kindle. I would recommend using premium fish sauce and salt as it makes the best kimchi. If price is a concern I recommend the Mother in laws D.I.Y. kimchi kit. It around $21 and easier financially to fit within most budgets. It comes with enough really, really, really good fish sauce and chilli's. I recommend finding the darker traditional chilli used in kimchi as opposed to the brightly colored ones even though they work excellent and are fairly close in price($2.95 difference). I personally love this container I also got the smaller 2 quart size. I personally feel the 1.6 gallon works best for long term usage as the smaller one has the lid locking clips as a one piece design on the lid that after a while the plastic can fatigue and they may eventually break. Personal I'm am buying at least 1-2 in the 1.6 gallon size and a 5 gallon. That way I can have one for kimchi, pickles and one for foods that just need a good air tight seal. Excellent product and highly recommended as I do a lot of gourmet and traditional type cooking and this is just an awesome product. Depending on your fridge size I personal would buy the 1.6 gallon and the .5 gallon so you can have a small one for lunch or to share with family or friends. This product is very well made and packaged very clean, my only regret is limited fridge size but depending on your local weather can keep very nicely in the garage in cooler times of year to slow ferment kimchi as well.

Awesome
I just made my first batch of kimchi with this and it came out amazing - I left it on the counter for five days and it came out incredibly crisp, crunchy, and perfectly fermented. When I opened the box I thought "Hmmm, this is a lot smaller than I expected", but it actually holds a lot - I have the 0.9 gallon size, and it held 2 heads of napa cabbage, a large daikon radish, and 1/2 lb of shredded carrots (plus all the garlic, ginger, etc.) easily. In fact, I had room to spare. The adjustable inner lid is easy to use, and much more convenient than using weights. You do have to check it a couple of times a day and push it back down, because the escaping gasses from the fermentation can move it up. Love this, I may be ordering a few more for my other pickling projects...
