OK, OK, I'm shallow; I admit it. I love Vornado products for their elegant design -- but also for their excellent performance. This little beauty heats up the area around my desk, bed, sofa, and is easy to tote from one place to another. Since I bought the Vornado, I've kept my thermostat two or three degrees colder than usual, even during a particularly severe cold snap. I love my little Vornado fan, but the heater is, if anything, even better. Vornado is never the cheapest option, but it's always money well spent. As always, you get what you pay for.

I highly recommend this space heater! I lived with three other roommates who were against increasing the temperature in OUR apartment because they didn’t want to pay a more expensive bill, so I was left freezing to death at night. I tried turning on the heat, but someone always ended up turning it back down. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like being overheated at night. I like to be a little cold, but not so cold that I can’t GET warm. Anyway, I bought this space heater to put in my room at night, and it worked fantastically! At first I was nervous leaving it on while sleeping, but it’s completely safe! It even fell over a couple of times when I had it on during the day when I was in my room, and it turned off automatically. It’s very safe. My room wasn’t that big, so it didn’t take long to feel a difference in the temperature of my room, but I have no doubt this space heater can heat any room, regardless of size, with ease!

Recently bought a 2-room 2-story cabin (16'x24') and set up a homestead in the Ozarks. We have electricity but no gas or wood burning stove installed at the time I ordered this little beauty. No, this heater DOESN'T blow hot air like the convection heaters but, then again, you don't need to sit right in front of this heater to stay warm while your feet stay cold. The trick to getting the best performance of this little beauty is having as near an uncluttered room as possible. The downstairs is still being finished so things are all over the place - LOTS of obstructions - & it just didn't heat very well. I moved it upstairs where, even though things were still disheveled & cluttered, the stairs are at one end of the room and there was an open area down the center of the room from one end to the other & you can set the back of the Vornado on the floor close to the wall out of the way. Even the slightest movement - the safety feature immediately cuts the unit off until it's completely level again. The settings are simple: On/Off, I, II, & III (wattages) & 1 - 7 (temperature levels). The first time I ran the Vornado in the upstairs I had it on II & 6, went outside in the 30 degree weather, came back in about 30 mins later & was surprised at how warm the upstairs room was & turned it off until ready for bed. It was 10 degrees outside & sleeting so I had the EXPENSIVE convection heater that runs almost CONSTANTLY & you still need to sit in front of it to stay warm. I set the Vornado upstairs on II (1,000 watts) & 5 (temperature) because I like the bedroom a little cool to snuggle under the covers then went to bed.. I woke up SWEATING.& having to throw the covers off of me. I turned on the light & checked the room thermometer. It was 68 DEGREES! I put my hand in front of the Vornado & STILL didn't feel as if there was enough warm air coming from it to heat that room like that. Now on cold nights I keep the Vornado in the bedroom set on I (500 watts) & 4 for the temperature setting. It works just fine. It's not totally silent - a little bit of a sound sort of like a faint soothing sound of a sound machine. I understand that heat rises but the convection heater that is in the downstairs room is SUPPOSED to heat 1,000 sq ft will NOT heat that upstairs bedroom & I would NOT want to go to bed on even a 20 degree night with just that convection heater running downstairs. I've made up my mind, when all the interior work is done on the inside of this cabin & all the obstacles are cleared away, I'm getting a SECOND Vornado for the downstairs. It takes up MUCH less space than my expensive convection heater that only heats what's in front of it.

This is THE BEST space heater EVER. Yes, it is. We have had a bunch over the years, with a large master bath that needs it's own heat source and a large master bedroom that has so many windows, it's always so much colder in winter. Living in Florida, you don't ever really want to turn on your house heat, but with kitties who demand a warm house, well, they're spoiled. But if we turned the heat on enough to heat the master rooms, the rest of the house would be sweltering. So, I've trashed my share of space heaters. This Vortex heater works as advertised. No, I'm not a paid advertiser, we purchased ours. And yes, I'm familiar with Vornado technology because we have several of their fans. This sweet little heater doesn't seem like it's putting out a lot of heat because it doesn't blast out the hot air. Our master bedroom is 14' X 21' with 14 ' ceilings, so we're talking about heating a LOT of space. Then there is a 12' hallway to the chilly bathroom. Within 30 minutes (probably sooner, but I left the room and went back after 30) of plugging this baby in, the entire room was warmer than I planned and you could feel the warm air even going down the hall to the bathroom. That's pretty impressive for this little fan. And IT'S QUIET. All the others I've tried thru the years cycling on and off were very noisy. This heater cycles on and off to keep your perfect temperature. And for a heater to even enter our house, it's got to have a safety off switch. This one shuts off immediately due to a pressure button on the bottom. We will definitely be buying more Vornado products! LOVE this one!

Does the trick for a chilly California night! Some of the reviews said that this heater doesn't work and isn't as effective as a conventional ceramic heater. I decided to give it a try and it's perfect for me! It heats a 15 x 15 room from around 40 degrees fahrenheit with ease. It takes a little bit more time to heat the whole room than a regular ceramic heater would, but not by much. Within 15 min, the room will comfortably warm up to 65 degrees and would climb to 80 if I left it on high. Pros: - Very effective - Heats the room very evenly - Quick - Works as a fan too - Extremely quiet - The body of the fan itself stays cool to the touch Cons: - The rollover protection system sometimes is hyperactive. A fluffy carpet can sometimes allow the button on the bottom to release just enough to shut the heater off. Jiggling it around will turn it back on

This heater is the best one I've found, and I've tried *many* types of heaters. It puts out a warm to hot stream of soft air that works great for heating a room. It has a power switch, wattage switch for different output levels, and a thermostat to set the point at which it turns on and off. It also has a safety tip-over switch as heaters are required to have nowadays. The heater works very well, and is the quietest forced-air heater I've come across. Even the thermostat is quiet as it clicks on and off, can barely hear it as opposed to the loud click of most heaters. For forced air heaters you generally have two types, wire element and ceramic element (There is also infrared with fan but I'm not considering that here). They are both electric, but have different element watt-area densities. You can concentrate 1500w in a very small space with a small element producing a hot puff of air, or you can spread the 1500w over a larger surface and get more voluminous comfortable air. A ceramic element is small, concentrating 1500w in a very small area, producing a small poof of extremely hot air, which I don't like because the air doesn't get far. In contrast this is the wire-element style which heats a larger volume of air not as hot, but still plenty hot. I prefer the wire-element kind as this one is, because you can warm yourself up in front of it. It also heats a room more evenly as air is more distributed. Some things you should be aware of. Firstly when you turn on the heater for the first time there will be some motor bearing noise as the bearings are worked in for the first time. I've used 3 of these and it will go away in a few minutes during the first run and doesn't come back. Second my unit has some thermostat bounce, in that it clicks on and then off, then a few seconds later clicks on until the set point is reached. Many heaters I've used do this, which is a property of the bimetallic strip thermostats manufacturers use. This could be alleviated with a different model thermostat, but the ones that don't bounce have loud clicks. Have an electrician make sure your electrical situation is safe. They can make sure outlets and wire connections to them are in good shape, as a bad outlet and/or connection to it can create a hazardous situation. In many cases this is not noticed until a high amp draw appliance like a heater is plugged in and used, which stresses weak electrical connections. Should you feel your outlet, plug, or cover plate getting hot call an electrician and have them take a look at the outlet, and the other ones in the circuit. Since outlets are daisy-chained, a bad connection could exist in an outlet upstream as well. I caught several of these in my house, where the neutral line had gotten so hot it blackened, due to a "backstab" connection to the outlet. "Backstab" and "Backwire" connections are different and your electrician will know the difference.

I purchased two of these 10mos ago. Upon first plugging in, I didn't expect much, as the heat output was minimal. It was very quiet, but not very hot. Fast forward to an hour later, and my small office was VERY warm!! It seems to put out little heat, but this thing truly heats up a room without blasting that one shot of hot air that burns your feet. So...months later, I open the 2nd heater for the first time. Click, click, click. Nothing. My Amazon return period was WAY beyond date, so I called Vornado. They told me to reprogram the heater and gave me simple instructions. Click, click, click. Nothing. I called again...No questions, no receipt needed, just a photo of the serial number with an email to answer. Five days later, I have a brand new heater and didn't even have to pay shipping & handling!! I am SO impressed. I thought their products were overpriced and overrated, but I WAS WRONG. Quality products and service! Vornado has a customer for life!

Bought the grey one from third party vendor, Casa.com. Amazon only had black at the time. The vendor is located in NJ, and I received my package in two days. Fantastic shipping speed. The Vornado MVH is everything that people say it is -- it warms up the room differently than an oil radiator or ceramic type heater. It is much more gentle and comfortable, but at the same time, it takes longer -- although not as long as a radiator. I have used both oil and ceramic type heaters before. With those, you'll feel a lot of heat when you are close to the heater, but the heat drops off very quickly as you move away. You are either too hot or too cold -- more so with ceramic than oil. With the Vornado, you'll feel very little heat even when standing next to it. In fact, some may say that the heater is blowing cold air. Believe it. This is how it supposes to work. It circulates a lot more air through its heating element than the other types of heaters. That's why you don't feel the heat. At the same time, the room temperature rises gradually and stays there. You don't feel the drastic temperature variation when moving around within the room. I use this heater in my home office, which is a small room of roughly 15'x15'. We haven't had a really cold day this fall yet, but I have got a chance to use it once. For my room size, I use the 750w (lowest) setting and keep the thermostat half way (12 o'clock). It reaches a comfortable temperature in 15 minutes, with the door closed. If the door is not closed, this cannot be achieved. The fan noise is not too bad -- no worse than any fan of comparable size, and definitely quieter than my ceramic heater. Can't speak to the longevity of the product yet, as this is my first season owning this product.

Since most if not all the reviews for this product received it free, through the Vine Voice program, I thought I would add my review, since I actually paid for the thing. I bought this heater because our old one bit the dust. My son likes to have a little warm air in the mornings when he eats his breakfast before school (we keep our house cool at night during the winter, and it takes time to warm up.) I've been using it as a room heater during cold snaps this fall, instead of cranking up the furnace. Right now it is in my office, and I am quite comfortable. It has an internal sort of thermostat, so if you set it lower than full blast, it will cycle on and off, keeping the room as warm as you like. It's a nice size, light, and sharp looking. There's no way anyone could hurt themselves with it without a long metal implement and a bit of a death wish. The unit stays cool when operating and it has an ingenious button on the bottom which, if not in contact with the floor or the surface of something, will stop the unit from operating. In other words, if it tips over, it turns off. I like it a lot. It keeps our tv room nice and cozy and we don't have to heat all the bedrooms and kitchen and office.

This is my second Vornado MVH Whole Room Vortex Heater - the first of which died at my hands dropping it.(which is why I no longer drink white wine) The thermostat really works though you have to guess the temp as a single digit on a scale of 1-10. During the winter I cart it around my Nocal Condo and let it do the heating, I don't even turn my central on when the days and evenings are in the 20/30's F(that's old money to you celsius folks) My heating bill is happier, and so am I. This heater is really quiet, takes little space and front grate and box never get so hot I think a star is born. If I had any advice, it would be to set it back from you, let it have a wide shot at the room as the vortex heats the space better. I would say it's not HOT, but it will make a whole room warm and cozy. Really a perfect product.
