A great tool that will pay for itself quickly.
I'm a small GC that was constantly depending on my excavator to determine my elevations above the crown of the road. This is a huge factor that I needed to consider when pricing a house. This is what prompted me to look for a laser transit. Since buying this product I've found countless uses for it. Now I can verify anything that requires elevations. I have never used one and was worried about the learning curve. I was able to basically use it right out of the box. A few YouTube videos helped get me started. The whole kit seems like quality products. Personally I really don't use the stick too much, as a basic survey stake and tape works better for me. But it was part of the kit and I will no doubt use it more in the future. I can't imagine this not working great for anyone from basic to seasoned vets.

Great for what I needed
For the price, this is awesome. I own a small grading company and finally got tired of using levels and long 2x4's, set this up and was able to easily calculate volume of dirt needed to get pad on grade, then check the grade as I worked. No, the laser is not really visible outside but with the beep from the receiver mounted on the grade stick it's not needed. Two things I don't like, 1 it should have a case to carry everything all together and the second that I didn't buy this year's ago.

Nice Level For the price
Great product for a landscape or construction company. Works just as good as a name brand high quality level.

Hard to imagine a more complete kit at a reasonable price
I received my rotary laser system and unboxed it as quickly as I could to try it out. The calibration descriptions were quite clear and within a few minutes I was up and running. The tripod is very sturdy with clamps that lock securely. The laser detector was loud (quite loud actually, I'll be putting tape over mine to muffle the sound a bit) but slid smoothly up and down the boom pole. In fact, I may add a small piece of felt to help it move even more smoothly. The carrying case for the rotary laser is very well padded and seemingly well-built. My primary buying concern was to get all the necessary pieces for a complete system in one purchase. Initially, I was planning to buy a used system off Craigslist but decided instead I didn't want a hodge-podge system. My one request of Johnson is that I could buy a larger case that would carry perhaps everything but the pole or the tripod. One more - none of the barcodes on the product literature led to the promised video described on each. Maybe this was a momentary glitch but it certainly didn't work on my attempted. Regardless, the system was easily understood and setup straight out of the box. So far, I'm a fan! ************One Year Update********** And one year later...I still love this thing. It has performed flawlessly for me and earlier this week I took a picture to give you an idea of the range of the laser. You can't really see the tripod but it is sitting next to my white Tundra on the upper right side of the image. It is sending a signal out to the receiver and I'm confident I could have moved at least another 50 to 100 feet away from the transmitter. I estimate this distance at about 400 feet.

Hands down best laser level deal
You cannot beat this level for the price. I've used high end TopCon and others, and this does just about as good a job. I am a contractor and can be a little snobbish about tool brands and quality. I wouldnt think twice about pulling this tool out in front of the big dogs. It is modestly priced, and does the job. I now know why i see other pros using this. I do think that the eye is cheap though. But that can be replaced easily with a better one. The tripod and the laser are bad*ss.

Very solid leveling kit, incredibly useful for DIY
I've been using this to do house foundation leveling for concrete work for the past month, and it's really an indispensable tool. Highly recommended. One note: Be sure to keep the detector display clean, or it starts to beep randomly and will seem broken.

This is a must have for any new building project or other applications where a large section of ground needs to be leveled. It has lots of other uses as well like hanging cabinets or even pictures on a wall with the laser line to make sure everything is level as well as plumb. I have had no issues with this laser level and highly recommend it especially with the self leveling function.

Quality product I wish there was a case to put the tripod and grade stick in. That being said the products are great and will be used a lot. thanks

Very accurate & sensitive
Works very well even in full daylight. Very sensitive to slight variations in elevation. Sometimes feel the accuracy is TOO sensitive. Mostly have used reciever within 100' of the laser. So sensitive I have attempted to place the laser farther from work area in an attempt to widen the beam. Very good battery life too.

Nice, complete, full-featured tool
I was going to rent a rotary laser, but I decided that, for about 4 days' rental cost, I could buy this one. I am quite pleased with it. I'm not a construction pro, and I don't use this daily, but I have already used it about 10 days for a couple new building foundation layout projects. It works very nicely. It seems to be well made, with quality components. Very nice tripod and telescoping grade stick. Nice well-padded case for the laser. Includes laser safe glasses. a freestanding target, and a drop-ceiling bracket. I very much like the auto-level feature; I just put the tripod in, eyeball it to be approximately level, and the put the laser on. Quick and easy. I haven't used it for anything but horizontal work, but it will also work as a vertical plumb laser. This is rated for up to 800 feet, but I have only used it so far for less than 100', and it works great for me. In hindsight, perhaps I should have paid the extra $38 for Johnson's model 99-026K which includes a hard case for all components, but for my use; mostly around my property and little traveling use, what I got is great. If you're putting the whole thing into a truck and taking it to various job sites, you probably should pay the extra $38 and get the 99-026K with hard case.
