Bringing an old tripod back to life.
I have an old Focal (K-mart) tripod that I like--it's only 62" max ht, but aluminum, only 3#, and it has the cam-style leg adjusters. It also has a dovetail QD plate that's lost its rubber pad so didn't attach well any more. I couldn't find any replacement plates that looked likely to fit, but did find this replacement head that fits the newer grooved style plates, and it screws right in place (almost*). It looks like it's all metal, so I'm thinking it should be rugged. This has two knobs to lock the ball (one large and one smaller) that seem to work OK, and another small knob to jam the swivel. Hoping I get used to the ball head before long. The old head is a pan/tilt style and seems a little quicker to use (but I'm used to it), while most modern tripods use a ball head like this, and this was a lot cheaper than a whole tripod. Plus it gives me options to be able to mount more things without having to keep swapping the QD plate. *It would have been nice if this had a 1/4" thread (it's 3/8) 'cuz that would have fit right on the old tripod. But for a few bucks i got a whole handful of thread bushings. Fits now.

Pleasantly surprised
I bought this as an "I don't care if I beat it up" head for a couple of applications. Because of the low price my expectations were equally low but I'm really surprised at how good it is. I'm using it with a Nikon D810 and while it's definitely not sized for larger glass it handles a 70-200 (on the tripod foot of course) quite nicely. The ball lock is firm and the drags are good. The bubble levels are a nice touch (the one in the knob lock is clever). I was happy to see that the wedge plate does have a "catch" on it so if you don't crank the quick release lock all the way down it won't slide out (within limits that is). I have a Manfrotto 484RC2 and this is a WHOLE lot better (see photos for comparison...note: the magnetic base shown is not included...it's something I added). At 1/3rd of the price vs. the Manfrotto it's kind of hard to beat. I'm not a paid reviewer - I just order WAY too much stuff on Amazon. :-)

Great for attaching gun to tripod
This is a great ball fluid head for the money. It is made very solid all aluminum construction. Very heavy duty. I use it to mount a rifle to a tripod and worked perfect and held all the weight of the rifle. Would definitely buy it again if I need a replacement. Don't hesitate to buy this if your looking for a solid heavy duty ball fluid head.

Good product.
I watched a review on youtube before buying. There are two knobs that tighten the ball. On the review the guy didn’t know why. Theres a good reason for this. The smaller knob should be just tight enough so that you can move the camera around freely and still be able to support the weight when you let go (once the desired tightness is set this know should rarely be adjusted, and this does depend on the camera weight with lens). The second bigger knod (the one that has “lock and loose” on it) is to lock the position of the camer in place once you have the possition you want (if your taking multiple pictures of the same area or just don’t want the camera to move). Another thing, on the removable plate that ataches to camera adjust back and forth on camera. This is to counter the weight of the camera/lens. Once you place the camera plate on the head you tighten enough so that it won’t fall off but still moves, now you can slide the camera back and forth as well. This is also to help counter the camera/lens weight. I thought this might be helpful since in the video i watch the guy had no clue to what these two things were for (he thought he did but no).

Super for DIY projects that need more than a basic mount
You always feel better about your purchase of an unknown product after you see others using it too in lots of DIY YouTube videos. OK, so it's yet another non-standard QR-plate in your bag, but this is for projects, not your mainline rig. For a quick DIY universal quick-mount, this thing is great! It holds more solid than some of my more expensive name-brand ball-heads. Two things I have used it for so far were to position/hold a video camera clamped to a lighting truss on stage, and as a mount for my DIY barn-door tracker that I built for the total eclipse in August of this year (see photo). I will likely purchase more and leave them as permanent installations.

It is a steal with a minor inconvenience
I have a small travel tripod that I have been using on several recent overseas trips. The ball head was OK but is getting worse; so I was looking for a replacement because the legs are still perfectly fine. I was going to buy a small ballhead from brands such Induro or Sirui. After checking the prices, I took a step back. I started looking for cheaper options and there were several. This Pergear is near the bottom in terms of price but not the cheapest but has decent reviews. Given the low price, I placed an order. It was delivered yesterday and I immediately replaced the old ball head. The ball is larger than the old one and so the whole head is larger; however, interestingly, it does not change much the tripod folded dimensions. In terms of performance, I am more than satisfied especially at this low asking price. Because of the larger ball diameter, it is more secure than the old ball head ever was. Panning is just as smooth as my much more expensive Induro ball head on my larger CF tripod (CT214); I was expecting worse based on previous reviews. The ball rotation, however, is not as smooth but not so bad to be a deal breaker. The clamp can accept Arca Swiss plates but the clamp opening is just a little smaller than standard. So, you can still easily slide the plate in; whether that is a deal breaker is subjective. I have a few AS clamps around, so I simply replace it with an AS compatible one. I highly recommend this ball head if you have a tight budget. I am not brand loyal. My acceptance criteria are strictly performance based.

Not bad at all. High quality!
I received it today. It fits perfectly on my Neewer slider via the 1/4" to 3/8" convert screw adapter. The quality of it is very solid. It's able to support my Canon 80D. No problems at all. I recommend this for anyone looking for a quality ball head mount without breaking the bank.

Couldn't be happier
I purchased this and the Colorado Tripod Company Ball Head. They both have pros and cons. However, I'll probably end up keeping both. For the price they are both an absolute steal. This one is more fluid than the Colorado. It is slightly bigger width and height. The turning keys are plastic whereas the Colorado are metal and the grooves of the turning keys grip your fingers more making it easier to turn.. These both work with a 40mm Arca QR plate. If you had to choose between either I'd probably say go with the Colorado since you'll save only a few bucks but they are pretty similar. However, that does not take away from this 5 star review. If I only had purchased this one I still would be highly satisfied.

Great Buy
So I was in the market for a new tripod mount because on my other mount I lost the little top piece that twists into the bottom of the camera. I was scrolling through Amazon and doing research on what I wanted and I stumbled across this one. To be honest I was a little hesitant at first because it was a relatively low price point, benchmarking from comparable tripod mounts. I had some reservations when it came to build quality and mechanical capabilities. I decided to go for it anyway because I needed a tripod mount for a tip I was going on and figured, worst case Id be out a relatively small amount of money. It showed up in two days, faster than the expected due date. When I lifted up the box, I was surprised by the weight. I opened it up and boy was I wrong. The build quality is what you would expect from a high end piece of equipment. The whole item has a nice, weight to it and gives you a nice state-of-mind while shooting because you know it is not going anywhere. It is a very stable piece of equipment. All the knobs are robust and allow for movement even with gloves on. Some of the knobs on this piece are also lined with rubber and ridges to allow for further efficiency in motion. When you unlock the swivel and rotate the tripod mount on the base it is very flush and allows for even continuous motion. The two air bubble levels on the top are also handy and accurate. There is also a little hinge that picks up off the camera screw on the bottom of the top plate to allow easier tightening and loosening of the screw without tools. Overall the attention to detail, build quality, mechanical fluidity, and overall aesthetic lends it to be a good addition to my gear. Highly recommend this mount. I am leaving on Saturday for this trip, so I will see how it performs under stress, but I have no doubts it will treat me well.

in a good way, the knobs are rubberized and feel quite ...
Astonishing value for a simple but very robust feeling tripod head. The unit's rotational drag, while very adjustable is still quite effective for smooth pan shots. I purchased this to provide a lightweight fluid rotational mount onto a slider and it has fulfilled this need very well. The unit is quite heavy for its size, in a good way, the knobs are rubberized and feel quite good and responsive. Overall, I really am surprised by the very low price of this solid little head. While this isn't a complaint given the price, do note, there is no locking mechanism for the plate, merely a tighening mechanism. As such, caution should be used in order to ensure there are no accidents.
