Get Two, They're Awesome

Extremely useful for grating fresh parmesan, or other food. We use this so much that I need to get a second one as the first one is often in the dishwasher. It's a terrific price and is just as sturdy (maybe more) as the famous brand grater that I used previously. This is a great value and a great/grate product!

Another great product from Switzerland!

I have to warn you, I am not unbiased when it comes to this great little Cheese Grater. Being Swiss, I always look out for quality in my kitchen since I cook a lot and don't want to replace tools all the time. You will find Zyliss products in every Swiss household since the quality has been proven since the 1950's. Now you have to be aware that a Cheese Grater is to be used with hard cheese like parmesan but you should never squeeze the grater too hard or it could break. Also, if the cheese is too soft, it will clog up inside the wheel. There is an art in how to grate cheese (ok, even me being Swiss, this just sounded 'cheesy' ;) and you should LIGHTLY squeeze and then turn the handle. Patience is the trick, not how much cheese you can grate in 10 seconds! I don't understand reviews that say 'I squeezed like hell but it broke'. That's like saying: 'I threw my mixer out the window but it won't work'.

First one by Zyliss finally met its ultimate, untimely death. Yeah, we wore that bad boy out. So, welcome Z2, or Zyliss Two. We love you. Yes, I will still put you through the challenges that your predecessor endured - grating cheese on a regular basis and going through the scalding hot dishwasher. No hand washing for you! Your ergonomically correct design hugs my hand like no other, so grating a block of asiago is of little concern and results in minor fatigue - and no blisters like your competitors! Feel free to laugh in their faces! Remember the inferior plastic of that other one that appeared in the drawer next to the original Zyliss? Horrid, was it not? It cracked under the pressure after just a few uses! So, welcome Z2, you are the best!

Gone are the days of grating skin off my fingers!

I have repeatedly sliced off chunks of my finger while grating cheese or veggies with a traditional grater. I finally got fed up and decided to buy this lovely contraption to save myself from eating anymore pieces of my hand. What great purchase! My only complaint would be that it shreds the cheese very finely. I wish there was another roll that you could put in it that has a larger grate. Other than that, it's wonderful!

Cheap, Simple, Effective, Buy now

Excellent product. This thing is easy to use, light weight, effective, and easy to clean. It's pretty much just like the ones you see in Olive Garden. If you like fresh grated Parm and Romano then this product is for you. The best part is that you can throw those chunks that are too small to shred on a standard shredder inside and it grinds them right up. No more wasted cheese of scraped knuckles/nails. If you're still pouring shaker cheese on your food you're doing yourself a disservice and eating anti-caking agents that are added to your cheese.

AMAZING! Just buy it and you'll never look back!

Why did I wait to long to buy this? I HATE cleaning my old cheese grater -- it was impossible to remove the tiny piece of parmesan cheese from it and always had to use a fork, which never really cleaned it 100%. This rotary grater is amazing! Easy to assemble, grates cheese effortlessly, and cleans easily. Tip: Take 3 pieces apart and wash by hand, with soap, and let dry on dry cloth -- takes 1 min and you'll avoid rust. Bought one for my dad too!

A classic for sure

This device is exactly like ones used in restaurants where the server asks whether you want cheese on your (fill in the blank). It grates cheese just the way you would expect a good cheese grater to do. Easy to clean. A basic tool that is fundamental to any serious cook's arsenal of devices. I can never go back to bottled pre-grated cheese with all the concomitant fillers to add bulk and preserve freshness. Just get this, buy some good Parmesan, Romano or Asiago cheese, grate it and enjoy, enjoy.

Makes life easier

Easy to use. Keep it loaded with parmesan cheese and stored in an air tight container in the refrigerator for easy access to add parmesan cheese when ever it’s wanted.

This grater, good Parmesan, a nice dish of pasta and sauce, and a great wine... make for a great meal!

Purchased this grater about 4 months ago. We use it for good quality Parmesan cheese, for use both on the finished pasta, and adding into sauces and recipes. The unit is sturdily built, and both my wife and I find it comfortable to hold and crank. It produces finely shredded Parmesan, which we prefer on our pasta, and to cook with. If you want a coarse or medium texture, this isn't the grater you want. For the cost, I think the product is of higher quality and sturdiness than I expected. We usually store it in the refrigerator loaded with some cheese, in a zip top bag in the refrigerator, but have washed it in the top rack of the dishwasher at least half a dozen times, with great results. I would suggest this grater to friends and relatives.

Handy cheese grater

Went to Olive Garden with my daughter just before Xmas and she had our server spinning out A LOT of cheese on one of these things. I thought it would be funny to add this to her Christmas stocking. It ended up under the tree though because the box this comes it is larger than expected. So far both my daughter and I have used this twice. It works well and cleans up easily. The price wasn't too bad either (less than $12). Great little thing to keep around the kitchen. Happy with purchase.
