This is a nice compact unit that works as advertised. I needed it to measure the speed of a fan in an HVAC application, in a well-lit environment. It worked very nicely. For the price it can't be beat I believe. I'm an engineer and an expert fabricator, machinist, etc., and I don't give 5 stars casually.

IT ACTUALLY WORKS, PROFESSIONAL QUALITY

I have tried laser, and LED tachometers. They don't work very well, they're not very accurate, although the LED is more accurate than the laser. The LED is blurry and very difficult to find a target and won't allow you to read any technical data, on the device being tested. I ordered this particular tachometer Stroboscope because I realize now that the Xeno Lamp is the only lamp that is capable of stopping a target. It also enables the operator to read any technical information you might need off that device. Also when I was in industrial electricity school this type of stroboscope, with this type of lamp, is the only thing we would use.

What I needed.

Just received and works as expected. The light is bright enough to see the rotating flywheel on a vertical shaft lawnmower. (Asked question earlier, before ordering.) The flywheel is covered by a grill and the pull starter cord reel, but there's enough gap to sychronize the strobe to the flywheel. It's naturally shaded below the grill and that helps. Came in a box that is foam lined and cut/shaped-to-fit, so it can be safely stored with the removable cord. Also, came with a spare bulb.
