I totally love this machine
I totally love this machine. It is so very easy to use and the stitches are beautiful. I just finished making curtains for 3 bedrooms and I can't find one negative thing to say. I have been a seamstress and have taught production sewing for over 30 years and this is a great affordable machine to have.

It's a boat but it delivered. A+
It took me an hour to read the manual, thread 4 bobbins and thread it to sew including learn the automatic threader(It's faster just to thread the needle by hand). I thought that it was taking too long to go through the manual and I was still annoyed that it is so big and heavy - it's a real full size machine and I prefer half size. I read the reviews but didn't check the dimensions before I ordered. After the first hour, I started sewing and sewed for a few hours, completed two projects and am convinced that it is a really good machine that I won't be fighting with. I did not have to adjust tension once. I love the backward feature and the light and that it never jammed or had me stopping to fix the machine. It is very quiet which I didn't expect. It looked complicated but the manual got me familiar with it so now it's easy. It came with all listed accessories and more, and it came with a white canvas dust cover with pockets for the foot pedal/plug, and accessories. I'm probably going to quilt my own dust cover for it though. I can't speak for it's longevity since I just got it. So far I'm impressed.

working well
I am really happy with this machine. I am a experienced sewer and also have two other expensive machines. I bought this primarily because it is light enough for me to carry to my quilting club, but it sews nicely and is easy to use. I really like that I can see if the bobbin needs thread. So far, so good.

Great machine.
I've only used this machine a little so far but I really like it. I am a beginner and the machine works very well. Pretty easy to route the thread and the device that threads the needle works very well. I like the hand-hold on top that makes it very easy to pickup and move around. The only negative is when you start, sometimes you have to manually rotate the wheel to get it to move slowly through the material. If it were geared lower it would start better at a cost of less high speed, but I've noticed that all sewing machines seem to be geared high. Can anyone use these machines at their highest speed ? This one is just a blur at high speed. Great machine with a great price and well built by a quality brand.

Quilting BFF! Will never go back.
Been using a 1945 Domestic cast iron sewing machine my whole life and finally bit the bullet and bought a new one. I was struggling with quilting on my old machine and needed a walking foot, which they didn't make for my machine back in 1945! (BTW: I'm 34, I wasn't actually around in 1945, just was the first machine I was given as a kid to learn on and never could afford to buy a new one.) I purchased this model specifically because it comes with the walking and quilting foot accessories. I have to say, I was hesitant. I loved my old iron work horse and though I would not like this new technology. Figured I would only use the Brother for top quilting and would use the old Domestic for piecing and seamstress work... after having this for a few months, I will admit, I will probably never use my old Domestic machine again! This is a great little sewing machine! I have used the walking foot: brilliant! Works just as it should. My quilting came out beautiful. Just used the darning plate and function last night to fix a pair of jeans: super! Have used a few of the decorative stitches: awesome! It is so much quieter than my old machine as well. The foot pedal action is great. My old machine had basically 2 speeds with the pedal: fast and lightning. This foot pedal is really responsive. Overall, I was super skeptical when I purchased this new machine, and I have to say, I'm putting my old domestic on eBay today since I'll never use it again!

It's very easy to use and quieter than my singer which finally ...
I got my machine last night (10/10/2017) and had it up and running in about 40 mins. It's very easy to use and quieter than my singer which finally died on me. I had some trouble with the tension but found that I had not fully seated the bobbin thread and it had come partially loose(this is my first machine with drop bobbin I believe its called). Once I corrected this I had no further problems and was able to spend a couple of hours working on my quilt. So far I love this brother and have no complaints. If anything changes my opinion I'll update my review.

A Breeze to Thread including the Bobbin. Works well.
Update 5-6-19: I still love this sewing machine. I have had it for years now but only use it a handful of times each year. I typically use this on the counter while standing since I do quick projects like curtains and recently did a stuffed "mole" animal with slippery fur on one side. Worked fine. The throat is large enough to hem huge velveteen curtains from IKEA. --- Update 5/30/2016: I could not be happier at how easy this is to thread and use. I no longer dread when thread snaps or I need to change thread/bobbin. No issues whatsoever. I am a light user, but have sewn with both a Kenmore and a Singer and liked neither of them as much as this one. It's well worth the price, plus there are accessories that you can buy if you do quilting. So many people own this one, that it's also easy to find information on it. Self-threading feature is a bit confusing at first but very nice for people who need reading glasses. I can thread this one without reading glasses. :^) This is easy to thread and the bobbin is easy as well. This in itself is worth it. I haven't had it long enough to say that it's going to last for years like my old Singer, but at least it's a breeze to use!

A great gem of a machine at a low price!
So far, I absolutely love this machine! I expected delivery to be at least a week but I got it within 30 hours of ordering (way to go, Amazon!). Got it a little over 2 weeks ago and so far have made my son a Renaissance costume (cape and all), a shirt, repaired a winter coat and pairs of pants - and made a full size rag quilt! I wanted to "put it through it's paces" before the 30 day guarantee was up. This little workhorse was well worth the cost! It runs quiet, has not jammed or broken any threads. I've filled up (& used) over a dozen bobbins - bobbin winding is an easy task. The thread diagram was a big help the first few times (& easy to do!) but I now do not have to refer to it. The needle threader works like a charm, once I figured out where the needle position had to be! The user manual is easy to read and follow; the CD that came with it has not even been looked at. I still need to try the free arm quilting, but that is a skill I have not tried on any machine yet. This replaced my Singer Confidence Quilter - only 2 years old (purchased from JoAnn). I WAS a die-hard Singer fan all my life & still have my original machine from over 25 years ago. (The old one still runs, but it's heavy, clunky, and LOUD.) The Singer Quilter jammed during sewing a SHIRT and the timing was destroyed AGAIN. Repair costs were more than the machine costed. THAT machine was a piece of junk. (And on the bottom underneath I found a sticker saying it was made in Vietnam!). I would recommend this Brother machine to any experienced or new sewers out there - you won't be sorry!

In Love!
I love my new machine. I sold my other machine because I wanted to down grade. Yes, you heard me right! I had a computerized machine with over a thousand stiches that could do anything and everything. I felt as though it was to much machine. Yes, you again heard me right! I read a lot of reviews and searched high and low. I came upon this machine. It was what I was looking for. For my needs and use, it will serve its purpose and get the job done. After it arrived, I must admit I'm in love! I love this machine and I could not be happier! I'm glad I sold my other machine. If you are looking for a machine, this is the one for you!

Great machine!
I have used a Viking for almost 40 years and I still have it. But I wanted a little bit more updated machine. I found it in this Brother machine. I am just tickled with the needle threader! What a PERFECT thing for aging eyes! I got this for the smaller amount of stiches and the threader. My old Viking has 150+ stitches, of which I may have used 8 total in 40 years. I am in love with this machine! It is in use every day helping me make quilts. Already made one and working on another.
