Great timer, awesome "random" mode to confuse criminals

I recently purchased this programmable timer for when I leave for vacation. It is the first timer I have owned but I am very impressed with it so far. It has 8 periods that can be programmed (ex 10:00-11:30am is 1 period, so 8 of these) and can be done down to the minute to help make it look like somebody is home. I really like how it has a "random" mode that switches up previously programmed periods by +/- 30 minutes so that it randomizes it and makes it even harder for criminals to track the lights. Additionally, this Century unit has 2 outlet plugs which allows for 2 lights to be programmed, and a splitter or power strip could theoretically be plugged into the timer. Overall, I am very happy with the product and would recommend it to others.

Great for Christmas lights and lamps

I love this timer. This is the second one that I have bought. I use it to schedule our lights on our Christmas tree and lamps around the house. I like being able to schedule each day because I don’t need the lights on when I am at work but want them on more on the weekends. I also use this to schedule lamps around the house when I am out of town for long periods of time to make it look like someone is home. The internal battery on it lasts so long that I can’t believe that my older one (about 3 years old) hasn’t died yet. I would buy this again (and I have).

Perfect! (Update 5/3/17)

This is the best programmable timer I have ever used! I have tried just about all the brands they sell at Walmart and Lowes and they are all confusing pains in the butt. This Century timer is so much better! They actually put an appropriate amount of buttons on it so you can program it without guessing what button does what since it seems that the goal of other companies is to have the same four buttons do twenty things. It's also about half the price of the ones at the big box stores. Update 5/3/2017 - I was so happy with my initial purchase that I have since bought two more of these Century timers. I'm so glad that I found these, I will never use the over priced junk sold at the local big box store again. I have one timer outside (in a water-proof box) that runs a bug zapper. I have another one on a inside lamp. And the first one I purchased I have in the garage for running my Halloween and Christmas light displays.

A Blessing

I purchased this item several months ago to replace another different brand timer that was so difficult to set I thought I surely would loose my mind. I easily read the Century directions and without difficulty had set a daily schedule to my liking.......no problem. The lights were then inadvertently disconnected and I needed to reset the timer. I could not find the directions and emailed the customer service.....on a Sunday, hoping I would hear back by Monday or Tuesday. Within only a few hours, still Sunday, I received a wonderful responsive email with a YouTube link. I EASILY followed the appropriate video and was back in business in no time. The product is without a doubt excellent. It truly is easy to set.....with written directions or the video. One would hope!! What was the frosting on this experience was the immediate and personal response of the customer service rep.........on a Sunday. For sure I would highly recommend Century for this item and would never look for another brand with this degree of satisfaction.

Retains the time during power outage

These are a challenge to program until you get the hang of them, but they work really well. I especially like that they hold the correct time even after the power goes out. We purchased several of these timers to use in our FL house when we went north for the summer. After losing power for 4 days because of hurricane Irma, we came home to find these working perfectly just as programmed. Didn't lose a minute due to the outage! I also like the 'random' feature which will turn off/on randomly up to 30 minutes before/after the set times. Makes it less obvious that a timer is being used.

Great device for controlling on-line gaming!

I got this for a slightly different purpose than most, I think. I have two teenage sons who tend to do online gaming a little more than what I would prefer, even during non-school days. I can't police them all the time, so I let this timer do it for me. I have our router plugged into it, and every night the timer shuts it off at 01:00 in the morning, and then back on at 06:00. So, the gaming ends at 01:00 without question. When I first programmed it this way, the next day they told me that something was wrong with the WiFi network. I looked very puzzled and told that how odd that was, that I would look into it, and snickered to myself. But they soon figured out what I had been up to....;). At least now they're going to bed at a decent hour. Once school starts, it'll be set to shut off at 10:00. The timer was very easy to program and does just what I need it to...great little gadget.

A very good timer.

This is a good timer from a great company. I had one fail after two months and Century Products replaced the timer with a new one that is working great. They also offered assistance if I had any more problems. I like a company that stands by their product.

Excellent product! Very Satisfied with purchase.

Exactly what I wanted! I bought 8 for indoor Christmas lights in different rooms in the house; all 8 worked perfectly. I was able to sync all the timers to the exact same time by using the clock on my PC and entering the minute on the timer as the PC time changed to the next minute. The directions were simple and easy to understand making programming very easy. I'm thrilled that my lights all come on and turn off at the same time, for the first time ever. A huge improvement over the timers with the pins that you insert for on/off and the dial you turn to get an approximate time. Another plus is that there are 2 outlets on each timer so I don't have to use splitters to plug in 2 light strings. The outlets run off the same program so you can't program them individually, a feature I don't need. The price and delivery time were very reasonable. Very satisfied with my purchase and would definitely buy again.

Good stuff

Have been using 4 of these timers for 3 years now. Sold under the Hydrofarm brand, overpriced The 4 have performed flawlessly under continuous operation. I find this a much better price with the same hardware

Easy to Program and Saved Money

Excellent product. We could not program it by following the directions in the package insert. We were able to program it by reading and following the succinct outline of programming directions that was provided by one excellent reviewer on Amazon and by using the U-Tube video directions provided by the manufacturer. The timer worked like a Gem. Since we were able to program the way we wanted the electrical item to function on each day, this timer saved us money on our electricity bill while we were on vacation.
