Fantastic Product
This little guy caught my eye while shopping for a hard drive. I was super excited to get it if it done as advertised because I have several SATA drives lying around. Once received, I tried it out on a 2.5 laptop drive, 3.5 3TB drive and had no problems. This is what really blew me away. I had an old Seagate FreeAgent drive lying around that internally was wired up as USB to eSATA. This was purchased back in 2013 and the USB connection broke off the board due to bad design. I opened up the enclosure and removed the hard drive and connected the WEME adapter. I was a little apprehensive as the WEME is advertised as SATA III but to my surprise it worked perfectly and I was able to retrieve files I thought had been lost for years. Great Product!!!!

Works great on everything I tested it with.
My PC is hidden behind the desk, so this is perfect for those rare times I need to plug in a DVD Rom or a hard drive. I tested it with and SSD, a 5 year old 5.25 hard drive, and a 7 year old DVD drive. All worked fine. I already have a 12V powered USB 3.0 Hub. So I didn't need to use the power supply and run another wire. I just used a splitter E-outstanding 5 Pack 1 Female to 2 male 5.1mm X 2.1mm CCTV DC Power Supply Splitter Cable

Set up quickly and worked perfectly
This adapter was the best tech item I've bought in a long time. I have been holding on to a Seagate 160 gb hard drive for ten years that I had to replace because it had become corrupted and no IT person could get into it to try to recover a few hundred pictures that were on it. Then I discovered a decent priced recovery program that recommended I get an adapter like this so I could connect the drive directly to my computer via USB instead of cracking the box open. So many adapters had mediocre or bad reviews but this one was very positive. The adapter hooked up quickly and worked perfectly with the recovery program. Now I have almost all of my long-lost pictures back. Then I used the adapter to reformat the hard drive and look for disk errors to see if the drive was still usable for lower value backup, and now it is, and I also have another old drive from 2011 that I am going to search for anything I might need to save. I'm already looking forward to when I upgrade my PC... this is going to make it so much easier to transfer data to the new machine. I am so thrilled with this adapter.

Simple and Compact
This is easily the best SATA-to-USB adapter I've ever purchased. It's a one device, one plug affair when connecting 2.5" drives and it harnesses a separate DC line for larger 3.5" drives. This thing is fast. read and write transfer speeds take full advantage of the USB 3.0 speeds limited only by the specs and age of the connected drive. The blue LED does more than indicate power and will blink when transferring data. The SATA and power connection to the driver is stable and firm. My only quibble would be the thickness and rigidity of the USB cable that comes with the adapter. It's way too thick and I'm sure I could use it as a stop-motion puppet armature because this thing will retain any shape it's bent in. It's so rigid and heavy that I need to take special care to make sure that it doesn't drag smaller 2.5" drives off my desk, which would be a nightmare for mechanical drives. This isn't so much a problem for 3.5" drives. I didn't knock a star off for this though because the cable can be substituted with a more malleable one. I highly recommend this adapter.

Follow the installation sequence.
It worked right out of the box. I had two SATA drives pulled out of defunct computers. I was able to read both drives and pull out all necessary files . I connected it into lap top running Windows 7. To ensure the smooth operation, I suggest the following sequence: Plug in the adapter into your USB drive. Let the computer find it and install the necessary drivers. Then, disconnect it from the computer, plug in the hard drive and plug it back into USB. Give it few seconds and the drive will be accessible. If the in the process you receive the warning that drive has to be checked for errors, do it. I plan to test it on a desktop running Windows XP and then post the update. Update: It works fine with Windows XP SP3 Follow the same plug in sequence.

Worth so much more than I paid for it in the long run
Had a computer with a drive which we were not sure about. Windows 10 would not boot so I had to pull the drive. My older adapter would not connect it to my laptop so I ordered the SATA adapter. This converter plugged in quickly and worked like a champ. I was able to fix the drive and get the laptop up and running again. People seem to bring me their broken computers, even though I am a firearms dealer, so I end up scrapping some older computers with good drives. I like being able to save the drive and use it for something else. This adapter will allow me to check the drive quickly and fix it or scrap it. This adapter was worth every penny.

little adapter which worked as described
I didn't buy this usb adapter for hard drive connectivity issues but for optical drive. However I have a use for several SSD and physical hard drives I have whenever there's a need for them. The major motivation behind buying this adapter is coming from what I recently experienced after I finished making my new desktop. My desktop doesn't have any internal optical drive and I did it on purpose because I wanted to use all available reserved bays inside the case for new and used SSD and physical hard drives I had and I new in advance that the use of an optical drive like DVD drive is not that critical nowadays and I can simply buy an external optical drive to connect with any available USB 3 or even 2, but I ended up being so wrong about that. What I experienced in reality that what is available in the market as external optical drive doesn't work with my operating system (Windows 10 64 bit) or I have to pay for a very well known brand which is simply over 100 dollars so I decided to find a practical way which is also cheaper and i did my research and I found this adapter. I wasn't quite sure until I made connections with what I have already had which is two internal optical drive that I used to use in my older computers and there we go. It worked !! And it worked without a bit of any issue. It's important to mention out for those who doesn't know that it takes higher power for an optical drive to be able to recognize by your computer as a functional device and this little adapter made it possible. Very well designed, quiet affordable and hundred percent functional. I highly recommend it to anyone specially those who are experiencing what I did.

I Really LOVE this Adapter
I’ve bought a lot (too many) adapters that were just okay. This one truly fits my needs .., whether it’s a laptop HDD or a desktop it’s flexible ... It’s small (just what it needs to be). It’s hot swapable (love it).. I very highly recommend it. The only con to me (I’m betting most would agree) is the “right angled” power plug that takes up or blocks (2) receptacles of any power strip. But still .... you can’t beat it.

Find Your Lost Files Quickly
This was a very timely purchase for me. I was in a fix, and needed to locate a two year old email (and it's attachment) off of a previous computer's hard drive that I had stored away after upgrading to a new computer. I ordered the unit after reading the great reviews. It was easy to assemble and snap to the old hard drive. Within seconds I was able to navigate to the location of the old email files and secured my lost file. This saved me $320.00 in a permit purchase that I was able to now defend that I had possessed. Not bad for the $19.00 investment. No software or instructions needed to get this done. Very satisfied! I originally went to an electronics store and was sold a single cord USB converter (without the second power cord) for laptop hard drives, while being told it would suffice. Wrong....learning that you needed an included power cord to power the larger hard drives moving parts I quickly reached out to Amazon and WEme to find a highly recommended unit.
