Great for automating aquarium lighting.
This is a great affordable option for timed power strip. I bought it to automate the turning on and off of my aquarium light (guaranteeing a low stress light routine for my fish and enough light for my aquatic plants to flourish). All you do is set the time and push the pins down to set the timer. 4 outlets are on a single timer and the other 4 have constant power so I put things like the aquarium filter and heater on the continuous outlets while the timer side manages the lights — taking the effort of remembering out of my hands. The only consequence is that there is only one timer so everything on the timed outlets will go on and off at the one set time. Not an issue if you’re looking to use it for one purpose like aquarium lights, sets of Christmas lights, etc.

Super Easy To Use Power Strip w/ Timer!!!
If you aren't good with computerized gadgets and need a timer this is the easiest to use. I bought some timers and could just not figure out how to set them. It's so frustrating. I had to send them back. After reading the reviews on these "Century" Surge Protected Power Strips with Timers, I ordered 2 of them. They are manual and super easy to set. These have 8 sockets you can use. Or you can use the timer setting on 4 of these and use the other 4 for constant power. I'm using these on my aquariums. I absolutely love these. I used one to use on 2 timed tank lights. I have the 2-filters and 2-heaters on the constant power side. So with just one of these power strips with a timer, I have 2-low light tanks set up and running with the lights on timers. I was constantly forgetting to cut the lights off which caused an awful algae problem. I got the tanks cleaned, algae removed and now have them on this power strip timer. My plants get the correct, photosynthesis period (8hrs) of light every day and they are growing fast and healthy. The 2nd one I ordered is set up to moderate to high light planted tanks that are 45 & 60 gallons, in the living room. These too, will grow fast and healthy plants due to getting the same 9 hour light every day thanks to the Century 8 Outlet Surge Protected Power Strip with Timer. You Aquarium hobbiests know how vital it is to get the correct amount of light to your plants in order for them to stay healthy so they can keep the water healthy for your fish. I will definitely be buying 2 more of these timers for my last 2 tanks in other rooms. My life is so much easier, my plants and fish are so much healthier and happier, I would give this product 10-Stars if possible. I highly recommend this product. Their Customer Service is as outstanding as their products. Customer Service gets 10-Stars too.

Received replacement that works perfectly!
In general I like the design of the two rows of outlets with the option of always on and timer on. It is very easy to set timer on/off by pressing the panels. However, I don't know if anyone else is bother by this - while in use, there is an nonstop considerable audible buzzing/ticking/sizzling/wood burning type of sound that sounds like the timer at work. It's always buzzing regardless if if you switch the timer unit to on or off, away from the timed option. It a low frequency sound that doesn't get blended into the environment. So I hear it everywhere when I'm in the room, unfortunately this is the living room and I'm there a lot. Hence the reduction of stars. (New update on 1/8/2017) After I left my original review, I was contacted by the seller and they informed me that I might have received a defective product and sent me a replacement. The replacement works like a charm! It is extremely quiet (so the original one I got was defective). Just to note, that I have used the traditional Intermatic Timer, which has a tiny continuous buzzing sound as the clock works. This Century Timer is definitely more quite than that. Switching my review to 5 stars.

Excellent way to shut-off half the items connected.
Purchased this item for my aquarium thinking I might put things on a timer, but in reality, I just like that I can shut-off half of the items connected to it when I do my water changes with the flip of the timer side switch. This is handy because it will shut off the filter and air pumps, but will keep the lights on as I clean the tank. I've got it mounted to the wall for easy access and it makes it way easier to "drip" the cables leading to it. Good addition to my aquarium situation.

Worth the Money! I will be buying another!
Wonderful power strip! I use it on my vivarium/paludarium. I will order another one for my next setup. It's great to be able to set the lights and such that only need to be on for specific periods on one side and the fountain/filters on full time. I really am pleased with this. Great quality as well!

Works great for my reptile terrarium
I bought this for the lights on my bearded dragon terrarium. It turns the lights on in the morning and turns them off at night. It works very well. I like that it has a lot of outlets. It keeps time accurately unlike some others on the market. Since it is in my bedroom one of the most important things to me in choosing this was how loud the timer would be. You can only hear it if you press your ear up to the timer, even then, it is just a low hum. When it turns the lights on in the morning it does make a little clicking noise, but it is not loud enough to wake me up and I am a fairly light sleeper. I am very pleased with this power strip and is perfect for my needs.

Great concept and excellent customer service.
The product is easy to used gives you 4 timed plugs and 4 live plugs or you can flip a switch and have all 8 live plugs. My first one that I received had one of the pins that was loose and stayed in the down (on) position and I was wondering why my light would come on at 2 AM. That turned out to be the pin that would not stay in the up position. One email to customer service and a new one was on the way. This one works great. The customer service is very attentive and gets the problem resolved quickly. Highly recommended, especially with Christmas just around the corner. You wouldn't have to daisy chain all your tree light strands together as you have 8 plugs with 4 of them on a timer. Great concept and great customer service.

exactly what I needed
Exactly what I needed and solved multiple problems! Heavy piece of furniture blocked one reg and one switched outlet. I have two buffet lamps and a wax warmer I wanted on a timer which only had 2 outlets on it. The timer blocked the other outlet which could only be used when living room lamps/switch was "on". At holidays I need more outlets in that area so will use the untimed outlets then. No more tangle of extension cords, timers and moving the heavy buffet!

Excellent Two-in-One Device Available at a Great Price; Cord is 4 Foot Long(Not 6 Foot)
I ordered this surge protector to take control of the cord clutter around my TV. Between the cable modem, the wireless router, the cordless phone and other assorted devices, this area simply looked awful. The Century surge protector has solved my dilemma perfectly. It has 8 outlets; four that can be set with the timer function and four that are on any time the surge protector is turned on. The outlets are spaced perfectly so that you are able to plug all sorts of different shaped plugs into them and not block any of the other outlets. Therefore you can actually use all 8 outlets. This was not true for the power strip I had previously. There is a switch on the side of the surge protector that you slide on or off to determine if the 4 outlets on the timer side will be on constantly, or on per your timer setting. I have no need to put any of my devices on a timer, so I chose to slide this switch to the "constantly on" setting. There is a second switch on the side of the surge protector that will let you turn the power on and off to the device without unplugging it. It's a nice little plus if you want to conserve energy by turning off the power to the devices you have plugged into the protector when you aren't using them. The only negative thing I have to say about this device is that the cord is not 6 feet as is listed in it's description and on the packing it arrived it. When stretched out completely, mine measured 48 inches(4 feet) rather than 60 inches(6 feet). However, this was still long enough for the surge protector to do the job I needed it to do. I attached a few pics that show the switches as well as the length of the cord. I didn't have a second person here to hold the cord completely stretched out while I snapped the pics, but you can verify that the cord is approx. 48 inches long. I did receive this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review. I am not affiliated with the manufacturer or Amazon in any way; and am providing my unbiased review in an effort to allow my fellow Amazon shoppers to make informed shopping decisions.

Works well but is loud.
Update: Century Products, Inc. contacted me after they saw my original review and went out of their way to make things right. They sent me a replacement outlet & surge protector that runs quietly. Apparently the one I received originally was defective. I appreciate the great customer service and happy I can use this product as intended in a bedroom without disrupting the occupant. Original review: It works really well but the scheduled timer wheel rotates so loudly that I have to turn it off to sleep or even be in the same room, defeating the scheduled timer purpose. It would be fine in a room where people don't have to spend time in. Wish there was something that did what this device does but is silent when operating.
