good for fine motor skills and special needs kids
So I have been thinking about getting this silly pig for five months now and I finally broke down and got it. I don't know why I didn't get it sooner, this thing is great. It is nice that I waited long enough to get the "new" version, although I'm not sure how much has really changed. My daughter is 18 months old but is special needs and has global delays. I read several websites and blogs recommending this to help with fine motor control. After watching my daughter deligently attempting to put coins in this pig I can definitely say that it helps with working on that skill. My husband and I both commented on how we would have given up on trying to put the coins in - his phrase was along the lines of he would have thrown it across the floor. Luckily my daughter has more perseverance than both of us and keeps putting those silly little coins into the silly pig. I had this pig on my daughter's Amazon Christmas list for relatives, but no one got it for her and now that I think back, I'm not sure she would have been ready then. I think a typical one year old may catch on, but my original desire for this toy was to help teach the concept "in". While it will help with that, kiddos need decent fine motor control to maneuver the coins. I'm excited to see her use this toy to develop her fine motor skills!

BEST 1st Bday gift!
BEST 1st Bday gift! My daughter received this for her first birthday last month. Even 5 weeks later she still loves it. I was surprised that less than 24 hours she had everything figured out. Pros * Perfect size for my petite 1 year but still big enough for older kids. My 3 year old niece loved it too! * Holds my daughter's attention longer than anything else. * Durable! Our piggy is kicked, thrown and dropped everyday for over a month. 100% holding up, even the door. * Easy for 1+ ages to operate everything independently. *Teaches fine motor skills. * 10 coins! Because you know some will get lost ( plus you can buy replacement coins! ) * The coins are large and durable. No choking hazards. * Adorable songs and noises when his nose is pressed. * Teaches counting to ten in English and Spanish ( You are able to turn Spanish off but there is no off for English) *Comes with batteries, * A toy that will be interesting for more than a year or two. * Great Price! Cons * I only wish it would give just a little more time between inserting coins and counting before it resets. If you take too long before inserting the next coin instead of it counting 1 2 3 - 10 it will restart at one again. My daughter can normally it it to 8 though. This is a petty complaint. I loved this gift so much that I already bought one for my 1 year niece's bday. This will be my go to gift for the little ones for sure!

Adorable educational toy
This pig is adorable! Bought it as a gift for my 2 year old niece and it's all I hoped for. Colors are as shown. Quality seems good as the toy is sturdy. Works perfectly. The voice is really cute. Like the educational nature and simplicity. The songs are simple. The button on the back (setting 1) counts in English and 2 in Spanish. The plastic coins go in fairly easily and get counted as they go in one by one. The door opens nicely down on the side and reinforces the words "open" and "closed". Pushing the nose also teaches some words and the little songs are adorable. Very happy and hope my niece will have as much fun as my husband and I had playing with it before we give it to her. Recommended!

Pure Play Value For Toddlers. Ducational and fun toy!
Here's a great toy that fulfills the promise to grow with the child. I bought this for my granddaughter when she just started walking. She hadn't mastered putting the coins in the slot, but loved feeling the pieces and opening and closing the door to the plastic piggy bank. I was happy with the purchase because it entertained her. When I went I visit weeks later, she knew how to put the big plastic coins in the slot! The electronic voice counts, in English and Spanish. She only knows how to point to each one but doesn't know the numbers yet. But, I'm really glad I bought this inexpensive toy. She goes to it every single day, rare for ANY toy. I guess it might be the new 'must have basic' toy for learning counting, fine motor coordination, etc.

Keeps Kids Interested
I gave this to my now 4-1/2 year old granddaughter a couple of years ago and she still plays with it. The trouble is that her younger sister who is 20 months old wants to play with it too so there is often a little skirmish. This adorable little pig counts in English and Spanish as you put the coins in. He also says encouraging things and you can change what he says by moving a little sliding button. The coins are a great large size for little children's hands and more than large enough so that you don't have to worry about them being swallowed or eaten--by kids anyway. I can't really tell you why this toy successfully spans the test of time better than what seems like 1,000 other toys my granddaughters have to choose from, but it has. I just bought one for my nephew. I hope he enjoys it as much as those two little girls do.

Great toy that targets a wide age range as well as several developmental skills
I am a pediatric occupational therapist and I love this toy! Not only do I use this in my practice, but I just recently bought this for my baby niece. This toy helps target fine motor skills including but not limited to: hand-eye coordination, dexterity, bilateral coordination, motor planning, visual perceptual skills, color identification and sorting, counting, problem soliving, cause and effect, and more! This is also a toy that can grow with a child. Babies can begin to play with it to learn to grasp, toddlers can pick up and place into slot, and pre-K children can learn to count, sort, name colors, and take turns!

16-24+ months is a great age range for this toy. It's pretty durable. There are 10 large colorful coins (numbered 1-10 on one side and an animal on the other)your child can put into the bank at the top. The pig counts 1-10 for each coin put in the slot. On the second level it counts in English and Spanish. If the pigs nose is pushed it talks about its nose and tail or sings a song. When the belly is opened the pig says "open/close". This is a good toy for colors, numbers, animals and eye/hand coordination. Children can use both hands at the same time to do different things (to hold the pig and put the coin in at the top) which is an importiant developmental skill. Overall it was inexpensive and even the 5 year old plays with it.

All children Love this pig!
This pig has everything babies love and is jam-packed with learning features too. Little ones love cause and effect and love putting the coins into the slot. I was shocked that my 12 month old could do it right away. I imagine with younger babies you’d need to guide their hands. After that the pig counts as the coins clink into the tummy. Because the tummy has a clear door, the baby can also see the coins dropping inside. Then the baby opens up the pig, spills out the coins and starts all over... again... and again... and again. The coins are numbered on one side and have an animal on the other, and you get 2 of each color/animal. Good for matching and learning animals, colors, and numbers 1-10. Also, if you press the pig’s noise he oinks or sings. The pig has 2 learning modes (as all FP smart stages toys do), and the second mode is more advanced with commands, as well as colors and numbers in Spanish. You see this pig around daycares, preschools, doctor’s offices, etc. It’s becoming a “classic” baby toy. And it’s no wonder, kids absolutely love it. Even my 4 year old wants to play with it. And because of the smart stages, there really is something for her to learn through playing with it too! (The Spanish words and reinforcing her number identification). It’s also good for learning to take turns - each child gets 5 coins, one of each color and they take turns putting in one coin as a time. So far, no squabbles over the pig. It’s a good toy for cooperative play.

Such a simple toy - bought this for our granddaughter when she was about 6 months old. She is going on to two - and still loves it. She is over at our house about once a week. This toy is still one that she seeks to play with - The coins she has teethed on, stacked, and enjoys dropping them through the pig's slot. She loves to hug and kiss the pig, and press his nose to hear him sing the different couple songs - which she dances to. This toy is quality made.

Toddler Approved! Love it!
Bought this for my 17 month old. Right away he loved it and weeks later still does. Very cute. Has several cute songs and phrases. Has a level 1 and level 2 switch that counts in English and Spanish. Both levels are enjoyable. My son loves to push its nose and hear it sing! He also loves to put the coins in the slot and stays entertained for at least 30 minutes if not an hour. A great enducational toy for my little one!
