Great stocking holders
These are great stocking holders! I had my doubts about how sturdy they are, despite the many rave reviews, but they truly are super-sturdy and would not easily be pulled down.

Safe, sturdy, and simple, yet pretty!
Dang! So glad I found these! With little kids the hooks (with giant metal figurines on them) scared me so much because with a good tug they’d come falling down (with the potential to literally kill the kids). Of course, my amazon search did not disappoint! These are worth EVERY PENNY and I didn’t have to adjust them at all to fit my mantle and the kids can pull on them and they don’t budge! (Which tells me come Christmas morning I can leave the full stockings hung with items inside which is fun!!) So thankful I found these that I had to leave a review for others to read - I highly recommend!

Awesome!
These hooks were able to hold a fully loaded LLBean stocking and not fall off the edge. I am impressed. Also, my decorative mantle wouldn't have been able to hold 7 fully loaded stockings, so we had to use the edge of our long tv table, which has a curved or beveled edge and the hooks still hung on without an actual lip to clip on to. There is a thin rubberized strip on the underside of the top piece that protects your mantle from being scratched, and provides some traction so the hook doesn't slip around too much. There is another strip of rubber on the bottom of the curve that would come in contact with the bottom of the mantle. These are strong, well balanced, utility hooks and I would recommend them to anyone. The only thing I wish we're better is how easy they can slide from side to side, but I suppose if my hooks were actually applied on a mantle edge, this wouldn't be a problem.

I love them!
Excellent quality. Well worth the price! I am very happy with my purchase. My significant other wanted me to go to Walmart of Target to try and find something cheaper, I was like... yeah but these reviews are really good and I don’t want to go running around looking and wasn’t my time. Theses are perfect!

UPDATED REVIEW: Low profile Christmas stocking holders
UPDATE: I was shown the way! I am changing my rating from 3 to 5 stars. Held Santa's stocking stuffers quite nicely. So why did I give it a 3? They are durable, good quality and I like the low profile. Problem is they don’t hold the stocking if the stocking is stuffed! I tested them....very disappointed but kept them anyway. We plan to lay stockings on the hearth once filled...bah humbug!

bought after Christmas
Since I bought post-holidays, I can't vouch for how they do with stockings, filled or otherwise. But I will say that they are very classy and sophisticated looking in their simplicity, and actually fit on my mantle. I have what i thought was a common carved wood mantle, but it turns out that NONE of the standard drop-hook weighted stocking holders will work due to the carving of the mantle sticking out an inch past the flat surface/top of the mantle. I debated between these clips and the standing version, but since i like to put lots of various things on my mantle during the holidays, including all Christmas greeting cards, I decided that the low top profile of this version would suit my needs better. I had to bend them open to fit my 3" mantle, and even then the carved shape makes the fit possibly "iffy", but that is in no way the fault of the product. I was a tad alarmed how easy the metal was to bend, since it has a thick sturdy appearance, but it bent smoothly and maintained the curve of the design properly, so i was pleased. The clear plastic strips are not "gummy", they are simply to protect your wood from metal, and do not really add to the staying power of the clips. an added bonus side effect of having to bend the clips was that the small hook at the end is now more hook-like, making the possibilty of the stockings sliding off obsolete *update* I hung a purse from the hooks with zero adverse effect, I'm confident that a filled stocking will hang just as well next Christmas! TL:DR- great hooks for non-standard mantles, would recommend

I was SO happy when my hooks came in
I was SO happy when my hooks came in. I posted them online with a pic of my stockings & everyone asked where I bought them. They are a lot stronger than I imagined. Highly recommend if you have a thick ledge, like I do.

What to do if they're too BIG
Not sure why I didn't think of this immediately, but if you--like me--are about to return it because your mantle is too thin, and the hooks don't clamp on: just squeeze the hook and bend it tighter! It takes very little force; easy to do. The instructions should list this, but they don't. My mantle is about 1.5" thick, so out of the box the clip was way too big. But then it hit me!! In all other aspects, these clips are highly recommended!

Work great!
I was skeptical, but took the chance because I saw a lot of good reviews. These things work great! They can handle weight and bulky items inside the stocking and they grip really well. I was afraid they would fall off the mantle, but they didn’t. When I took them down, I actually had to pull them off because they had sealed to the mantle. I was afraid it would pull the paint off, but didn’t. These worked perfectly and look very nice!

They Work!
I had my doubts, and they were a bit pricey, but totally worth it. They work, they look nice, no fuss, just put them in place and hang the stockings by the chimney with care.
