I have two German Shepherds so I am a dog poop expert. Let's just say I've picked up a lot of fecal material, far more than most. I always use bags to pick up after my dogs both in my yard (I find the only way to keep up on it is to pick them up immediately) and on walks. I've tried many different poop bags including some commercial bags that normally supply parks and stuff. Amazonbasics poop bags are best, I have been using them since 2015 but am just writing the review now, apparently I didn't need the helpful votes I mean because I wanted to thoroughly test them. - They hardly ever fail or break. I would say lowest failure/breakage rate of any bag I have ever used. - They are just the right size for a good sized load from an 80 lb German Shepherd. But they'll handle smaller loads too. - They are black and pretty opaque. Does anybody really want to see the load? - They are unscented. Scented bags don't hide anything they just add a gross artificial scent to the natural poop aroma - They seem to be slightly thicker than other bags. I haven't actually confirmed this, like I haven't measured it with a micrometer or anything, but it seems to be the case. Some competitors bags are so thin they feels kinda dicey when you pick up a hot mess. - Did I mention they are BLACK? Black is the only color poop bags should ever be made in. Nobody wants to carry a turd in a translucent blue or light green bag for the duration of their morning walk. "Hi Dave, nice seeing you today" (waves with hand holding turd in a bag as the other one has the leashes ... now do you want that turd to be silhouetted by the morning sun in a translucent blue bag or do you want it in a nice opaque black?). - They come with a nifty dispenser ... I know, so do many competing products, but again this is a nice low profile black. - I feel like AmazonBasics brands are normally geared to be very basic/value products, while that is the case they are a good value these are the best I have tried at any price. This is everything you need in a poop bag. If you are looking for a handy way to carry around your best friend's bowel movements on your daily walks, or to just pick it up in your yard, look no further. These are craptastic.

As someone who has had years of experience using doggy waste bags, I was so happy to see that the AmazonBasics line now contained this much needed staple. I currently am using two other brands, Bags on Board and Downtown Pet Supply. All three are comparable in size with the Amazon brand being a little wider at 9” than the other two at 8-¾ “. Bags on Board seems to vary in height depending upon the style. The largest that I have used is 14” high compared to the 13” of the AmazonBasics and 12-½” for the Downtown bags. All the bags come in the same width roll which allows the bag dispensers to be interchangeable, though the included Amazon dispenser seems to be just a bit more roomy allowing for easier dispensing of a full roll. The Amazon bags are my favorite, a basic black color, which helps to conceal the contents and they came packaged in a nice frustration free box. More importantly, they feel thicker than the other two brands. The thicker feel makes them seem more secure to me both for picking up the waste and for tying and carrying. Another plus is the printed up arrow with text “open this end” which helps avoid the struggle of trying to open the wrong side of a bag while hanging onto dog leashes.

The bags DO fit in the dispenser - I have no idea why people are saying that. The dispenser is also just a freebie - I couldn't care less if the thing breaks. The bags are 12.5" x 8.5". All I know is that PetSmart charges $20 for 240 bags ($.08/ea) You can get similar bags from Ross/Marshalls for $5 ($.02/ea) I bought 900 bags for about 1 cent each....I can use 7 bags every time my dog poops and still be getting a better deal than PetSmart.

I never knew picking up dog poop could be such an amazing time. As soon as I took one of the black plastic bags from the wonderful included clip, rainbows exploded from my dog and it was basically Mardi Gras in the dog park. PROS: +Bags are black +Bags arent transparent, so I cant see the mess +Rainbows +Included dispenser is an excellent value PS, I LOVE THE ARROWS POINTING TO THE OPENING!!!!! No longer do I look like an idiot trying to open the bag from the wrong end while my dog gives me that WTF look. Thank you AmazonBasics!

Pros: - Slightly thicker than competitors - Resilient and strong plastic - Easy to open and separate from other bags on the roll - Good quality control (each bag is the same with clean seals and even thickness throughout) - Excellent value & comes with bag dispenser Cons: - Uses "single" seal vs the "double" seal used by some competitors PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: I own 3 dogs – 1 Yorkie/Miniature Shnauzer mix, and 2 Decker Rat Terriers (one is a puppy). My Yorkie mix is about 13 pounds, and my Decker Rat Terriers are 27 pounds and 18 pounds. Even though they are slightly on the smaller size for dogs, believe me, the Decker Rat Terriers sure eat a lot and let out A LOT at a good size! As you can imagine, waste bags are absolutely essential for me. When walking 3 dogs at once, you not only need a lot of waste bags, you need them to be dependable! Nothing is worse than having poopie hands while you're still on a walk... . I have been using Out! waste bags for quite a while now, and to be honest, I have been completely satisfied. At the normal price, the Out! waste bags come out to be about $0.053 per bag OUT! Rainbow Dog Waste Pick-Up Bags, 120-Pack, as compared to the AmazonBasics which can come out to be as low as $0.016 per bag (if you purchase 900). When comparing the AmazonBasics waste bags to the the Out! waste bags, I noticed a few notable differences: - THICKNESS: AmazonBasics are slightly thicker than the Out! bags. I included a side by side picture showing each roll next to each other (each roll contains 15 bags) and the AmazonBasics roll is clearly thicker. I also included a side by side picture showing one bag of each laid flat out flat. My granite counter tops can be seen somewhat clearly through the Out! bags, but the black color of the AmazonBasics bag also reduces its transparency. Regardless, with careful inspection, it is clear that the AmazonBasics bags are thicker. - SEAL: AmazonBasics uses a "single" seal at the bottom of the bag while Out! uses a "double" seal. I included a picture of each to show what I am referring to. - RESILIENCY/DURABILITY: AmazonBasics is more resilient than the Out! waste bags. The Out! bags were consistently easier to stretch until torn and poke through than the AmazonBasics bag. When rubbing the bags against concrete (for those pesky times your dog decides to go potty on the sidewalk...), the Out! bags would stretch and tear relatively easily, whereas the AmazonBasics bags would still hold up to gentle scraping against concrete. I ensured to test this out with multiple bags from both AmazonBasics and Out!, and from different rolls, to ensure I was still getting the same results. - ODOR BLOCKING: AmazonBasics is more odor blocking. In a more subjective test, I used both bags to pick up the same dog waste and compared which bag was able to hold in the odor the best (gross...I know...and you're welcome btw so you don't have to try this yourself). As expected, the AmazonBasics bag smelled less than the Out! bags (but you could definitely still smell it!). CONCLUSION: Based on my comparison, the AmazonBasics waste bags was the overall winner in nearly every category. AmazonBasics bags are stronger, thicker, retain odor within the bag better, and are also the cheapest. The only area where AmazonBasics can be perceived to fall short is that it uses a "single" seal instead of a "double" seal. However, in practical use, the AmazonBasics bags had absolutely no issue with leaks and I am confident that the "single" seal is perfectly fine. At this price and quality, I would easily recommend the AmazonBasics bags as the winner.

I've gone through a few brands that were too hard to open, didn't tear at the perforation, were too small, or were transparent. I was satisfied with the HertzCo brand and would have been a customer for life, but the company confirmed for me via email that they no longer manufacturer the bags. So trusting the Amazon reviews and ratings, tried out these AmazonBasics bags and am very pleased. Big enough for a 90# dog with room to tie easily, not transparent, as easy to open as my previous brand. I've probably used 20 rolls now and only one bag ripped (before use, thankfully). I'd rather trade the printing for a cost cut, because most often I know which end was opposite the perforation for opening, but on occasion, the dogs divert my attention mid-prep and the little printed arrow indicating the open end is helpful. The included dispenser is a nice bonus with a good clasp, as you never know when someone else less attentive in your household will lose a dispenser.

We bought the previous version of these bags and liked them except for the difficulty tearing them apart and the little label that holds the roll together. When it came time to order more I looked at all the other products on the market and planned to buy any of them EXCEPT this one. In the end, we purchased these again hoping that the company had listened to the many negative comments about how hard they are to tear apart. Much to our surprise, they fixed the problem! The bags separate very easily now! Wonderful! This is how the system is supposed to work! Thank you to Amazon, to the all the other people that complained, and finally to the manufacturer for listening to the comments and taking positive action! Now that I have your attention, I have one more comment - a suggestion. We always pick up after our dog. I have a roll of bags in every jacket and car. What I find very frustrating now is that the roll will unravel from my pocket, fall on the ground, and roll away. What a mess. What an embarrassment when I'm in the grocery story! Reminds me of a roll of TP unraveling! I've tried putting rubber bands around the roll but its hard to find one strong enough and small enough. By the time you get down to the last few bags the roll diameter is so small you have to wrap the rubber band around it 2 - 3 times. Ugg. I've also tried that plastic container you provide that's supposed to hold the roll, but it awkward and too bulky. I've tried using the little label that comes on each roll - it works for a while but you have to be VERY careful with the label or you'll tear it in half and then its mostly useless. If the labels were made of a stronger material (plastic?) and a bit bigger, they would be perfect for the job. The cost should be very low (1/10 of a cent or less?). I'd even pay more for the roll if I didn't have to worry about them unraveling. Thanks for listening (I hope).

After decades of dog ownership we have had a variety of experiences following after our dog on walks, policing the yard, etc. It seems brands come and go (no pun intended) and occasionally we've enjoyed a waste bag that deserves 5 stars. This is one of them. The Amazon Basics Dog Waste Bags (900 qty) hit all the spots - cost, quality, user friendliness. Pros: 1.Handy arrow pointing to the end to open 2.Reliable perforations to tear along 3.Easier to separate the bag sides (some bags seem almost glued closed but not these) 4.The bag thickness is greater than most, less stretching and tearing (and consequently less cursing and yelling) 5.Bag printing has a purpose and is a great read/translator for those working on their multilingual prowess. I can't wait for the audiobook version. 6. A subscription is available for people with 4 Great Danes or other waste prolific breeds 7. Not see through (self explanatory) Cons: 1. The plastic these are made from (low density polyethylene) isn't readily biodegradable Update: it's April 2019 and we've used 2-3 daily. Nothing negative has been revealed over these 6 months. Will buy again.

I was a firm advocate of Dollar Tree's puppy poo bags. Why spend more money on something you literally put poop in and throw away? I ended up ordering these because we had 2 BIG foster dogs that were going through bags very quickly and I didn't have time to get to dollar tree for more. (2 hour delivery? Yes please!) I will be sticking with these from now on. They are MUCH thicker than the dollar tree ones, and far easier to tear. As for reviews that say these hold in odor better, I can't speak to that. Poop stinks. A bag doesn't change that. I wish their bag holder had a clip on it (I stick my use bags in a clip on my current holder so I don't have to hold them in my hand.). This is the most minute thing ever though, so I do not knock off a star for this.
