Delicious, Weird Texture, but Im gonna buy more!
Wow, I was expecting them to be bad. They are really good in fact, and I wouldn't mind eating them during non-emergencies. It tastes like a lemon shortbread biscuit. It's only semi sweet, but sweet enough to be satisfying. It does have a VERY odd texture though once chewed; I think this is part of the 'non thirst provoking formula' they advertise. Before chewed they are very dense. Almost compacted. When you chew it up, the pieces are almost like.. hydrophobic. Meaning they don't absorb water. The texture isn't bad, but it's very different. You'd have to try it for yourself to understand, it's probably nothing like anything you've eaten. (texturally) That aside I like them, and will buy more. I wish they could extend the timespan of these a bit, I think 10-15 years would make them much more suitable for mass purchase. I mean, if I buy 1,000 of them.. prob 920+ will likely go to waste. If they could bump it to 10 years awesome, 15 years then I'd be sold to pile up big time.

Solid emergency rations with good taste
Took 2 packs of these on a 4 day hike with 2 friends in the Appalachians last week just in case we didn't have any luck catching fish. Its a good thing we brought them too, it was still very cold (frost on the ground each morning) and none of us particularly felt like getting wet. Each pack is scored into 9 pieces (3x3), each piece being roughly 400 cal. We all agreed that the taste was much better than anticipated, like shortbread with just a hint of lemon. Most emergency rations I've sampled have had far too much sugar, that was not the case with these. 1 square was enough for a meal; I'm 6'2 200lbs and was satisfied. No negative impact on digestion and the like. The packaging was appropriate, appeared as though it could easily protect the rations for the 5 yr shelf life but was also easy to open, which is good considering the intended purpose and audience. I'll be keeping a few packs handy for hiking, bug out, storms etc. Some customers had complained that their bars arrived broken up, but mine were whole even after 2 days/15 miles/2900ft of elevation in the bottom of my pack.

Good Value. Good taste. Fills you up.
UPDATE!!! I had a long drive, so I figured I would give these a try. There are nine sections/bars to this ration. Each bar has approx 400 calories. It is not nine individually wrapped. It is a block of nine bars. I had one bar every four hours for the 16 hour drive. The bar has the taste and texture of sugar cookie dough, but a little drier and more solid. That and water was all I needed. I was hungry when the time came for the next one, but there was no sugar high or crash. I did have the urge to snack when stopping for gas, but did not NEED to eat anything between the rations. Understand, I am a big guy, but I was only driving, so I am sure things would be different if I was physically exerting myself. The foil bag they are in is not conducive to resealing the rations between servings, so if you open this, either put it in a airtight container or eat it quickly. After my trip, I finished the bars off by eating one for breakfast or lunch until they were gone. Since I put them in a ziploc, they were fine even a week after the package was opened. These are a good value and I recommend them. Heck... They taste so goo, my wife is hoping the zombies attack.

Taste Great!
I was hesitant going into eating these, but i cracked the package open to give it a taste test and i was pleasantly surprised! The taste is of a buttery lemon flavor, not overpowering. The consistency is a little crumby, but holds together well and when you are chewing it, it feels like you are eating a sugar cookie almost. I opened the package right away so i cant speak for its shelf life. I bought another package and i will update my post a year from now after having it in my car where the season highs in the north east are 100+ and the lows are below zero. I am currently finishing off the package as an office snack!

Tastes like a lemon cookie.
I bought two packages of these. One to try and one to put in my go-bag. I would describe the flavor and texture as something similar to a lemon shortbread cookie. Which is both good and bad. Good because I like the flavor, texture, and size. Bad because I have eaten 3 since dinner and I am stupid full right now.

Shut up and take my money!
I teach in "bush" Alaska, and am always looking for emergency rations to take with me hunting, ice fishing, etc. This year I'm in the Aleutians and we get very high winds and no-fly conditions for a week or more at a time. The only things flying then are the angels and the coast guard, which is for most purposes the same thing. I carry granola bars (good), Sailor boy pilot bread (the Alaska staple) and peanut butter (good but crackers are stale tasting unless toasted). Canned food and MREs are heavy, and MRE's are expensive. I just weighed 3 MREs that range from 18 ounces to 22 ounces, and are about 1200 calories each. This 3600 calorie bar weighed just over 24 ounces, far less than the 3 MREs required for the same number of calories. Survival situations in Alaska often require a lot of calories, as people tend to be wet and cold. This is a very low cost way to carry good tasting concentrated calories. I bought some of these bars and one of the three I ordered must have had a hole in it as it lost the vacuum seal. This became the one I taste tested. My wife, 2 children, and I all liked the bars, I thought they tasted like a vanilla wafer cookie, but with more of a lemon flavor than vanilla. My wife used to be a girl scout and says they taste like the lemon trefoil (shortbread) cookie. The lemon flavor is not strong, and these were sweetish, but not sweet enough to make me thirsty. I'm going to try a couple of days on these but I'm very impressed with the price and taste so far. It's pretty hard to get a day's worth of long-term storable portable food for this price.

Product was already open?!? UPDATE: GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE
Update: customer service was extremely quick and helpful. They replaced the ruined packages. For me personally, customer service takes tve cake with most things. I did also taste one and theyre shockingly edible for the palette. I would recommend! Previous review: One of the packages arrived already open! Clearly someone with a boxcutter accidentally sliced it open. So much for that 5-year shelf life huh? Really disappointed.

Great storage and nutrient content
The packaging was nice and compact making for easy storage, highly useful for a GOOD bag. The squares aren't individually wrapped which means you should carry a plastic bag with it. They are quite dense and you can immediately feel this when you pick it up. Downside is that you can practically taste the sugar and shortening in it (not very flavorful), but the nutrient content is sufficient as far as emergency rations go. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with this and plan on buying three more for my personal GOOD bag.

Tastes like a shortbread cookie! Filling!
Tastes like a shortbread cookie. Has the texture of a very dense shortbread cookie. The package is actually heavy because of how dense these bars are. Packed with calories, and vitamins. Fills you up! I ate three of these in one day and nothing else and didn't feel hungry at all (I'm 21, a 5' 9" tall guy, 175-180lb). Also, it surprisingly is non-thirst provoking but I found that it does go well with a cup of coffee in the morning. Because it's so filling but only 1200 calories/day, I can see people using this as a weight loss food (even though people would argue that it's meant for the exact opposite). Overall, it's a great product at the price! I will be buying again!

Seems like a good deal to me
At first, I was hesitant to write a review on this, since I haven't actually eaten it. Then I realized, this is EMERGENCY food and how it tastes almost totally irrelevant: 3600 calories, 5 year shelf life, and can be stored anywhere from -22F to 149F... all for under $13? Seems like a good deal to me! I bought 2 of these: one for my BoB and one for my car trunk emergency kit. I love that I don't have to worry about it spoiling or anything during the hot summer months. ( I still slipped it into the folds of a wool blanket I have in there as part of the kit but that was just for good measure) . The packaging is very sturdy and designed to lay flat, so it's easy t slip this into a briefcase or backpack without wasting any space. Highly recommended. I suppose if you buy emergency food rations for daily snacks, you may not find my review very helpful so to those people, I apologize: =)
