My 5 year old grandson is really into Legos so I bought this for him for Christmas along with the Legos Idea Book and he has spent soooo many hours sitting at his table creating new Lego things. The large classic brick box has a lot of pieces to it and can be used in many, many different ways. There are 790 pieces in the box along with different sizes of window, tires, rims, base plates, etc. Many hours of enjoyable fun for kids.

I am happy with this purchase but I wish that they would actually fill the box. The box is sturdy and will be great for storing the toy when kids are not playing with them. From a teaching perspective, these are great to foster engineering thinking in kids. I prefer the miscellaneous blocks because it does not assign what they must become. The kits have pieces that are so specific that they can really only be one thing. Those are great for teaching to follow directions but lack creativity. The colors are vibrant and the product is sturdy. I guess the box leaves room for purchasing another kit so that you can store them together.

A winner. A great price at $39 for the big box. Bought 2 n made a Lego table n the grandkids n I can build for hours with the assortment of pieces n windows etc in each box. Nice because I don't need to worry about certain pieces staying together to complete a piece. I am 57 n get a lot of stress relief time working on my creations. I came up with an artistic n easy way to hold n build , right in my living room. The grandkids unplug at gramas n find this a lot of fun.

Lego classics are awesome! I am somewhat partial, I loved Legos as a child and these classics remind me of my Lego buckets. I'm guessing Lego responded to public demand for something other than a kit to build a specific item. Lego in general are educational, the kits have taught my 5 and 3 year old to follow directions without having to read and the larger kits have provided us with fun family time. This collection will inspire them to use their imagination to build whatever they please in whatever color they wish. I have attached two pictures to show how the bricks are bagged and the back paper of the exact bricks you will receive. Several windows, doors, baseplates, wheels, ramps, dots, building bricks, smooth finishing pieces - see picture for exact color and number of each piece. The yellow storage brick is also nice if you do not already have a place for your Legos. I am planning on using it as decor for their Lego themed bday party. If you are looking for other Lego storage options, ikea trofast drawer system was an inexpensive way to organize by color. If you are just getting introduced to Legos, do not expect it to be full once the bags are opened and dumped. You will receive 790 pieces and this retails for $60. At the Lego rule of 10 cents per Lego, this seems to be a great deal. This box full of Legos would be hundreds of dollars. Lego has been around for generations so there isn't a question of durability or craftsmanship. If you need an activity for your children, looking to add to an existing set, giving a gift for a Lego lover this set will be a perfect choice. Anyone who gets involved with Legos knows the obsession that follows to have more bricks, so just add on! I also recommend the classic bright set, that was a great purchase to add the "girl" colors to my boys collection of stereotypical boy colors. The classic medium set was ok, but I probably wouldn't purchase that again, I would get the bright set or this large box again.

The Large lego classic has a lot of bricks to keep the young ones busy. However the baseplate is a small one, so going to buy a bigger base plate and this box doesn't have little lego people. Other than that this large box is a pretty good starter kit. My 4yr old loves it! Keeps her busy for hours so it deserves a 5 star rating.

i bought the 'classic' set for our niece for her birthday and its a great starter set. sure there are all the other sets that can make certain things, but we wanted to get the origional-your-own-ideas-lego set. birthday is not here yet, but i know she will love it. i just wish we had all those coloured bricks, windows, wheels and accessories when i was a kid playing with the starter set so many years ago.

We still spend hours playing. I loved the easy to understand instructions. It was easy enough for my 4 year old granddaughter to understand and put things together. I loved the various bright colors and how they were sorted. We've only done the items in the instruction book, but are looking forward to using other layouts. The pieces are a bit small for more 4 year olds, though. She was not frustrated by them at all, but she also does a lot of puzzles so has pretty good hand/eye coordination.

This is a great basic set. It inspires creativity since it does not build just 1 thing. Though your child has to be interested in building before this makes sense. I love the bright colors. The box is about 1/2 full, so there is plenty of room for more. It really has a ton of pieces in it. Many are quite small so I'm sure some have been lost with my 3 1/2 year old playing with it. She was no longer challenged by the Duplo so I thought this was great next step up.

This was what we expected. Mostly ordinary building pieces with a few specialty items. Our grandkids like to build on large baseplates and we knew this didn't include one, so we ordered that separately (32x32). It's surprising how fast you use up Lego pieces when building projects, so we're glad we got this large set. Of course, like everybody, Lego gets the large part count by including lots of the smaller parts. One advantage of these classic sets is that they encourage creativity rather than just following instructions to build one specific model.

Box was very sturdy and all Legos were separated into bags by color. Easy to open plastic packaging and easy to see what parts each had inside. We got this for our son to add more blocks to his collection and it served the purpose it was intended for.
