This remote is Amazing! Takes the headache out of recording when you can't actually see the camera. You'll know when you're recording, how much battery is left, and how much memory space is left, with just the flick of the wrist! Take pics or video, or adjust the settings with this remote. I believe it can even power on/off your GoPro. If you own a GoPro that this remote is compatible with, you need this remote!

Perfect solution

I bought this to use when I am kayaking. My gopro is mounted on the front of my kayak beyond arms reach, and it isnt easy to use a phone and paddle at the same time. This was the perfect solution. It is very easy to use and paired with my gopro seamlessly. The only negative thing is that the battery life is somewhat short. I wish it had removable batteries like the gopro so I could switch them out. Once the batteries are down, it has to be plugged in. One other negative that won't apply to everyone is that the wrist strap that was included is quite large. I have small wrists, and I have to strap it around my forearm or it moves up and down my arm. So if you have small wrists, be aware that if may no fit snugly.

Brand new official GoPro remote

I purchased from this seller because my tax exemption is set up on Amazon and not with the official GoPro site. The item arrived on time just like all prime packages, and works as advertised.

Better than using phone app.

I mostly use the GoPro for taking videos while flying. I tried using the app on the phone to record/start/stop but it didn’t always work that great or sometimes would lose connection because camera is mounted outside the plane. I bought the smart remote and have been very happy with it. It’s easy to set up and doesn’t seem to use as much battery on the camera as compared to controlling it with the phone app. I haven’t had any issues with it losing connection plus it’s super easy to hit that big red button to start and stop without fumbling around. I was initially hesitant at spending more money on something that the phone app does for free but I’m glad I did.

Pros: - waterproof - good distance - charges fast - LCD display allows for access to setting/mode - wristband Cons: - I would sometimes have connection issues with my Hero 6, but a quick restart would always reconnect (the connection issue could be the Hero itself and not the remote) - battery life could be a bit better

Good product and worth the extra cost over the third party brands. I bought two remotes by different manufacturers before buying this one. The first lasted less than a year, the second would not sync with my camera so I settled on paying a little more for the real deal GoPro State Remote. It is also much easier to use with the three buttons over the other brands with only two buttons. Buy it. Kevin G

Almost a must have.

This remote works like a charm. It's very useful when wanting to film or photo something with you in it. It has great distance for the signal and you can control the start/stop of the video without touching the camera. Good buy!

More pros than cons...

Well, there's nothing amazing about this remote but I didn't think anyone was expecting much. The connection reaches far enough and the battery last as long or longer than the camera. Its waterproof so that's a positive. Overall it works great and is a must for most activities. Note: connection is lost when submerged under water so there is no use when diving.

Work great

I love the design of the control, it last a pretty long time if you shut it off if you are not needing it. I like the texture it has nice grip to it so it dose slip out of your hand or fall off you wrist. This is well Worth it if you need to know if your camera is recording or not helps a lot. The buttons are a nice feel and easy to push.
