I ordered this gadget Saturday and got it Monday morning, now that is quick service. I have been looking at this for some time, decided to go to BEST BUY to get it quick. BB wanted $30 for the DAAC and $18 for the TOSlink cable plus taxes. Decided on Amazon! It works exactly as advertised, THE BUZZ NOISE COMPLAINED ABOUT IN OTHER REVIEWS WAS SILENCED BY CHANGING THE AUDIO FORMAT on the TV. I had my Samsung Smart TV in my garage hooked up to my portable ION BLOCK ROCKER speaker in under 5 minutes. What would have cost $52 at BB, only cost me $13 with my Amazon Prime and that makes it 5+ STARS! I used the Headphone jack on the DAAC and cable connection to the Aux connection on the portable speaker. To get rid of the buzz noise you need to change the SOUND SETTINGS on the TV. Turn OFF the DOLBY DIGITAL Turn ON the PCM

My older TV didn't have a headphone out jack- just Digital audio out for some bizzare reason. But this Digital audio converter solved the problem easily. What was nice was this package included the AC adapter and USB patch cable for power, the Digital audio patch cord to go from the TV to the converter box, -and this converter box has a handy mini-DIN headphone jack. Plug it in, plug in your headphones, ready to rock. -and very low background noise, it's a good product! Well done!

If you have wireless headphones (I have Sony) where the docking station used to plug into a 3.5 mm audio output jack and your new TV (Mine is Samsung) only has a digital optical audio output jack, this is EXACTLY what you need to be able to use your headphones! In addition to setting the device up (no more than a 5 minute job), I had to change a "Sound" setting on my TV from "Bitstream" to "PCM." I don't know what all this means, but on the Samsung TV I have, it's as simple as MENU / SOUND / EXPERT SETTINGS / HDMI AUDIO FORMAT / PCM. As soon as I made this change, the sound came through Loud and Clear!

Ordered this after purchasing Sennheiser 120 wireless headphones and finding that they would not work with our 42" LG television which has only a digital audio output. I had decided to keep the headphones for stereo use anyway but wanted to find out if such an inexpensive converter would allow me to use them connected to the TV. The connection was easy and it works great! What I like most about it is that it works completely independent of the TV's audio settings. You don't have to go into the TV's audio menu to switch outputs from built in speakers to optical out or anything like that. Turning the volume up or down via the TV's remote has no effect on the volume through the headphones at all. Set the TV's volume to zero and adjust the volume on the headphones to your liking. I know that this will get a lot of use with our TV so I've ordered a second set of headphones for the stereo.

I have a new LG TV which, like quite a few new TV's does not have a headphone or RCA analog output. I had a pair of wireless (not Bluetooth) headphones which I really liked, but was using my Bluetooth headphones with the TV. However, the LG can't provide both Bluetooth and speaker at the same time, which I would often use so that I could hear some sounds better while my spouse could listen to,the soundbar. So I looked up optical to RCA and found this model among many. The reviews were good, and it is inexpensive, so I took the plunge. I attached it today to the TV output and, true to its specs and other reviews, it did not work until I changed the TV output to PCM. I am satisfied with that and very satisfied with the sound. Now, my soundbar also needs to get sound, so I realized I would need to split the optical SPDIF signal. There were some passive splitters, but I decided to be certain and bought the ViewHD Optical Audio 1x3 Splitter. It works perfectly also, and now I can hear clear sound through the sound bar and my headphones.

Got mine today. Arrived on time. Smaller than I though (which is a good thing for something like this.) Easy to use and works very well. My only "complaint" would be that the toslink cable is cheap. I'm glad I already had one. Because I'd be worried about trying to actually run theirs. Worried that even bending it to run it through a stand, might ruin it... But I paid for the converter, not the cable. The converter seems to be of good quality. The power plug is a nice bonus (and better quality than the toslink cable), as you don't have to use a wall outlet for power. It's actually the usb cord in the picture. Which also means, if the cord gets damage, you could easily replace it! Always a plus. Over-all, very happy with this product and would buy again. In fact, I already have a 2nd one on the way. :)

Outstanding value. I purchased two DACs from Amazon recently. The other one cost $1K. Yes, it is better, and it has many more features, inputs, etc. But this one does the basics, i.e., digital to analogue conversion of the 48kHz sampled toslink signal emitted by Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation -- the 4th gen does not have optical out any more). The sound quality is perfectly reasonable. (The other DAC is maybe 10% better, not 83 times better.) I am using this along with an HDMI projector and a small amp and bookshelf speakers in an exercise room and it is more than adequate for the job. One thing to note: On the AppleTV, I had to turn off Dolby Digital in order to get audio rather than a loud buzz. Two-channel DACs like this (and my expensive one) don't decode Dolby digital; they deal with straight PCM, like your music files. So if you get the buzzing noise, fix the audio source. Don't return the product because of this. It is not defective.

The device itself works GREAT. I needed this because new TVs just don't have analog outputs anymore, and I didn't want to change my Pioneer stereo amplifier which only has analog inputs. This little box does the trick, and does it very well, and inexpensively. Sounds quality is very good! The only thing that possibly could have stopped me giving it 5 stars is that the obviously cheaply made USB power adapter supplied with it, isn't of the highest quality - and at loud volumes and during the quiet moments of a TV show, you can hear a slight hum. I changed the adapter for another USB power adapter I had lying around (from a Samsung smartphone) and the hum disappeared completely. The supplied adapter is 5V / 1.0 amp, so find or purchase one of equivalent or slightly higher ampage rating if you get the hum, or just want to order one along with this device. I decided that due to the crazy low price, I could not mark this product down a star for this, since it didn't cost me anything to fix the very slight issue. *** UPDATE *** I purchased a pack of these USB charger adapters, and they work great with this device, and no buzz. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XHGSNGG/

I think my only complaint about this purchase was the incredibly thin Toslink cable that's is included with this kit. Otherwise, the sound quality is excellent and has brought my old RCA Receiver back to life. After purchasing a new LG 4K TV I didn't think about how I'd be able to connect it to my old faithful RCA surround sound setup. Since I haven't really been a big movie / media buff for a while I had put it on the back burner. So after a quick search I found this unit, the price was right so I jumped. Glad I did... this little box does a great job and is powered by the USB port on my TV. My only complaint is that the Toslink, like I mentioned earlier is hair thin. I've never seen an audio cable so thin... we are talking cheap pair of headphones thin! lol. I make mention of this if you have pets or kids that could potentially damage the cable. Otherwise... go for it. Working great with my 20year old receiver.

I had been struggling in recent months to fix the mediocre audio on my new Roku smart TV. My purchase of the Easyday toslink converter was exactly what I needed to move from mediocre to excellent surround sound quality. I never heard of toslink as a digital to analog option, but my research was a major success in addtressing this challenge. It works very well in getting the audio from my Roku TB to my five speaker Panasonic stereo system, which is about 12 years old. I also was able to successfully pair my Comcast/Xfinity remote to be able to turn both the Roku TV and Panasonic stereo system at the Aux 2 setting on and off using just the one Xfinity remote with the same click.
