My family has always loved pineapple, but getting it fresh has always been a hassle to prepare...UNTIL NOW. I thought this little device would be difficult to use, but for the price I decided to give it a try, and I am so glad I did. It arrived quickly, and I had a pineapple waiting. I comes in a box, in two (2) pieces: the stainless steel shaft/blade and a thick plastic handle that pops into the shaft and locks into place. This is great idea for cleaning and storage. And this cutter is SO easy to use! After attaching the handle to the blade/shaft, you cut off the top of the pineapple, place the middle of the shaft/blade over the pineapple core and then just twist the handle (kind of like using a corkscrew). You just keep turning the handle, which turns easily, until the blade stops when it reaches the bottom of the pineapple. Then when you pull the whole cored pineapple comes out...sliced! Next you remove the handle, turn it up-side-down and slide the pineapple off...and you are done! Fresh, cut pineapple in probably about 1 minute! Unbelievable! I just ordered my Mother one, as she was over when I tried it and she couldn't believe it either, and said she wanted one too. So if you like pineapple, and want it fresh and cheaper than canned, you NEED to order this...I highly recommend (in case you were in doubt after my review...LOL)

I was amazed at how easy this item is to use!! After I ordered it, I thought that I may regret the order because it would be too hard for me to turn. Then it came and I followed the directions by cutting off the top and the bottom. Then carefully made sure the center tube is lined up to progress down the core. If you don't get the alignment correct, you will end up with little pieces of core with your slices (my husband has used the slicer and was too lazy to go find his glasses....so he ended up with a little core in the slices). After you get the core lined up with the center tube, start turning the very comfortable handle. It is like cutting into softened butter -- or smoother. POOF!! You now have a handy treat that will keep your sweet tooth at bay. If you cut off the bottom, place the pineapple in a soup bowl so that the juice will not leak everywhere. I bought another one for my sister. She loves hers, too.

WORTH IT! Talk about making it easier to carve a pineapple! I got one of these, along with a pineapple, for our yearly $10 gift exchange, and the person who ended up with it told me how fantastic it was. So I ended up buying one for myself and gave another as a gift. It IS great. You'll have the pineapple all sliced out in beautiful rings in less than a minute flat. Just be sure to slow down once it starts getting tough to turn so you don't end up going all the way through the bottom of the pineapple. You want the core to stay adhered to the pineapple, not have it end up in the shaft of the corer. If you eat pineapple even just once a year - you need to own this.

Wow. Love this kitchen gadget. I was able to core a pineapple in a few minutes!!...maybe 2mins, tops! After I corded the pineapple, I sliced the hollowed out shell vertically to open it up and was able to cut a little more of the pineapple from the sides out, but not much, so there is little waste. Not only was the pineapple a breeze to cut, but it was super sweet, so it was a win win!!! I will be buying pineapples on sale, slicing them up and freezing for smoothies for sure bc I do miss some of my fresh fruit in the winter. I highly recommend this and love that the top handle pops off so you can pull the cored pineapple upwards to remove. It was a simple turn of the wrist and I couldn't imagine ever cutting a pineapple with a knife again. Jumped on here to buy another one of these as a gift!! !!

I have one and just bought my second one for my mother. My mom has some issues with strength and steadiness in her hands due to a car accident where she was T-boned at 80 mph and in a coma for several months. Although she is about 85% recovered she struggles and get frustrated when she can't do simple tasks or makes a mess doing so. This pineapple cutter, as strange as it sounds, has brought her so much joy! It is so easy to use, she doesn't have to worry about a knife slipping and cutting herself, all the juice stays in the bottom of the pineapple, and the easy release buttons on the handle make it easy for her to get the pineapple off and clean the device. So far it's been fresh pineapple for breakfast, pineapple upside cake, pineapple with pork chops, and pineapple chicken. I'm not mad though.

This thing is amazing. I saw it on an article about "Kitchen Gadgets That Should Cost Way More Than $10 (But Don’t)", and was thinking well it's cheap so if it doesn't work it wouldn't be a huge loss. But it works great! I certainly prefer buying whole pineapples for a couple bucks (or even less on sale) vs a much marked up few dollars for the pre-cut stuff. However it used to take me 20mins to go through the whole process of cutting off all the inedible bits, even after watching multiple youtube videos on what was the "best" way. I can now be completely done with the process in less than 2 minutes. Cut off the top, drill, and extract. That's it! I'm more than happy to sacrifice just a bit of usable fruit in trade for a 10x time savings!

Was going to rate it 4 stars, but the price of the unit got the 5th star. If it were more expensive, it would be 4. When it first arrived, I thought, what a piece of crap, compared to the other name brand unit I already own. Felt a bit cheap and not well finished. But I was proven wrong. It does work well. Actually cuts better and cleaner than a much more expensive one I own! downsides, but at the price point, they are not deal breakers. * no ratchet on handle, you need to turn as far as you go, release and grab again, repeat til you get to the bottom. * no scale on the unit to indicate how deep you are in the fruit * sharp parts of the tool (well too sharp for its task). Poorly finished. Upsides: * Does the job. * Thinner metal than more expensive de-corers, which means it cuts the fruit with less effort I would buy again. Pleasantly surprised. Judge slowly when you get it... Be careful with it as well, don't cut yourself on the thin metal

I planted my first pineapple plant 30 years ago and always plant the harvested top. I now get around 20 pineapples a year and they sometimes ripen one after the other. It used to take me about 30 minutes to cut, prepare and clean up and it was a mess! I bought another pineapple cutter about 5 years ago and took it back to the store and did not think I would ever try another one. Well, I'm getting older and try to simplify tasks using my arthritic hands. I decided to research cutters again and picked this one. I cut my 3rd pineapple yesterday and had everything cleaned up and put away in about 15 minutes! I set the pineapple in a bowl to catch the juice if I cut through the bottom of the pineapple. (which I did) It is very easy to pull the meat of the pineapple out of the skin, remove the handle to slide the fruit off and if you cut through the bottom like I did, the core just pushes right out! A little soap and water and the cutter is ready for the next one! If you want to share beautiful spiral cut pineapple ( I used to have holes where I cut out the eyes) that is easy to prepare, order one of these today!

I love this gadget. It cores and slices beautifully and easily and makes it very simple to prepare pineapple; all I need to do is cut down the "stack" after this cores and slices it, for smaller pieces. It also saves money every time I use it, so it won't take long to pay for itself. Pineapples are priced by the item, while cored and sliced pineapple is by the pound. So I can buy a large pineapple, let it ripen, and get a lot more pineapple for a much lower price. Yes, it's messy, and I have to scrape the insides of the pineapple after I've cored and sliced it with this tool if I want ALL the "meat," but it doesn't take long and it's well worth it. I can choose a nice pineapple and let it ripen, and I haven't gotten a bad one yet, where when I buy one already cored and sliced, it's a gamble whether it's ripe or tasty. It's also easy to clean, as the handle pops off and I can push out the core, if necessary, when I've cut through the bottom of the fruit, then I just rinse it well and pull out the few fibers that tend to stick at the beginning of the slicing spiral. I'm glad I finally bought one of these.
