Perfect Size For Me
This sewing machine is absolutely perfect for me! I'm not any kind of professional seamstress nor do I claim to be, so this sewing machine has everything I need. The thing I love so much about it is the fact that I'm able to take it with me everywhere. I can take it over to my sister's house if her and I are working on something together just as easily as I can take it from room to room in my own house. It's got every sewing option that I would need without being really confusing and hard to load it with thread. I really can't say enough good things about it, but the hardest part of owning it so far has been in the ordering process and trying to decide which one of the great happy and bright colors to go with. Eventually I decided on the yellow and purple and I haven't gotten sick of it yet, but I knew that wasn't going to be the problem. The fact that I even had color options was better than any of the other machines out there, and the price was just an added bonus.

Very nice little sewing machine
I bought this for my little granddaughters to teach them to sew. I think this is a perfect little machine, the girls will love it. The stitch is very good. I tried the longest and the shortest stitch and had no problems. The bobbin is easy to wind and put in ,it has a backstitch and it works well. The only problem I had was threading the needle there is no light but I have old eyes and old hands. They provided a needle threader so it really wasn't that bad and the girls will be able to do it easily. I wanted a little machine with a back stitch and this fit the bill, a nice machine at the right price.

Great machine for kids
My 8-year-old niece loved this machine. Itās so easy to use, she sewed a pillow during her first sewing session. The finger guard on the feed dog is great and made her less fearful about getting a needle in her finger. The slower speed also helped her to pace herself. After a couple of practice tries, she was able to load a bobbin and thread the machine just by following the arrows clearly imprinted on the body of the machine. Sheās been sewing up a storm.

Adorable first sewing machine - not a toy.
Purchased the Janome\New Home Portable Sewing Machine for a five year old who has been wanting a sewing machine for over a year and a half. This is an electric powered mechanical sewing machine that is simple to thread, with an on\off one speed foot pedal, ten stitches, half sized machine, lightweight at five pounds and fairly quite. Comes with three bobbins, and two needles which are standard Janome clear plastic bobbins, and uses ONLY size #14 (90) needles. Within ten minutes or so the child was able to wind the bobbin thread, insert the bobbin, follow the thread path and start sewing - much to their amazement and total confidence. The only adult assistance needed was with threading the needle eye and bringing up the bobbin thread. The combination presser foot plastic finger guard, is a great safety feature but does take a bit more effort to thread the needle and catch the bobbin thread loop as it blocks access somewhat. This child had never sewn on a machine before, although over the last few months, we have had many talks about safety, discussed parts of my sewing machine, watched online videos, and read books about machine sewing.

Legit
I'm not like... a seamster or anything... but this little guy can sew. I got tired of my relatives buying me oversized clothing and never wearing it, so for the price of 2 shirts I bought this and learned how to hem, essentially giving me about 10 more usable shirts. I broke the sewing needle trying to sew a pair of jeans... but I think that was my fault more than the machines. I replaced the needle with another one from amazon for about 50 cents (from 10 pack in case it happens again) and it's working just fine again. I think as I get better, this speed is going to slow me down a little, but since I only do some hemming every now and then, it is perfect for my needs and a fraction of the cost of a real sewing machine. For the new sewers out there: read the directions. These are not as simple as one would expect and the instructions help you get it setup in a way that functions they way it is supposed to. Overall a great product.

Awesome compact sewing machine!
I got this sewing machine for little projects. One I've been making is making bandanas for my dog. I've been making them until now with the singer hand quick sew and it has gotten frustrating using that thing. It did the job but the end result was a little messy. So I decided to get this Janome one. First of all I love the color! It's my favorite :) And I realize this product is probably marketed towards kids it makes a great sewing machine for beginners like myself (I'm 25). I don't have a ton of room in my apartment for a full size machine but comcidsring I'll mostly be making bandanas for my dog it's plenty for what I need it for. I like also that it's uncomplicated. The instructions were pretty clear and the things on the machine are simplistic. I included a picture of my first official sewing project. The stitches were nice and tight. Not perfectly straight but that's my fault since I'm still learning, but it's hardly noticeable. Still it's way better than the singer quick sew. Defiantly way more of a secure stitch too. I won't need to worry about it falling apart as my dog wears it during trips to the park. I am really pleased with my new machine! Now one thing I kept doing while I was learning to sew was that I kept forgetting to let the presser foot down after I had aligned the needle where I wanted it. After a few stitches the machine would jam and would cause a huge mess of string on the underside of my project. Needless to say I was very frustrated but took a deep breath and troubleshooter then face palmed when I realized it was my error not the machine. I saw a pic and a few reviews from people stating this problem and wanted to hopefully inform people about this issue. It's totally easy to do and since there's no failsafe in the machine to stop it it will just sew along like nothing's wrong until it's a huge mess. Anyways lesson learned. I'm excited to make more projects! Maybe even make some for my family and friends :)

Great little sewing machine
Got this sewing machine for my 8 year old daughter to replace an old real singer with hand crank she had since two for the convenience of little maintenance and this time she can do on her own. Love this little machine! It might not be strong like old ones but love the ease of use for her, she doesnāt need help on anything! Sheās already made a dress for her doll and finishing now a pillow! I sew and I love the fact she now seats in my sewing room with her projects while I do mine. I canāt really say much about durability because sheās only had it for 3 days, Iām hoping it lasts at least a few years until she can Transition to a bigger one.

Had ours for 5 years now
I have recommended this machine to several friends. My daughter has had it for almost 5 years now and it is still doing just fine. It is easy to set up and light enough for a kid to pick up. There is one speed for the peddle, so the child wont have to worry about having the speed go out of control. I am not saying it is the best machine for sewing, but it sure has been great for learning and little project for the kids. It isn't crazy tough, so it can't sew though really thick fabric, it just doesn't have that torque power behind it, but also that is what keeps little fingers safe. It has sewn everything my child has needed, but if we are sewing a couple layers with thick elastic the machine might seem slow at first and then its fine. Again, not an adult serious machine, but this is a real sewing machine that is great for learners. I wouldn't sew my clothes on it, but we my daughter has sown plenty of Halloween costumes, doll outfits, skirts, and more with it.

At that time she loved the sewing basket more then the machine
This was sewing machine was purchased for my granddaughters 5th birthday. She has been asking for a sewing machine since she was 3 years old. Having many years of experience sewing, I really felt that she needed to wait until she was 8 years old so that she did not get frustrated and end up hating sewing. I purchased a toy sewing machine for her but thankfully I tried it out myself and realized if she was given the toy machine, she would end up hating sewing. So I continued to do more research, and more research, and ended up buying this machine. It greatly concerned me that it was electric and had a foot pedal. I was mainly worried about her little fingers and that needle. Well... she opened the package on her birthday and was not impressed. It was not the toy sewing machine that she wanted. Along with the sewing machine, I put together a sewing basket with several child friendly sewing notions. At that time she loved the sewing basket more then the machine. Inside the basket was the set of rules that came with the machine. Basically the rules were that the machine had to be used under adult supervision. The first sewing lesson got her hooked. She turned to me and said "Actually Grandma, this is really fun!" So.... the sewing lessons continue and they go for 30 - 45 minutes at a time. She is so proud of the little things she has sewn. This machine is really great. Great price, great looking, easy to use, and it sews great. Had a little trouble in the beginning figuring out the tension to make the stitches look decent. But once we got that figured out, it makes a really nice stitch. I love the stitching foot design. It is designed to keep those little fingers safe. If I had to come up with a "con" it would be that the machine is on the loud side and the little drawer on the front is a bit hard to open for even an adult. But those things are minor. I would definitely buy this machine again!
