Excellent Grabber
I was very pleased with this product.I am in a wheelchair, and I have tried many different reachers. Some are good at picking up small items, some larger items. My biggest problem is dropping my iphone. I have never found a grabber that would pick it up. Usually it falls back to the floor, or I have to try to flip it up so I can grab it. This grabber has a very strong grip. I can pick up the iphone with no problems whatsoever, from flat on the floor. It picks up items as small as bobbie pins. I have also picked up 3 bottles left together in the rings from a six pack. I can hold at least that much weight. I can pick up my pill box easily. It is a nice length, although I would not mind having a slightly longer one in addition tho this one. The handle is easy to use with my fairly weak hands. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a little help reaching.

Better Than Others I've Had
This particular grabber is a very high quality product in my opinion. I have owned a few with varying results. One was really cheap and that was a total get what you pay for scenario. The other one I own is a mid-range price and it works just fine. This item was even better than my usual one though. The reach is longer, the grasp is stronger, and it was able to hold on to smaller objects better. I was really happy because I was keeping my previous grabber downstairs and this one upstairs in my bedroom where I was recovering from surgery. It got me through the first month or so, which was the most tedious and definitely the time where there was to be no bending, twisting or lifting. So this was kind of a lifesaver. Unfortunately, one of the rubber grippers broke off at that point. I didn't realize you could purchase them separately or I would have ordered a replacement by now. I have been doing without for about 6 weeks unnecessarily!! So I will now try to find a compatible suction cup replacement and I will be back in business with this very helpful item!! 2/13/16 Update: I just went ahead and ordered a whole new grabber because I couldn't find the old one. Got it today and am so happy to have one back in the bedroom again! I've already used it several times. Honestly, it really saves the back not having to stretch so much! I love this thing!

Best thing ever!
UPDATE: This thing saved my husband and I. How you ask? We had a bark scorpion come into our home. We used this claw to pick up items to see if he was on them. After destroying our home we find him. My husband was able to use the claw with the suction cups to pick up that scorpion and get him out!!!! This thing keeps paying for itself! I haven't even owned this for a week! With that being said it's the best thing ever. I just had a hysterectomy and am unable to do a ton of things. I originally got this for myself as a half joke/half serious. I now realize how valuable it's been to me. The suction cup things are wonderful bc it gives you the ability to pick up difficult things like charging cords. I can't speak highly enough about this! It grabs and does all sorts of things from soda cans, cords, turning off light switches, picking up dropped phones, etc.

Very helpful if you can't bend over
I just had a medical procedure and am not allowed to bend my back (among other things) for several weeks. I have cats. Cats who like to scatter toys so much it looks like toddlers live here. In addition, you don't realize just how much bending-to-grab you do until you're told you can't. Picking up things, reaching for stuff, pulling up covers, reaching over for something, pulling down a nightgown when lying down, putting on loose socks, getting things off the lower fridge shelves - all of these are verboten. This grabber works better than the type that just has the plastic "robot hand" on the end. Because of the curved metal "springs" it grips objects tighter, and thus can pick up heavier things. I haven't noticed the suction cups actually suctioning to anything, but they do give a bit of traction so the thing you grabbed doesn't slide back to the floor. When I ordered it, I had no idea I'd use it this much.

Great for light use! But this one is NOT for heavy items!
First off you need to decide what you need one for. Picking up trash, limbs and debris outside? Then don’t buy this get a heavy duty one that costs $40 to $50. I am old and have a bad back so I use mine to pick up clothes, dog toys and dog food, and especially the left over pieces of sharp milk bones that hurt like hell to step on in the house. I also pick up threads and stuff I don’t want to get into the vacuum cleaner. This $14 one is not made for heavy lifting, or for putting glassware or heavy plates in the cabinet. You will need to spend at least $30 or more for one for that. This one is for light objects, no more than a pound and if you don’t try and lift heavy stuff it works great and lasts forever. I have been through a dozen of these over the years. I prefer the suction cups to the rubber coated finger kind. Pick stuff up much better. But for certain thing might be better, like getting a glass from an overhead cabinet. I have a heavy duty one from Lowes for picking up stuff outside, trash that anuses like to throw from their cars into my yard, and the cigarette butts my mail lady thtows by my mailbox EVERY day and pi cones and sticks ect. I bought this lightweight one 8 months ago for use in the house. The only issue I have had so far is one of the nuts that holds the suction cups came off and got lost. I emailed the company and they were ready and willing to send me a replacement one if I wanted. But I told them all I needed was a new suction cup nut so they sent me a new pair of suction cups and nuts so now I have extra if another falls off. These are good grabbers. If you are like me and read the negative feedbacks first to hear the truth, not all the fake five star ones at the top, then pay no attention to all the people griping and crying because they didn’t know the differences between them and just bought the cheapest, or bought one for light use when the needed a heavy duty one. Not the grabbers fault you cheaped out and didn’t buy what you needed. For picking up shoes, socks, underwear, light clothing, dog toys, spilled dog food and partially eaten treats, and small trash you don’t want to go up the vacuum then this is the one you need. Lastly, never buy the folding ones. It’s just another place to be a weak spot and to break too soon. Need one for a specific task, ask me in the comments to my review and I will be glad to share my experience with you. I do not represent any company or seller and my opinions are all my own, from my own experiences using different types of these grabbers. Michael

A grabber with surprising dexterity in its rubber cups
As I joined the joint-replacement club with millions of other Americans, I was advised to have grabbers ready on every level of our little tri-level home so I wound up with three different styles and brands. I have a heavy-duty grabber that's got magnetic tips and that's fine for heavier lifting. I also have a light-weight one in our bedroom that's good for picking up things like clothing on the floor. But I had to add my review to this particular product because of the great dexterity that's possible with these rubber "cups" and this aluminum construction overall. This has become, far and away, my "go to" grabber. I can spot a tiny speck on the carpet, let's say a fallen crumb of pretzel, and can deftly get it with these tips and deposit that in a waste basket. In fact, my wife kids me that I may be on the verge of dropping very tiny bits of junk just to see if I can grab it with this device. I have to say: It's that flexible, in my experience. As odd as it sounds, I enjoy using this grabber. Perhaps this review sounds strange. Grabbers are associated with our declining physical abilities, so they're a bit of a somber subject, perhaps. But the folks who designed this particular device really hit on a great design—very sturdy, light-weight aluminum tubing coupled with very flexible rubber cups at the end. Not all grabbers are made alike! You may actually find yourself enjoying this one!

Can’t go wrong with the VIVE!
I received my grabber well packaged and within 2 days. I have purchased 3 different styles of grabbers over the years. The first was the gopher II but my husband also wanted one so I thought I would see if a different model would be even better. The second model I purchased has plastic pinchers(no suction cups) and is our least favorite for our purpose. Next I bought the VIVE based on the good reviews. We use our grabbers strictly outdoors. We live in a heavily wooded area and are picking up small sticks, black walnuts, buckeyes and cottonwood debris. We walk around with the grabber in one hand and a 5 gallon bucket in the other. The 32 inch length is ideal for our method of pickup. Both the gopher II and VIVE are suction cup grabbers and our 2 favorites However there are sutle differences between them. 1. The VIVE is slightly heavier and feels like it may last longer without being difficult to use. The suction cups with screws definitely feel more substantial. 2. The grabbing action in the VIVE definitely requires more effort. I do not find it tiring though (56 year old female), but for those with arthritis or the elderly it may become more of an issue with heavy use. 3. The gopher II can be folded in half for easy storage but we have never folded it because they just hang on out garage wall. The VIVE does not fold. No big deal, probably just easier to ship. 4. The gopher II has a locking mechanism and the VIVE does not. We have never used the lock but it might come in handy for someone if changing a light bulb. Again no big deal for us. 5. The VIVE costs a little more. I usually grab the gopher II if I am going to be picking up a lot of stuff just because it has the easiest trigger mechanism. My husband usually grabs the VIVE because he like the firmer trigger. Both are great and highly recommend. I now enjoy picking up sticks and those dirty black walnuts!

Picks up heavy items!
We've had many of these over the years, but I don't think we've ever had one that had suction cups. I was trying to avoid getting the same kind that broke too easily last time, so I gave these a try (it had good reviews...). My husband is disabled and can't look down or bend to pick things up, so he uses it more than I would. He loves it because he's been able to pick up all of the dog toys and shoes laying around with ease. He's certainly impressed. I'm homebound in a leg cast and can't really bend to pick up anything either right now, so I got the 2-pack so I'd have my own. I love it as well since this can pick up clothes off the floor and also help me assist in cleaning things up to feel like I'm being useful. Plus, they're longer than some we've had. I haven't tried to pick up thin things like pieces of paper, but I mostly just need it to pick up larger and heavier items anyways. It works perfectly for that. I'm hoping these hold up for a while.

Love it, love it, love it.
I'm a few days post op from knee replacement and occasionally need to reach something beyond my reach. I bought two reachers, a longer one with a wider mouth and a squeeze control parallel to the shaft and this one with a right angle squeeze. I used the Vive Suction Cup Reacher Grabber to catch a fairly thin wire that provides power to my cooling pack. After the catch, hanging on to the wire until I could grab it was easy. This morning my walker was in the way of my sweet old dog and I used the Vive reacher to manipulate the rather uncooperative walker into a more out of the way place. So light work, heavier work--no problem. The only thing I don't know is if it will hold up over time, so if ceases to work properly, I'll update this review. BTW, I like the other one too, just don't know if I'll love it yet. BTW 2, my knee is doing great.
