Great on and off safety feature
Very happy with this tea pot. One of the BIG features is an on and off tab that cannot be accidently activated. Unlike most teapots where the on off tab pushes down for on this pushes up. That means when you set something down next to the teapot it will not be unknowingly activated thus melting or burning whatever is next to it. Holds ample amount and the space saving vertical size is also a plus. We have been very happy with this and would buy it again.

A Better Kettle Than the Earlier Version
By far better than their earlier version of this product. The old model had only one gauge located behind the handle. You couldn't see it very well. This new model has two gauges on the sides, making it easy to see. The top on the newer model also opens more fully, making it easier to fill. It's faster than putting a tea kettle on the stove and the automatic shut-off feature is effective and makes for a safer way to heat up water for your coffee in the morning.

Exactly what I was looking for!
I have a friend who doesn't have a coffee pot. I can't imagine that, myself. However, she has an electric kettle and keeps an assortment of teas, hot chocolate mixes, and instant coffee available for her guests. There are many times that I want tea or coffee and don't have the need to make a full pot, so a kettle is a nice way to allow me to do that. Sure, I can heat water in the microwave, but that can be tedious, especially if you are making more than one cup. Yes, I'll admit it. I had kettle envy. So, I decided to start looking for a kettle of my own. I had a couple of requirements: I did not want a plastic kettle, it needed to have automatic shutoff, and it needed to heat water quickly. I came across this little guy and it fit the bill perfectly. All of my appliances are stainless or black, so this kettle looks nice on my counter, and is available to heat up water at any time. I have teenagers, so they are always using boiling water for soups and noodles and whatever else, and this works very well for that. I use it for tea, instant coffee, and to make coffee in my french press. It is so convenient! The water heats up so quickly, even faster than I expected. It doesn't make noise when the water is ready, but you can hear the water boiling, and you can hear the kettle making a click sound when the water is heated. I have owned several products from Hamilton Beach, and have always been pleased with them. I associate Hamilton Beach with quality, and this kettle does not disappoint. It feels very sturdy. Filled with water, it can have some weight to it, but it isn't too bad. It is about the same weight as a full pot of coffee. The outside of the kettle can get very hot, but the handle stays cool, which I like. I was pleasantly surprised at how long the water stayed warm afterward. My friend saw this on my counter and could not believe that I paid about the same amount for my kettle as she did for her plastic one. I guess now she has kettle envy! I imagine she will be purchasing this model very soon.

Writing this review after having it for a year. ...
Writing this review after having it for a year. It still works as well a year later as on day 1. Make sure to read the instructions since there is a minimal-fill level to reach so you don't fry the machine. Never have had weird-tasting tea or water, just really quick results! Would buy it again, but it seems so well build I might not need to!

Hamilton Beach Electric Kettle
I have given up on buying various brands of coffee grounds to perk my own. I have found a brand of instant that suits me perfectly and this kettle is very quick in heating the water up to a boiling point w/out having to use the microwave to achieve the same function. Being stainless steel, it also will not hold any contaminants from the water itself, easy to clean and wonderful in that I can make another cup or two of coffee/tea/whatever within a 30 minute time frame and not have to reheat the water to do so. It stays at a good hot temp for that long. Energy saving! I was exposed to this type of kettle recently when I was overseas and immediately ditched my old coffee maker for this. I would buy again or give as a gift.

Excellent Kettle
I have had one of these for a few years (silver). I took that one to work and use it there and bought another (red) for home. This is a simple kettle in that you add water to a level not to exceed the max line, close the lid and flick up on the toggle switch under the handle. A light on the side will indicate that it is heating. When the water comes to a boil it automatically shuts off. You can stop it early by merely toggling the switch down at any time or just lifting the kettle off the base (this not only disengages the current, but also deactivated the toggle switch, so if you place it back on the base it will not continue to boil until you turn it on again. I haven't timed it, but a full kettle will come to a boil in less than about 5 minutes. Simple and useful. Hot chocolate, tea, instant coffee, French press coffee, or whatever you want hot water for.

Heats up quick, designed well, & can make tea anywhere!
This thing is so glorious! I don't have to schlep to the kitchen anymore for tea- I make it right in my room. I barely have to get out of bed, which is enough to sell me on it anyway, but this electric kettle is just perfect. It's a great size and the design is perfect. the lid pops open with the push of a button, and has a wide enough opening that there's no way to mess it up [this also beats my old regular kettle, ice I don't have to hold it at an angle to get around the handle]. The switch to turn it on is smart, too, cus you have to press it up, so I don't have to worry about a nosy cat stepping on it or something falling against it and turning it on accidentally. It heats up quickly, and the handle is well designed so pouring it is easy and keeps your hand well away from any hot surface. I love that it doesn't take up much space, and it works fast.

Heats water quickly...
A bit on the loud side when heating the water but this is most likely due to the carafe not being insulated. Heats water quickly; light goes out to let you know when water heats to a full boil or will turn off when you lift the carafe off the electric base. The handle is thick and comfortable in the hand making a full carafe balanced and easy to lift and pour. I like the viewing window on both sides of the carafe; makes it easy to know how much water is available. Cord is supposed to be able to hide away by winding it in a circular pattern under the electric base; however, its tricky getting it to lay flat enough to sit flat. The lip/rim around the base should have been a little taller which would have helped. But the concept of hiding the cord is a good one for keeping counters from looking messy with cords laying about. All in all, Its a good kettle for the price and I'd buy it again.

Itworks fine. I like the light indicator
I received my kettle today. Tested for boiling water. It works fine.I like the light indicator, the top button for opening the kettle to fill water and the fact that it turns itself off when the water has boiled.I only wish it could keep the water warm for a longer period. And I thought it took long to boil.It takes about 5 minutes to bring to a rolling boil. I will be updating after using it for some time

Boils Water Fast
I bought this to boil water to make coffee in my French Press. I didn't know I would use it for so much more. It's pretty simple to use: fill the amount of water you need, flip the switch and wait a few minutes for the water to boil. I find 1 Liter of room-temp water takes about 3 minutes to boil in this kettle. (For comparison, when I heated the same amount on the stovetop, it took 6-8 minutes.) Because it's so fast, we use it any other time we need boiling water--tea, ramen noodles, hard-boiled eggs, oatmeal, etc. We probably use this kettle a half-dozen times a day. We have hard water, so once a month I pour in a cup of white vinegar to dissolve the white scale. Just pour the vinegar in at night, pour it out in the morning, boil a half-pot of water to rinse the vinegar out and you're good to go!
