Safe protective packaging, easy to understand product info, perfect fit and finish for an iPad Mini 2 Retina. Will not fit Mini 4. This has the largest format keyboard of any other product, so far as I know. Makes for easy typing and function access. Single color backlit keys, nice pressure response. Makes my Mini a true laptop now or I can flip it on the hinge and have a tablet. Don't need/want the keyboard, but want your Mini facing you, but not flat down? Place it in tablet position and flip the screen open and you can view the screen with the keyboard behind the Mini, pretty cool! I ordered the white simply because I wasn't going to spend more for black, but no real issue. Most reviews are positive, regarding ease of use and product quality. I agree! A few reviewers stated some quality issues. Hinge failure, keyboard issues or breakage of the iPad case itself. I shall see what comes. If drop my iPad, I would rather the case breaks, than my iPad. I could buy a heavier duty case, but then I've got a larger heavier case. It's a trade off, but I'd rather buy another case, if I have to. Zagg is a well developed/designed product. Purpose built for the iPad Mini. Sweet! Just one point worth noting and I'm not sure if Zagg has a glass screen sized to work with their own case products, but the glass screen I purchased got a small chip at each end of the hinge, bummer. If this one cracks more, I may use a film screen protector instead of glass. We shall see. Hope this helps in some decision making. Follow up to initial purchase!!!!! Still like this!! Auto correct works properly! Only one color of lights for the keyboard, works for me. It is not heavy, although it adds a little weight, no complaints, is what it is. I have dropped it once, woohoo, nothing broke! The glass screen protector I bought cracked, bummer. Two small molded grip points on the hinged slot don't allow for the thickness of the glass protector. It was inexpensive, oh well.

I was finally able to save enough to purchase our iPad mini 3s. We've had the covers w keyboard forever. We've saved using them obviously due to needing to get the tablets. Well for the past few weeks we've been using nothing but the tablets with the zagg covers. My itty bitty who's an artist of some serious skill....nope not my opinion...related comments from friends and their peers in the artist community.... has been so stuck on using it she gets pissed when I won't let her take it to bed with her to create more artistic endeavors. Gotta say im really happy with them. Im 100% disabled and I constantly drop anything I hold on to. My disabilities are all spine related. I have tremors and spasms almost all day long. Im partially paralized on my right. This is why we bought the covers first so long before the tablets. I wanted to know for a fact I was taking all precaution. I've dropped my tablet a few times and there's no issue. The cover has withstood everything that's happened to it.

Wow this is 100x’s better then I thought. Almost canceled the order to order a higher price one. Then I didn’t, then I thought well I will just return it when I get it and order a higher price one. I am so glad I didn’t. The key board is metal, sturdy and beautiful and the cover is plastic which I does exactly what it’s meant to do, hold the iPad. If you drop it, it may break the top but I can say the iPad will be just fine which is all we care about. Wasn’t sure about the white in white but it’s beautiful. I can’t say enough about it. I was looking specifically for a Zagg which the brand I know is reputable. You wouldn’t be disappointed. Love it

EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS! As soon as I saw the packaging, I knew it was top-notch. I spent way too long researching keyboards. This one is the ONLY one that duplicates a computer keyboard. In my research, I literally counted the rows of ALL THE OTHER BRANDS and this ZAGG brand has the same 6 rows as a normal computer keyboard. This might not seem significant, but IT IS! With other keyboards, you have to relearn many of the keys due to the new placement. I own a macbook pro, and the Zagg Keyboard is the same material, tone, and quality as a Macbook keyboard. I've seen and tried several other brands and believe me, they seem cheap. But as soon as I saw the box, and opened it up, it was clear that this was in a different league. I love everything about it and have NO complaints. The flexibility of this keyboard case is amazing as well. You can reverse the iPad and use it as a normal iPad. The case and hinge system is extremely nice and well made. I honestly have no idea re some of the bad reviews. I am thinking that Zagg may have improved the workmanship of this. One more plus - is the shortcuts on the keyboard. There is a home button, a search shortcut, Volume buttons, play / pause buttons, blue tooth button, siri button, etc. This is unlike any other keyboard!!!

I am writing this review using my iPad and Zagg Slim Book. I bought this to use with my iPad in paramedic school. I can't imagine NOT having this product. I have been using this product since the end of April and the keyboard is still holding it's original charge. The battery lasts forever. This products durability has been put to the test in the back of my ambulance, in my fly car, and in my jump bag. It has survived getting tossed around the back of an ambulance going lights and sirens, oxygen tanks, simulation lab, my tactical pants thigh pocket, and beyond. I am very impressed with the durability of the entire product, as well as the hinge. The magnetic detachment aspect is phenomenal. I get a lot of compliments on it. Most people think it's a mini-laptop and when I show them the keyboard is Bluetooth and detachable, they are impressed. I read in the reviews about the keyboard not being heavy enough to balance the iPad being tilted back to the hinges max and I've had no trouble as long as its a flat surface. The compact and durable nature of this product make it an A+ purchase and I would absolutely purchase this product again. I also purchased Zagg's tempered glass screen protector and it, too, has withstood quite a beating with absolutely no issues. I highly recommend this product.

I don’t typically write reviews, but for this case I figured I would share my thoughts. The ZAGG Slim Book for iPad Mini retails at $119.99, but I had purchased it on here for an amazing price of $29.99. That’s roughly 75% off the retail price! That being said I’m already satisfied how much I paid for this product. Just for reference, I own a 13” MacBook Pro from 2011 that I still use for data storage, average computing and music listening. Within time lugging it around has become more of a hassle due to the weight of the computer, so I usually carry around my iPad Mini instead. I’ve been typing on an iPad for years now, and I’ve never had an issue with it. However adding a physical keyboard does make typing that much faster. For a smaller keyboard typing will take some time to adjust to, but it only took me a few minutes to adapt. Key presses are responsive and bounce back nicely, not to mention the backlit function is a quality touch (still not sure if this version can toggle keyboard colors as the manual hadn’t specified). The iPad case itself seems durable and has some sort of magnetic feature that attaches to the hinge. A nice feature would’ve been to disable the keyboard automatically when you detach the iPad, but powering down the keyboard/turning off Bluetooth/disconnecting the keyboard in settings are just as fine alternatives when you just want to use the iPad itself. As for the battery life, the box boasts a charge up to 2 years in which that’s a pretty solid guarantee. I’m happy if I even have to charge a keyboard every 6 months, let alone 2 years? I’ll be sure to update this review in case the battery life says otherwise. The hinge itself is of a good build, and can maintain optimal viewing angles for long periods of time. I haven’t had an issue with it yet, but again if anything does happen I’ll be sure to contact ZAGG. Overall I am a little confused as to why the price cut was so steep, although I suppose a newer model is coming out? Regardless I’m very satisfied with this case. I’ve been using those Apple Magnetic Covers since I bought my iPad and ever since I purchased the ZAGG Slim Book, I just feel like I own a new laptop. This is a great addition to your tablet if you are one who takes down a lot of notes, or would just prefer a physical keyboard in general while web browsing. In fact I’m using the keyboard as I write this review, and I must say it does not disappoint! There are plenty of other things that I had probably missed in writing this review, but you are paying for a quality product. A++

I read nearly all the reviews and continued shopping due to quite a few bad reviews but I kept coming back to this one due to the thin design and my own experience with ZAGG products. I ordered it and installed it on one of our iPad mini's. After using it for a couple weeks I promptly ordered another one. I have another brand / style of cover / keyboard on a different iPad mini that I thought was a good product... and is highly rated on Amazon... rated higher than this ZAGG... but having used both, this ZAGG is better by a mile....It never loses it's bluetooth connection. It turns my iPad mini into a mini laptop. The sleep / wake function works every time unlike the other keyboard / cover that works only sometimes. The keyboard layout is nearly perfect. The slim design doesn't add a lot of bulk to the iPad... which was one of my chief complaints about the other highly rated keyboard... however, the other keyboard does offer superior protection in my opinion. The ZAGG cover is a semi hard material where the other cover was more like an Otterbox with a softer inner shell that seems like it would have better protection from drops but adds a lot of bulk. For me.... the thin design, keyboard layout, and rock solid bluetooth makes this keyboard the winner !!! UPDATE 1.31.17 I ordered another ZAGG Slim Book Ultrathin for our other iPad Mini. I bought this one from the "other buying options - used" for much less than the listed price of new. It arrived on time, still in the OEM packaging, with the cable - unused, oem manual untouched. AWESOME deal! This item was classified as used but it was absolutely new. Same experience... works flawlessly. I cannot imagine how any of the other keyboards offered could be any better than this one. If you have an iPad mini - this is the keyboard to get.

I was wanting a slim keyboard to travel with my ipad mini. I receive so many compliments about this and many people ask "what is that". They are shocked when they find out it is an ipad mini with a keyboard case. The backlit keys make it nice for working at night. I was hesitant to get a keyboard because I didn't want another thing to charge. After reading reviews and asking questions, it appears that this will last for several months with regular use. The battery indicator will only change color once it is under 50%. I charged it as soon as it was delivered and have been using it for three weeks and it is still above 50%. The typing is a little cramped, so if you have large fingers, that may pose more of an issue to you. I would definitely recommend purchasing this product.

UPDATE. So, it’s almost four months later ...I still LOVE this keyboard/case. Really NICE! My compliments to the team who designed it. This Zagg brand keyboard is the fifth iPad keyboard I have owned...and is my favorite so far. First it is sturdy. I believe it is all plastic, but strong. Second, the keyboard itself has a nice touch just like it's larger brother on my desktop, and the key layout is same...some keyboards have bizarre key assignments...not this one...it's just like I am used to. Third, I really like the easy to detach case...I frequently need to use my iPad like a tablet, the detachable case makes this transition easy and the added protection of a protective case when not using the keyboard. Fourth, I love that the audio/video play, pause, fwrd, rev, mute & vol keys are dedicated and a single touch to activate...my previous keyboards sometimes required complex or multiple key strokes just to mute or pause the action. Fifth, the cutouts for the native iPad buttons, etc. are spacious. On other brands they were too restrictive...for example the ClamCase keyboard which was a nice keyboard had such restrictive access I could only use Apple brand wired headsets, they were the only ones that could fit. And it actually covered (and subsequently precluded the use) of the 'side switch' which I liked to use for locking rotation. Sixth, backlit keyboard...I love that! When using the iPad at night, in bed or on a plane...was very difficult to see the keys. This was particularly irksome with the aforementioned keyboards with bizarrely placed keys. Finally...battery life, if it is one hundredth of the advertised 2 years between charges...I will be more than satisfied. I've only had this keyboard for hours...but already I love it for years! I expect this to be my last iPad keyboard.

Love this case.....I was skeptical to purchase it because of the negative reviews but I'm so glad I did. A lot of reviews said that the hinge was cheap and made of plastic. Maybe they upgraded the hinge because the one I received is made is aluminum and very hard plastic. The Ipad is easy to put on and take off but still have the feeling of security due to the case being so well made. Another complaint was the bottom didn't have any feet and laid flat on the surface. In the pic you can clearly see the two feet on the bottom. Pairing is as easy as pressing one button on the keyboard and going to your bluetooth settings. The backlight is very pretty and useful. To turn it on all you do is press the fn button and the right arrow key. It has a picture of a light bulb on it. Typing is a smooth and tactile experience. The keyboard itself is the same as a standard size so you do not have to relearn a new one. A little getting used to on a smaller surface but that is to be expected. I was afraid the keyboard would be cheap to the feel and touch but it is not in any way at all. I would have expected to pay much more for this than the $29.oo dollars I paid. Yes I would highly recommend this to friends and family.
