Forgot I had them (3 of them) until I burnt a pizza the other day. It's not a bothersome unit that sounds everytime you break wind!!

No frills alarm

I learned some valuable lessons today. I was installing this alarm which is easy and no big deal. I appreciate on a deep level that it came in a plain box and not some clam shell packaging too. It comes with a battery. I hit the test button awfully close to my face because I didn't have good light where I was putting it in to read the directions on the test function. I thought I went deaf momentarily when it went off right next to my face/ear. Long story short the alarm is also very loud. Which is a good thing.

Simple, easy, quick to install - Perfect!

Quick and easy install. Battery came with it and has very accessible compartment door, unlike some detectors that have a hard to pull out door. This a simple alarm system that doesn't have to plug into anything. No more random alarms going off for no reason like my others. I esp like that it has a silence button if needed. I will probably buy a couple more to put around the house.

This product saved my life

Exactly 4 days after installing this product in my house I was woken up 5 AM to loud beeping. Initially as I laid in bed with my bedroom door closed I thought to myself this piece of crap I’m going to have to return it. When I got up at a bed and open my bedroom door I seen that my house was full of smoke. As a firefighter by trade I am very familiar with my fire extinguisher locations in my house, I went down the hall into my kitchen where I seen heavy fire extending from behind my kitchen cabinets. I quickly grabbed a nearby water can(2 1/2 gallon water fire extinguisher) And hit the fire from the base knocking it down completely and saving my families life. I want to say thank you to kidde for making a reliable product and saving my family and myself. ( I would like to add that I do not work for this company nor have I ever been contacted by this company in anyway shape or form and this is 110% real review)

Works great

I bought several of these to install in a new home and they work just as described. They are surprisingly sensitive, and are very easy to install.

Compact and Easy To Mount

Compact and easy to mount, I bought a couple of these to replace smoke detectors in my home that were more than ten years old, still worked, but would not have passed an upcoming municipal fire inspection because of their age. I like that these detectors include the required 9-volt battery. In accordance with recommendations from the National Fire Protection Association, we have smoke detectors in our basement and on each floor of our home, with two in the hallway outside our upstairs bedrooms. We also have separate CO detectors in our basement near our heating and hot water systems and in our upstairs hallway just outside our bedrooms. Smoke and CO detectors save lives and these are reasonably-priced UL listed life insurance.

Great Little Alarm!

I love this little smoke alarm. I am always very protective about having working smoke alarms in the house anyway, but recently we had a house fire very near to us. Our neighbor's hot water heater malfunctioned in the middle of the night. Her house caught fire, she didn't have a working smoke alarm, and she had three dogs. One of them didn't make it out. She was very fortunate to make it out for that matter. Our regular smoke alarms are too high for me to reach on a regular basis, but I wanted one to do regular fire drills (we did them when our kids were at home), but now we just have two dogs and I wanted them to be used to knowing what to do if the alarms sounded - how to get out and away from the house instead of hiding under a bed (our neighbor lady's dog hid under the bed during the fire). My husband mounted this alarm where I can reach it easily and I do drills a couple times a week. Now whenever the dogs hear it they run outside to the far gate (they know they will get a treat), but if there ever is a fire they will also run outside and not be burned up! This little alarm is loud and works well. One day when I was cooking in the kitchen and my pan got too hot before I had the next french toast to go in, the alarm went off before the others in the house (and my two dogs went running out to the far gate! - I had to turn off the stove and go get the treats, LOL!).

Good product

As a landlord, I need these in most rooms in my house. Very easy to mount. In my case, I fit them into the housing from an older model Kidde Smoke Alarm and was so pleased to see that the design had not changed so that I did not need to re-drill into the wall. Instructions are thorough. The light blinks every 60 seconds so you know they are "live". I feel secure with them all around.

Working Great!

So far so good. It was really easy to install (although the battery tried to trick us into believing there was something wrong with it). I bought two of these, traded out the battery in the second one, everything worked fine. Went to put the second smoke alarm up, just to test it I used the battery from the first one (just for the heck of it), dang thing worked! I've been testing them once a month without any issues.

Better IMHO then the 10-year units

After having issues with a pair of smoke alarms i had purchased from a big box store of the same brand with a "10 year sealed battery" (including going off in the middle of the night on multiple occasions for no reason- very unwelcome as I have experienced an actual fire so I take all alarms seriously) I replaced the units with these traditional replaceable battery alarms. These units have been flawless and restored my faith in the brand and in my security at home. Fantastic price and shipping from Amazon.
