Better than what I expected.
I recently bought a DSLR and I wanted to use it primarily for Videography. My decision was based on the fact that I had a small collection of dedicated prosumer camcorders and one of the things I have always sought is a eye viewer because when filming outdoors in bright sunlight, it become nearly impossible to see the video being recorded on a flip-out LCD. This dandy widget solves that problem. I bought a Canon 6D Mark II because I wanted a full frame sensor so that I could utilize my EF Mount Canon lenses. Many are 25 years old and I have a diverse range of fixed and zoom lenses. My last DSLR, I bought 14 years ago, it was the first generation full frame Canon 5D which only shoots stills. It was time for an upgrade! But What I didn't like about using a DSLR for videography was the fact that the mirror had to be locked up and that the LCD was the only way to frame the video. This gadget solves that issue and I was pleasantly surprise it was not that expensive, it is rigid and hold tight in place, pops out of the gorilla plate with a strong magnet if you want to remove it, which then allows full use of the LCD swing out... or the eye piece flips up out of the way if you need to access the touch screen, momentarily.

No viewfinder, no problem.
Even those with high end photo equipment would agree there is always a place for a good point and shoot 'pocket' camera. Especially now with all the features available the dollar value of these cameras is outstanding. But I guess with the advent of the lcd screen and telephoto capabilities, most of the makers decided to do away with the old optical viewfinders. Whatever brain-dead, pencil pushing, engineer-type, jackass was most responsible for this decision should have been severely beaten. Any viewfinder that could give even some approximation to aid in framing a photo was way better than the total wash-out of a postage stamp sized lcd screen! This product makes a good camera better and does it well. I believe it is cost effective and by solving the wash out problem gives more options to the consumer. It does take up a little more space but is not always needed. Great product.

Very nice quality and design.
Very good quality and excellent design. I have a Nikon D5500, and all of the buttons are accessible when this is installed. I have a Manfrotto 501 video tripod head which this fits nicely. I need the diopter adjustment on the Nikon viewfinder, so I was worried that not having one on this item would be a problem. But it isn't for me. I'm far sighted, so don't wear reading glasses. If you do, then not having diopter adjustment might be a problem for you. This is slightly smaller than the 3.2" display on the D5500, but I can still fully see all the information on the display. The optics are fine, with a little pincushion distortion, but that is not a problem. The magnetic catch for the flip up feature is nice and effective, as is the magnet which allows the Loupe to be completely removed while leaving the camera and plate mounted to the tripod head. The tripod head mounting plate is a very nice piece, equal in quality to any Manfrotto plate. And a Manfrotto plate like this would be almost half the price of this entire viewfinder loupe.

Great Value Viewfinder!
I absolutely love this thing. Just what I needed to help me focus outside (or inside even) with much better accuracy than just using the LCD screen. Out of the box you get: the viewfinder (packed in bubble wrap), the base-plate which fits larger fluid tripod heads and has fittings for standard tripods, a hex wrench, a laynard, and a cleaning cloth. No instructions needed for this device, simply attach the base plate to your camera (don't tighten fully so that you can adjust). The viewfinder snaps into place with a decently strong magnet and guide. The horizontal placement of the viewfinder is adjusted using the hex wrench and a small screw located at the base of the eyepiece. Vertical alignment is achieve with the thumbscrews located on either side of the eyepiece. I had it attached and in use in about 5 minutes out of the box. PROS: Magnification: 2.5 times is plenty and this item has great clarity and little distortion. Reversible eyepiece: easy to remove eye cup for use on either eye. Easy adjustments and comfortable to wear. ** Eyeglass friendly: I wear glasses all the time, so I was worried that I would have to take them off to use this. NOT the case. My glasses fit comfortable in the eye cup. Something to note... without my glasses on, there was a bit of blur for me. I'm 20/80 nearsighted. I wear black horn-rimmed glasses and they fit in there comfortably. I have not used this for a long day yet, so comfort remains to be determined over long periods. Construction seems sturdy, don't imagine it breaking easily. Well-made. Pop-up eyepiece- Makes for easy access to view the LCD screen normally. Looks professional- When coupled with my 6D, my Morros Rig with video light and RODE mic, it looks like a very professional set-up (great for pros). CONS: - Does not work with battery grip. Not enough reach. I have both my 6Ds gripped, but when I do video, I remove the grip because it's bulky on my rig. So, not really a problem for me, but others might want to be aware. - The vertical adjustment thumb screw on the right hand side covers the left hand portion of the multi-selector on the back of the camera. However, this was expected as can be seen from the pictures. I knew it was going to be in the way, but I can still navigate my menus, just can not use the 'left' button. Probably can just remove the thumb screw and wouldn't be a problem, but I don't feel it's that much of a nuisance. - Orange Colors - really more of my own personal preference, but I don't like the color of the ring and thumbscrews. Wish they were black. Even with the cons mentioned, I don't think it deserves to be dinged a full star. REALLY REALLY REALLY wish Amazon would revamp the rating system and allow half stars or some other way to not have to select between 4 and 5 star ratings only.

As advertised.
Mounted to my Nikon D3400 very easily. The door magnets are as powerful as stated, one minor problem is that I had to recement the magnet back into the housing. I also put a 1" strip of Velcro around the front top and two sides of the lens extension that abuts the live view lens extending the mounting bracket to it's maximum length which now allows me to reach all buttons adjacent to the viewing screen and keep light out. The Velcro was of the soft nature and is held on by the two height adjustment screws. The magnification focus was not effected and now the live view screen is clear and large with greater ability to focus and observe the subject.

Fits perfect on Canon 5d MK III
This viewfinder works as advertised! Pictured is my setup I used it with for the 2017 Mint 400 shoot. I was able make the racking shots I need to make on 100+ mph trophy trucks without a problem. The magnet mount is really strong and stays in place. I did not have to use my glasses to do any shots due to the adjustable diopter. The adjustment knobs on this newer version make tooless setup a breeze. Don't spend the money on a more expensive viewfinder. It fits perfect on my Canon 5d MK III. It was only in the way of the play button on my camera but that was not a big deal. I just pulled it away slightly from its magnetic mount and operated that button. I shoot in harsh, dusty environments and it held up to my abuse.

Love it - A Must Have
This accessory will make a BIG difference when shooting video that requires pulling focus and when viewing playback for sharpness. Pros: Solid feel when attached. Fits my Canon T3i like a glove (and is fully adjustable). Eyepiece flips up nicely to allow for direct viewing of the camera screen. Great magnification. Crystal clear in the sun (or in the dark for that matter). Eyepiece comes off quickly with a twist for access to all of the camera buttons (see cons below), but stays on strong while shooting. Won't hinder you from attaching to a tripod or other holding device because it has 2 receptors on the bottom. Adds a little weight, but it's a solid build. Looks really cool, I must say. Cons: The right-side knob for adjusting the vertical position does block the left-arrow menu button (on a Canon T3i), however this menu button isn't accessed during video filming/record, so it's not much of an issue. Since the entire eyepiece pops off as needed (and can be worn around the neck with the supplied lanyard), the left-arrow button can be accessed before and after you roll. Not bad enough (on my T3i) to detract a star. Side note: I had purchased a similar type of eyepiece unit years ago that required a "frame" to be permanently attached to the camera's veiwscreen, which was very undesirable so I never used it, particularly since it prevented the screen from being closed ever again for storing and protection. This Tarion won't ruin your camera with adhesives and attachments that can't come off. I highly recommend this unit for the Canon T3i, but you should definitely look for reviews using your specific brand/model of camera.

Perfect view finder for daylight filming!
Hooked it up to my Cannon and attached it to my rig with video monitor. Looks great, works perfectly and after a little fiddling the base plate attached onto the base plate of my rig and it worked out perfect.

Works well with my D500.
This is a nice, solid unit. It works well with my Nikon D500. Some people have stated that the hood attaches to the tripod thread with a screw instead of a magnet, but that is not true. The screw allows right/left alignment with the camera's screen. It takes a firm pull to remove the tang of the hood from the tripod thread, which is good, as you would not want the hood coming off your camera during use. Beside the maginetic catch, my other concern was how the eyecup would work with my glasses. The eyecup works fine with my glasses, which do not have small lenses. The view of the camera's screen is reasonable sharp, although there is some geometric and chromatic aberration. With the enlargement of the screen, it is easy to tell when you are in focus.
