I'm 5 11", 170 lbs, thin build, I've worn a 32 waist most of my adult life. I've been exercising a lot this year, and am down to 156 - 160 lbs, most of my 32 jeans and shorts are falling off my hips now and I need a belt to keep them up. So I ordered a 32 and a 30 to compare, the 32's were pretty big shorts and I thought even at 170 lbs these would seem too big and baggy, but the 30's were spot on and fit perfect, but in contrast I'm not sure I could pull off the 30" waist if I was still at 170 lbs, they are not tight, but definitely no room to grow. Hopefully this will help someone not have to buy 2 sizes like I did, and just get it right the first try. Also I do like them, and the length is great just below the knee... most shorts are getting shorter now (guess that's whats in style), the legs are tapered pretty straight with no flair (I don't like my shorts to look like I'm wearing a dress), so yea, these rock and I ordered 3 more pair. Cheers!

Unrequested story, but I don't care. I accidentally bought a pair of these years ago, in Hawaii.....Wait....Let me rephrase that....I bought an extremely similar pair of Union Bay shorts in Hawaii years ago, and they were instantly my favorite shorts. And I'm a guy that tends to wear shorts 7 days a week, 365 days a year. I'm serious. My body thermostat runs very high, so I wear shorts in the Winter, too.....and will only wear long pants of any kind if I'm going to be outside for over 45 minutes...or if it's required. Anyway....Back to the shorts.....The pair I bought in Hawaii saw many years of wear, but I couldn't find then again, anywhere. I searched and searched and nothing.... Then a few days back I stumble across these here on Amazon, and thought I was seeing things. Ordered them right away, hoping they were exactly like the pair I had, and when they arrived, it was a great day. They fit GREAT!!!....Just order the waist size you would on a basic pair of jeans, and you WON'T go wrong! I'm 6' 3", and wear 36" inseam jeans....So, finding shorts that aren't Daisy Dukes is neaxt to impossible.....Until now. I LOVE them!!....And every payday will be buying the different colrs they have....and even multiples of a few. Comfortable.....Tough....Look great totally slobbed out or casual with a nicer shirt. Exactly like I had before, and can't thank Union Bay and Amazon, enough! ......It's been a long search!

Just ordered a pair and they fit perfectly, are the perfect length just below the knee, is a good weight 100% cotton material, and includes a belt. It says it was made in Vietnam, the stitching is excellent, and there are lots of pockets with velcro closures. And the price is great. Clearly, Union Bay is doing an excellent job in quality, fit, style and price control. Every other cargo shorts I've purchased always had something off about them. I'm 6 feet tall and wear size 36 and they fit just right without being too baggy like so many others. Love these so much, just ordered another pair in another color.

Excellent Fitting, Quality is nice, very comfortable

I'm 6'4" 190 and they fit perfectly. Length is right under the knee the way I like it. If you are under 6 feet tall maybe they are a little long but for taller guys they work very well. There are 2 negatives if you can call them that. One is that the shorts come with annoying tags that you have to be careful when removing. The second negative is that the material is a little thinner than I would have preferred. They won't withstand heavy use or hard work. This is only a minor negative though. I've had shorts with even thinner material last for years but if you are a big guy that would stretch the material then I would suggest something stronger. For tall thin guys these will fit great. I'm getting a couple more color to rotate. Not easy to find shorts that fit this well.

Generously cut, I'll need the belt. Sort of roughly made, many threads to trim. Pockets all over the place. The leg ties are functional, meaning they will tighten the bottoms. I will probably cut them off, since I see no need to make the bottom of the shorts narrower. A longer short saves the embarrassment, that 8 inch shorts may present, of popping a nut out the side while sitting atop a picnic table on a hot day. Not that it ever happened to me. Just say'n.

These are great shorts. Are cargo shorts out of style? I don't think so. Especially UnionBay. They are very long though so if you're shorter, they might look a bit weird. They fit perfectly though on me and I'm 6'2. Very happy with the purchase.

Good looking comfortable shorts are difficult to find for my husband and son who are 6' 3" and 6' 4" tall; they are muscular and weigh 180 and 143. These fit the size you'd wear in jeans. ie; a size 36 men's is an actual 36 men's! These shorts fit both perfectly; long length and they say the shorts are really comfortable with room (not ghetto baggy). Comes with a belt & lots of pockets. The shorts can be worn as casual OR dressier depending on what shirt they wear. So many compliments we bought more. The material used is of high quality, they wash well, don't shrink, material hasn't faded, and it's comfortable on the skin/body. FYI, they do not like their shorts to hit above their knees.. These shorts are NOT tight in the crotch area AND fall right below the knee between the lower knee and upper calf. Highly recommend!

I was surprised to find, as a 6'5" guy, that these pants are actually LONG enough for me. Almost all of the cargo pants out there look like 1980's spanks on me due to my longer thigh length. Another reviewer mentioned these are longer and I'll be darned they're great! The material is pleasant feeling and they come with a matching belt (pictured) that makes tightening the waist down a breeze. I'm quite pleased with these shorts, and wear them maybe a little too often...

LOVE these shorts despite the fact that I am pretty sure I had an almost identical pair which were considered to be in style about 2 decades ago... I consider these shorts "uber-cargo" shorts, as they have extra, outer pockets on the main cargo pockets to hold more, smaller things & they have what can really only be described as cavernous storage areas in all of the other pockets on them. I like that they are long but not baggy- it makes them versatile as I can wear them at 60* (or less) outside to walk my dog in the morning without being cold, but then I can wear them later in the day once its 80 + degrees outside & not feel too hot. They are long to be sure, but they are cut slimmer than you'd expect for that length & the pull-ties on the bottom hems allows you to sinch them in to look even tighter-fitting should you wish. My wife is going to demand I buy a few more pairs of them, as they have such ample storage capacity that I've worn them a bunch already- with all their huge pockets, I am able to leave my briefcase/man-purse at home more often now when I wear them, as I am usually able to carry everything I need when I go out in my pockets & hence don't always require a bag when leaving the office or house anymore. An added bonus is that because they were obviously designed with the intent to provide a large amount of cargo space, they do not appear bulky or otherwise "lumpy" looking when walking around with filled pockets- which is something that other shorts (cargo or not) usually tend to do if you fill your pockets up. I love them & will be purchasing additional pairs for sure.
