I had a set of blue stoneware dishes that were round, and very heavy duty, but I only had five since I bought them at a garage sale. I also had a partial set of green, square, japanese-style plates. After three years of use and wear, they were tired, and I was tired of not having a full set. I didn't have the money to purchase the Rachel-Ray sets that I loved, especially since I needed two sets (8 settings total). Then I stumbled along the AmazonBasics sets. Not only were there a variety of colors for me to choose from, but they were the right price! Two sets of these (8 place settings in total) is the same price as one of the Rachel Ray everyday set. I read the reviews and decided these were the right ones for my growing family. ...And I figured, "hey, if they don't work out, at least Amazon Prime returns are very simple." I will ***NOT*** be returning these dishes. I expected a thin version of dinnerware, but NO-- These are sturdy. The color representation from the online picture to the actual product is very accurate. The bowls, though smaller than the ones I had before, will be wonderful for controlling soup and cereal portions. I love the size of the salad plate. At just one average woman's hand width across, they just *feel right* in my palm. The mugs are a decent size. If you enjoy a hefty cup of coffee in the morning, these won't be for you. Odds are, though, you have a favorite mug anyway. For entertaining or the occasional tea/hot chocolate drinker, though, these are the perfect size. The handles are the kind that are easy to rest your thumb on top of, too, so that's another plus! This mama is so happy about her new dishes. I give these five stars because I'm RIDICULOUSLY excited to dirty them up with my food.

Bought two sets for me nearly 3 years ago, and till today they look great. I never encountered any issues with discoloration, cracking, chipping, not handling microwave well, I never questioned the quality. I don't have a dishwasher, so I can't confirm anything related to it. This is a ted, slightly heavier than what I grew up using, but barely noticeable and not enough for me to care since it matches my marine table setting (I live in Hawaii). I think the sizes are traditional without anything being too big or too small, so I'm glad I bought these and would certainly recommend them to anyone looking for something simple, inexpensive, yet durable.

The dishes don't feel thin as some have said. They feel solid and sturdy. The minimal aesthetic is very nice. There is an Amazon Basics logo on the bottom of each dish which some reviewers said makes the dishes look cheap. I disagree. Unless you turn them over, the logo isn't visible. And I'd say that anyone who judges you for having plates from Amazon should feel free to eat at their own house. The only thing I dislike about the set is the size of the mugs. They're on the small side and are just large enough to use the smallest setting in my Keurig.

Cheap and good! Better than Ikea and I didn't have to go to Ikea, so that's like WAY better than Ikea.

My boyfriend and I just moved in together this year and wanted a dinnerware set that looked sleek and elegant, but didn't break the bank. After a lot of debate, we settled on the Amazon set, and have not been disappointed yet. This is a great set for every day use--I particularly love the bowls, which are much deeper than the bowls from a set I've used in the past. These bowls can easily hold a can of soup, which is great. The only thing that slightly bothers me about the set is that the plates don't stack flush on top of each other. You can tell that there is some design flaw, as the rims get really close to the plates under it, then curve back up. Regardless, this is a small issue and we have no problems with the set during use. The set is also sturdy and have suffered no chips or damages despite all the stacking. We don't use a dishwasher and everything has been very easy to hand wash--the set looks good as new since our purchase in May. I would definitely purchase these again in the future and recommend this set for those who are looking for something of decent quality and design for an affordable price.

There are imperfections in these, but you’re not going to find any set in this price range without them. I actually got these on accident, when trying to get a Correll set. I thought I had chosen the correll but that’s what happens when you shop Amazon first thing in the morning after drinking a Mexican village’s amount of tequila the night before. Correll designs just aren’t that nice and I wanted a classic cafe design, so I stuck with it. I’m sure they won’t last as long as Correll, but they are going to look good while they hold my bacon wrapped ribeyes and potatoes. As long as I don’t place vegetables on them, they should last for a while...

We have had dish sets/dinnerware that cost a significant amount more than this set (two) from Amazonbasics. I'm not suggesting they are premium dinnerware at a cheap price, but they are great everyday dinnerware, with a simple, clean, lightweight design. We wish the bowls were a little broader, but that's just a quibble. The name is perfect: "Cafe Stripe Dinnerware." We live in a "mid-century" condo building downtown with a modern design from that era, and this dinnerware is a great match to that vibe. Also, I haven't really checked to see what they're made from, but I have accidentally banged a couple of them semi-hard. No damage.

Very pleasing to use. Doesn't feel flimsy and I like the appearance. I dropped a plate on the floor and it just bounced. Same with a cup/mug into my sink. This is very sturdy dinnerware. I hadn't noticed if it was microwave safe when I bought it so I tested it (30 secs on High while empty) and it didn't get burning hot like non-safe does. Then I found the safe notice on the bottom and laughed at myself. I would buy again for sure.

This is a perfect set! I ordered a second set just to have a more complete set. Came well packaged and they have proven durable in the dishwasher. Also very basic but well presented look. Many compliments and people thought they were a much more expensive set.
