I was apprehensive about purchasing this set because of the inconsistent reviews. My set are great, smooth as even specialty yarns moving freely on the needle points and shafts. So far I have used 3 different size sets. It appears there is a shellac or varnish coating on mine and the density or irregularities in evenness of the application may account for some of the problems some purchasers have had. It makes me wonder if all have a finish or there is more than one source for the needles or perhaps many different people handling the production of them. The length is good for small projects but I would not use them for large items. I am a long time knitter but not an expert and I felt the items I got were great.

This is a great inexpensive set of knitting needles. I'm just getting back into knitting, and I wanted a variety of sizes to work with as I practice. This set definitely fits the bill. I went on a marathon knitting session with these (made a couple of scarves as presents in a three week period) and my fingers started to feel dry/almost brush-burned where the needles rubbed against them, but that may have more to do with my technique or the volume of knitting I took on. Overall, a great value.

These needles are wonderful for beginner knitters because they provide a grip for the yarn. I have been using them for about a week now. The only thing I do not like about them is it is hard to see the size of the needle that is embedded on the side of the needle. I am thinking about color coordinating them and making a chart for myself so I am easily able to grab the size I need. For the price the quantity and quality are good especially for a newbie knitter like myself. Yes, I would recommend these knitting needles if asked.

I am a new knitter and was gifted a large assortment of long, metal knitting needles. My current project is knitting a small scarf for my 4 year old. My stitches kept slipping off of the ends of my metal needles. I searched some forums for suggestions. One suggestion was to buy cheap, bamboo knitting needles. It was the perfect solution. I haven’t had any slipped stitches, yet the stitches slide easily from one needle to the other. The size is perfect, too, for this smaller project. My other needles are 14 in., which was bulky for the scarf, but these 10 in. needles are just right.

I just started knitting and I only had two sets of needles. I bought these so I would have a variety of sizes. I received all sizes listed, and the product is described accurately. I can tell the material used is not as good as the other ones I bought at a local knitting store that cost $10 for one set. I still gave the product 5 stars because the price is amazing.

Love the feel of the bamboo as to the metal needles. The length is great for small projects and the round knob keeps from getting itself caught in things unlike the metal needles with the flat ends

I am new to knitting, as in 3 weeks new. I have crocheted for 28 years, so I know my way around a ball of yarn. Since I am just starting to learn, and I have all this yarn in my house, I wanted a large collection of needles so that I can have a few projects going and try different types of yarn, like fingering weight, worsted and bulky. I had an assorted collection of metal needles I'd purchased at a rummage sale and with all the stitches on them, they got heavy. I like the lightweight nature of the bamboo. I prefer metal for crocheting though, but with that you don't have tens or hundreds of stitches hanging off your hook! These come packaged in pairs. All of the needles were smooth to the touch. No smells. I did see some sloppy gluing jobs of the heads, but that won't be a problem. The smaller sizes don't have their US or metric numbers stamped on them but the larger ones do. I got all these for the price of one pair at the big box arts and crafts store, so this will be a nice way to try out all the different yarns.

Needles are inscribed with their sizes directly on them, very useful. The set even came with a paper card with size gauges on it, which I appreciate. Can't attest to the durability yet, as I just got them, but they're really nice to start with. Smooth, light weight, and straight, exactly as portrayed. They give a tiny bit of grip on the yarn, which helps prevent the yarn from slipping easily, so great for beginners or people who are slightly clumsy. I highly prefer these over metal ones because I like these qualities and that it is a more eco-friendly material option that metal products. If you enjoy working with wooden material, these are great, they so far they havn't splintered or caught the yarn in a cumbersome manner. I imagine you have to be a bit gentle handed with them, as with any thin, wooden instrument, but they seem adequately sturdy if used appropriately and I'm not concerned about it. I wish there was an option for a smaller size range, I really only wanted sizes 5mm-9mm but for the price and quality it's worth getting the whole set.

They are 9" long, since the description doesn't specify on here.

I received these today and am impressed by the value. You get 18 pairs of needles for what I usually pay for just a pair of needles. My favorite thing about these needles is that they do come in smaller sizes which are so hard to find. I am involved in a class where we teach children to knit and rely on donations for yarns and needles. At these prices, I can easily afford to give kids the needle size they need and made of my favorite material for knitting, wood. I will try knitting with them to get a better idea, but on quick inspection they were smooth and that was not the case for another brand I bought by mail order.
