The lights in my range hood stopped working. I noticed the sockets looked burnt. This assembly was easy to install and fixed the problem. Let there be light.
The sockets in the original assembly started failing due to a combination of heat from the 50W halogen bulbs and the vibration from the fan and heat from the stove. Since the hood was purchased 9 years ago, I didn't feel too bad at having to replace the light assembly. The installation process was pretty straightforward. Unplug the old assembly, snake it out and install the new assembly. One thing to watch out for is where the assembly wiring runs. If you don't run it exactly in the correct location, there is a chance the fan could rib on the wires. Just be careful with the installation. One more thing. When we bought this hood, only 50W halogen bulbs were available. Today, however, LED bulbs that only draw about 9 watts are available - for a lot less than the halogens. The quality and color of the LED light is comparable with the halogen. The big difference is the LED produces virtually no heat. This will greatly aid the longevity of the sockets. One more note, although the manufacturer doesn't specifically endorse LED's, We have had no issues with them whatsoever.
