Knives are well made, durable, needing only light sharpening upon arrival. Great weight, balance, comfortable handle, and becomes an extension of your arm over time. The wife believes the paring knife is too big and heavy and prefers her Victorinox paring knife. Otherwise a great set. Even the steak knifes are heavy duty, and sharp, no struggling to work around the bone on your T-bone. Only cheap item is the sharpening steal, but just replaced it with my own.

I was shopping for a new knife set and bought this one over Wusthof based on the reviews, and am very glad I read them! I already own a Wusthof chef's knife that I bought years ago at Williams Sonoma for over $90, and the thing is only good for making salad. As I learned from reviews on Amazon, I have bought a Wusthof made in China, not in Germany, which is apparently very inferior to the German made line. This entire set, Is well made, excellent weight, nice handles, nice block, and are so sharp I feel like I've never chopped with a knife before this. To top it off, I paid far less for this entire set than I paid for the one knock-off Wusthof. I love them and cannot recommend them highly enough!! Fantastic!!!!

I purchased this set 2 1/2 years ago. I have never regretted it. The knives are very high quality for such a low price. They sharpen up well. They are very durable and look great. I can't tell any difference in the way they look after all of those washings in the sink and dishwasher. The five stars represents a quality/value calculation. These knives are not the highest quality you can get, but they are by far the best you can get for this price.

Amazing deal! I bought these for a vacation home thinking it would be just so-so in quality. But these are almost as good as the Wusthof brand knives. Super sharp and heavy. The Wood block doesn't look sealed, but that's the only negative.

I have been a Chef for 17 yrs. and from experience know you don't get quality in an inexpensive knife set. This AmazonBasics Premium set really impressed me. The knives I use and have at home are mixed matched because I like good hefty knives. My wife always rags on me that the knives look crappy, so I got on here and started reading reviews. I was not gonna spend alot of money on a set knowing that I have good knives already. Then I saw this set, and looked at the video. I got them in TWO days, and when I opened the package I was expecting the block to be split, chipped, or have saw marks. As you can see the one I got was flawless. I then took out the chefs knife and smiled. Easily comparable to a 8" Zwilling JA Henckels Pro Traditional Chefs Knife. It has the same quality, heft, and balance. TRUST ME I KNOW!!!! Beautiful knife. The thickness of the blade is equal to my Victorinox Fibrox Chefs Knife and I paid $45. for that knife alone!!! This here is a quality product at a good price. Treat them with respect and they will last for YEARS. If your looking for a good complete set, a nice wedding gift, of just looking to replace the "crappy" set you have look no further.

Ordered a knife set called Super Products Inc. I was unhappy with the sharpness and returned it to Amazon. Decided to spend more and order Chicago Cultery Fusion. The sharpness was okay, but the knives did not fit well in the block....all uneven. Sent it back and reordered the same set again. Once again a very poor fit that was unacceptable, all knives misaligned. Sharpness was okay. Sent that set back also. I decided to try the less expensive Amazon Basics. Just received the set and they fit perfectly in the block, and the sharpness is far superior to the previous sets I sent back. I'm very impressed with the weight and the feel each knife. Very happy with this set and would highly recommend this product.

My 15 month old discovered one click ordering and ordered this set of knives. I didn't know I was receiving them until I got the shipment email. They seemed like good quality when they arrived so I decided to keep them, I was in need of a few knives anyway! I must say being the "Amazon Basics" brand I was skeptical but its been almost a year and they have held up and I really like the chopping and slicing knives! Great (accidental) find

I admit i have had cheap knives all my life, i do not know much about kitchen knives. i thought it was time to step and get some good ones. I was expecting to pay $150 for a set, but i came across these. They had stellar reviews and a fantastic price. So i figured, what the heck. I bought them. I really like them. Again, i am not a knife expert, but they feel like the real deal. they have a bit of weight to them. They are very sharp. I trimmed a brisket with them yesterday and it was like slicing thru warm butter. The block is just a plain block. the knives look great, a friend saw them and he thought they were Henckels. I am very happy so far.

I am totally satisfied with this knife set. For the past several months I have been perusing the knife sets in department stores. Didn't find exactly what I wanted. I wanted a high quality, long-lasting set of knives. Price was not an issue. Then I began the online search. We hear so much about the German steel. Well, the German steel is exported to China where most all knife sets are made--even the ones with German names. That being said, I noted that this set is an Amazon choice pick, so I went with this suggestion. The knives are excellent & the set contains all the knives, plus some, that a home cook could want & use. The handles are comfortable. With good care & hand washing these knives should last many years. I am very pleased with the quality at such a reasonable price.

Growing up, there was always that one pesky slot on the knife block that was missing a knife. When I got my own apartment, I swore off purchasing a knife block and instead opted for high end individual knives. Around this time, I also became a vegetarian, and decided I didn't need steak knives. Fast forward to today - my husband and I eat meat, we have some individual knives, and love to cook. Our small apartment in NYC has two kitchen drawers (SERIOUSLY), and I realized that we needed more a compact way to hold a greater variety in knives. I purchased this because it addressed all of these issues. Pros: - great variety. I literally use, and have used, all of the knives included with this set. I love the inclusion of the santoku. - very sharp, and easy to sharpen. these came sharp sharp sharp. nothing crazy, but I love using a seriously sharp knife. the sharpener works well enough. - compact and low profile for countertop. the color is muted enough that it fits into a corner easily, and is not very noticeable. The classic black knives look great, with no branding. - hidden branding - the block has branding on one side, but that side faces the wall. perfect! Cons: - these are all cheaper knives, as evidenced by the price. they may not last forever. they may not impress your chef friends. but for the price, I would buy them again and again and again.
