Perfect for families with little ones or if you like a fireplace but don't want the heat.

Perfect For Our Home Pub
I really have no complaints about this 26" version that I recessed into a wall. The flame pattern and flickering log set are very real especially when viewing from further away. Other reviews are correct about how well made and sturdy the firebox is. Upon unboxing I just plugged it in and turned it on. The white power cord is connected to the upper left side of the unit (if you are looking the back end) and extends about 5 feet. In my case, I cut a hole in a wall slightly larger than the size of the fire box and slipped it in. The cut out was made directly in front of an open space behind the wall which happens to be below a staircase landing. So I had plenty of room for at least 8 inches of depth for the unit. I left about an inch and a half of space between the top of the unit and underneath the top wall cutout. Be advised the inside top of the unit gets very warm when the heat is on high so I will be keeping a close eye on heat build up inside that wall. I can always install a strip of cement board to prevent heat from going up the inside wall. For power I am fortunate this unit is installed about 12 inches above the ceiling in my basement so I ran a dedicated line/receptacle to the ceiling joist and dropped the power cord through a hole in the floor. Wires are totally concealed. Keep in mind this is a glorified space heater so plugging into a plug nearby should be fine as long as there is not too much on that circuit. Because of resistance and voltage drop over length it is never a good idea to use an extension cord for any electrical heat. The unit simply slides in and there is no need to anchor the frame to the wall unless you drill noticeable holes in the front of the frame. Although the weight of the unit keeps it in place inside the wall I may make a shelf so the back bottom surface can rest. The top, left and right sides have a 1 inch lip; there is no lip on the bottom. I can very easily pull the unit forward from the top and extract it from the cut out if needed for any reason but, as long as the unit works well, I may just caulk the bottom edge and leave it alone. Heat is blown from the upper left of the unit and the fan is very quiet on high; kind of like the sound of forced air through ceiling vents in a quiet room or computer fan. The room is about 13 X 9 and the ceiling height is about 9 feet and there are 3 good sized windows in the room with lounge chairs directly in front of the windows. There is also two long, forced hot water baseboards for regular heat. The windows in this room (they are about 10 years old) make it drafty in there on very cold days (if highs are in the 20s F) so we hope this will help . I don't think it would heat the room very well if only this unit was used. In fact, I was slightly disappointed with the heat output but a stronger fan would have meant more noise. So we'll see how it goes. That said, if you just came in from being out in the cold and stood in front of the unit it will help to warm you up more quickly.

Or you add trim to make look nice. Added a 20 amp electrical breaker for it ...
Bought to replace an existing ventless gas fireplace. We wanted the ability to have the ambience year round, and some heat capability when needed. Lots of these out there, and with a high variance in pricing, so we went with a well reviewed product that had the dimensions needed. Had to tear our half a 10 foot high and 7 foot wide wall, pull and de-service the gas one, then block and sister the wall to handle the 105 year old piece of cow barn wood we used for the mantle. Mantle is floating on 3 pieces of black iron pipe with an elbow joint, screwed into the 4x10 inch blocks with 4 inch deck lag screws. Not going anywhere. I did burn in the heater on the PuraFlame in the garage on a bench ladder. Heated well and the firebox only got warm in the top left as you look at it, but not too hot to touch and leave your hand on it. Built the framing out of 2x4 inch material with a cement board top on the base. It is a self-flushing insert so it sits freely on the base, and the dimensions on the Amazon website are accurate. While there is a lip around all sides of the insert, your margin of error is maybe 1/4 inch only from the outer trim measurements. Or you add trim to make look nice. Added a 20 amp electrical breaker for it as well with GFCI. Remote is very small, which isn't a bad thing, but could go missing fairly easily. There we some reviews on the manual controls not accessible but I found no problem opening that little vent and was able to control the fireplace without the remote. Like it, pretty, and priced well.

Adds some warmth--and heat--to any room
Okay, so lets's get the obvious out of the way first--you won't be fooled by this. It looks better than most electric fireplaces I've seen, but if you're gonna be disappointed by the fact this electric fireplace doesn't employ next-gen holograms or something, maybe just binge on the gas line. Having addressed that, this--as I said--looks pretty great for an electric fireplace. It also works pretty well, too. On the appearances side, you have multiple brightness and flicker settings--which are controllable from the remote--as well as a pretty convincing faux-brick backdrop. On the heating side--which is controllable from both the remote and the face of the insert--you've got no, low, and high heat options, meaning you can read beside a roaring fire year-round. Well, maybe except for the roaring. There is no sound effect with this unit. No crackling, no popping, no whatever. If that's something you're looking for, you can find crackling noise machines on here for about twenty dollars. Or you can buy an admittedly quieter wooden-wicked candle for maybe half that. I went for the cheaper option, and it works well enough for me. Another thing to consider is the cord, which is white. For me, this worked perfectly, as my fireplace is white, so it blends in very well. However, if you're intending to surround this product with another color of stone, tile, et cetera, you may wanna consider how you'll handle the white snake protruding from your fireplace. In conclusion, I'm very happy with my purchase, all things considered.

Fast fireplace fix.
Came yesterday and slid in nicely to my exeisting fireplace. Looks nice but plan to build full surround as my fireplace is 36" and this measured 35" wide. Looks very nice for the money and did not wa t to spend $5'000 on a gas insert. Perfect for me. Would highly recommend. Very happy with his product. Heat seems pretty good as well. Now I will never have to clean the fireplace again.

but instead opted to buy this electric fireplace and couldn't be happier! It slid right into the box and fit ...
Our chimney is damaged and has been unsafe to use since we bought our house 7 years ago. Got a quote for $3,000 to convert it to a gas fireplace after years of having an ugly empty fire box just sitting there, but instead opted to buy this electric fireplace and couldn't be happier! It slid right into the box and fit perfectly, but most importantly it LOOKS BEAUTIFUL. Doesn't have a cheap look, a fake plasticy look, or a super swanky nightclub feel. Just traditional, clean, nice looking fireplace. Visiting friends all thought it was a real gas flame. It heats up our 300 Sq Foot family room nicely - not a quick heater, it takes a while to really feel the heat but after an hour or so things were really toasty. I couldn't be happier and feel I could write many paragraphs about why I love this thing. Gave me exactly what I've been wanting for years in my house - to watch a movie next to a toasty fire with my family. HIGHLY recommend.

The Perfect Fireplace Fire
I had to wait for a few weeks for this item to get back in stock but it changed the appearance of my fireplace that used to have some old fashion fake logs with a red-ish night light and some tinsel that rotated around to make the logs to appear like they were hot coals. Not only does this thing look like a real fireplace with logs ready to start a fire when it is turned off, when you turn it on it looks very much like soft flames shooting up from the logs. The embers glow different shades just like real coals do. You can also turn on the heater and have hot air blowing out from the fireplace to gently warm the room! About the ONLY thing that makes this fire seem not real is the missing crackling, hissing and popping of a real wood fire... and the smoke seeping out into the room which is really a good thing.

Best Electric Fireplace Out There!
Couldn't be happier! I was looking for the perfect wall mounted electric fireplace. I just couldn't find one I liked. Either the flames look horrible, or there is a small window that stays dark, or the heat goes straight up from the top... Then I found this! It doesn't hang on the wall so it forces you to make a "home" for it to make it look "real". I created a reclaimed wood wall for it. Plus it's so thin I didn't even have to break into or take down the drywall of the original wall. This fireplace looks as real as an electric fireplace can look. When the room is well lit, use the blue flame effect and it gives it a slightly more realistic effect, but if the room is dark and youre going for a more romantic look, then turn the blue flame off. The glass provides just enough glare to hide the fake look when not being used. This is nothing like the cheesy little built ins you see on the TV entertainment centers at discount stores. This fireplace is... well, BEAUTIFUL! I am so happy I purchased this instead of wall mount. FYI it has a standard plug, so you'll need to plug it in, no hard wiring needed. If you want a fireplace on a wall that doesnt have one, get a mantle, build it out a bit and add THIS FIREPLACE. You won't regret it either! The embers dance in the logs, it looks like there's a flame underneath the logs. So realistic!
