I can't say enough good things about this grill. It's 100% Weber - which says it all. It's well-built and designed. A substantial grill.....that fits my needs perfectly. I am unable to lift the standard LP gas tank that comes with larger grills. The screw-in canister is GREAT! And, this grill is perfect for smaller decks and porches. I, also, purchased the cart & cover and am EXTREMELY happy with all three. The choice of colors makes for a fun grill and has been a topic of conversation for my guests who 'help' me while I grill. Who wouldn't want a purple, fuchsia or other fun color grill?! This isn't an inexpensive grill, but it is the BEST!

This portable gas grill is perfect for apartment balconies or patios (if your apartment allows you to use a gas grill) and compact enough to travel with on road trips and camping trips. I purchased this grill with Weber's 6557 Q Portable Cart and the combination could not be more perfect and stylish, if I must say so myself. Since it is just the wife and I, this grill is perfect for our life style. When the grill sits on the 6557 Q Portable Cart, it makes a mean grilling statement on the patio, albeit a small statement. It uses 14.1 oz or 16.4 oz disposable LP canisters for fuel, which enhances its mobility, clean-up and cost efficiency. It can be hooked up to larger standard stationary propane tank with Type I connector using the Weber 6501 hose adapter accessory, which is an excellent alternative if you don't plan to frequently travel with your Q 1200. We personally hooked our Q 1200 to a standard 20 lb propane tank at home and take a 4-pack of BernzOmatic 16.4 oz LP canisters with us on the road. If you do a lot of grilling at home, hooking the Q 1200 to a standard propane tank via the Weber hose adapter kit instead of repeatedly buying disposable LP packs prove to be more economical in the long run, i.e. $13 for a 4-pack of 16.4 oz disposable LP canisters vs. $10~$15 to fill a 20 lb propane tank. You just need to fork out a ~$55 initial investment for a tank and first propane fill-up. On a lukewarm day (75 F degrees), it takes about 8 minutes for the grill to get up to 450 F degrees, this is contingent on ambient temperature of course; the colder the ambient temperature, the longer it will take for the Q 1200 to heat up. I would say a 16.4 oz LP canister would last us an average of 4.5~5 hours of straight grilling between 350-450 F degrees and we've grilled everything from bone-in ribeye steaks to NY strip steaks, slices of thick cut pork belly, chicken (thighs, breasts, wings, small whole and spatchcocked - all skin on), carne asada flap meat, pork ribs, vegetables (tomatoes, potatoes, bell peppers, onions, asparagus, squash, zucchini, etc.), jalapeno poppers, Costco Polish beef sausages, stuffed squids and burger patties on this little mean grilling machine. Want to smoke your meat? Grab a pack of "Smoke in a Cup" by Charcoal Companion or Liquid Smoke by Colgin Companies (I prefer the former). You can pretty much grill whatever the 3-burner older brother Weber Genesis can with the Q 1200, but in smaller volume and throughput. When removed from the foldable portable cart, the Q 1200 sits perfectly on a table top, on a camping ground or at the beach - perfect for all situations. Slap on a Weber 6558 Q Original Griddle (works great with Weber non-stick spray) and you can be searing scallops or flipping pancakes, preparing bacon to crispy perfection and grilling sausage links on this bad boy while you make yourself a cup of Joe (or tea or orange juice) in the background in anticipation for the ultimate breakfast in no time. We originally considered purchasing a 3-burner Weber Genesis and taking it with us when we move into a single family home, but we're glad we held off. This little grill accommodates our grilling need and road tripping life style efficiently, and did I mention that it is portable? It fits in the back of our 3rd gen Prius on the Weber portable folding cart without having to fold down the rear seats. It also fits in our Prius C with the rear seats down with minimal obstruction and plenty of room for grilling ingredients and traveling cargo. It'll compliment the 3-burner Weber we'll purchase in the future. I can see the Q 1200 also being the ultimate tailgate companion. I've grilled more food on our little grill that could and more in the one and a half month of ownership than I've ever grilled on our charcoal barrel grill/smoker by Master Forge that we've had for the past 5 years! Pro Tip: To keep your Q 1200 in tip-top shape, I recommend using disinfecting wet wipes to wipe down the sides and lid after each grilling session once the unit is cool to the touch. Yeah, it's a lot manual labor but the grease and char that shoots out of the side vents can accumulate quickly and create a sticky and unsightly situation if left to its own device. Be sure to wipe the cart too and standard propane tank, if you have either or both. The porcelain-coated cast iron grates are easy to clean and dishwasher safe. We pop them into the dishwasher after every 10 grilling sessions. While another reviewer mentioned that she lines her grill with aluminum foil up and down, including the grill bowl, to minimize clean-up, and I defend her rights to do that, I think it's overkill. I mean it's a grill after all, it's meant to take a beating. Kind of like hard parking a sports car. After every 10 grilling sessions, do your grill a favor and scrape the lower grill bowl with a sturdy putty knife and clean the burner tube with Weber's detailing brush. Protect your investment! If you plan to secure your Q 1200 onto the Weber 6557 portable folding cart, be sure to get the Weber 6554 Premium Cover - this cover protects your Q AND your cart and shields your standard propane tank (if using one) from direct sunlight. If you intend to use the Q as a standalone griller, the Weber 6550 27" vinyl Q cover will suffice. I recommend the following accessories to accompany your new investment: Weber 6701 basting brush, Weber 6558 Original griddle, Weber 6630 3-piece original tool set, Weber 6493 grill brush, Weber 6686 detailing brush, Weber 6415 disposable aluminum drip pan 10-pack, Weber 6554 Premium Cover (if you have a cart); Weber 6550 Q 27" vinyl cover (if using the Q standalone without cart) and Weber 6557 Q Portable folding cart.

My partner and I live in a motorhome full time and have very little room for gadgets. We wanted a propane grill because dealing with charcoal is just too much for me to bear with my instant gratification issues, but were worried that a smaller option wouldn't have enough oomph. Well! This bad boy gets up to 500* in no time flat and performs like its much bigger cousins with a significantly smaller footprint. Grill a med-rare ribeye to perfection, no problemo. Plenty of room for two people to grill a complete meal with meat and veggies. Four decent size steaks will fit just fine. The grates are nonstick, which is exciting, and very easy to clean. Assembly is almost nonexistent - you snap the ignition switch and knob on and done. The sidetables are surprisingly sturdy and larger than I thought they would be. This is a solid grill, not flimsy at all, and very much comparable to a full size Weber on a smaller scale. We purchased the following accessories, and I recommend all of them: Grill cart - super sturdy Adapter hose - we need BIG propane Vinyl cover - you don't want to ruin your pretty grill Griddle - bacon and eggs, yes please! This is an amazing little grill and I'm kicking my own butt that I didn't buy it sooner. Make sure you get the model with the temp gauge and the side tables - they are absolutely worth it.

This is the 2nd Weber Q grill that I've acquired. I bought it as a gift. Since the last one I got, Weber has added a spiffy thermometer to the front, which, IMHO is pretty useless if you are an experienced cook or griller, but might be helpful for a beginner. The burner beneath the grills is an elongated oval tube (like the shape of a dining room table), with the flame-holes located at the top. Very simple. The red color is bright and just as well-applied as any other boring color on any other Weber ever was. The grills inside are enameled and plop in and out very simply. They're heavy. The side-tables fold up and down (which makes it easier to lift & carry) and the handles beneath them are very sturdy. The entire thing is sturdy and heavily-built in the body. But not too heavy; I can lift it and I'm old. (Really old. And wimpy.) The legs and tables and underparts of the base are built of heavy plastic. Same as my old Q--which is in great condition...and which was bought the first year Q came out. Most people dread putting together a grill--but don't fear this one. It took 3 minutes, mostly because I misplaced the trifocals. It also comes with the battery for the starter--which is a simple push-button gizmo that produces a spark. Like for a gas cook-top. I am thinking of giving one of these as a wedding present. If you get one, it's a good idea to get the rolling stand as well. I never take the grill off it, ever. I don't think anybody would regret having one of these.

Absolutely amazing little grill. I live in an apartment complex and we use this thing 2-3x per week and have also used it on the beach. It is nice and compact, but at the same time can easily fit 6 chicken breasts or 6 burgers. Love the fold out trays to put plates, sauces, utensils, or anything you need while cooking. The whole grill feels very solid and I never feel like it is going to tip over like some other portable grills. The grill gets hot in 6-8 minutes and can easily hit the 500+ degree mark when turned on high for some nice searing. One of my favorite features of this grill is the design of the grates. They are set in such a way that food drippings do not drip onto the gas burner below. It prevents clogs and keeps an even flame for cooking. Clean up is easy with a typical steel brush and if you line the drip tray in foil it makes for a real easy cleanup before traveling. Even the inside under the burner cleans easily. Also, spring for a fun color. The great smell and fun color will attract new friends if camping or traveling!! Few concerns: - I have a 20lb tank I use with it and the 1lb tanks for travel. I an not sure if it is this grill or all grills, but be careful when screwing in the hose or mini-tanks. I often feel like it mis-threads and have to backoff and screw it in again. - The handle over the propane connection is not the most well places as I can't get my fingers between the handle and connector. Could have a little more room, but not the biggest deal as the grill is pretty light and easy to carry. Overall I highly recommend this grill as I did my research and this thing is well worth the money. Excellent for anyone looking for a compact grilling solution!! Hopefully I can get some of the accessories in the near future as everyone seems to be raving about those too!

Product was packaged well. Product arrived undamaged. Craftsmanship was as you would expect from Weber. I converted the unit to an RV application by removing the regulator supplied with the grill. You will need to separate the regulator from the gas control valve. I was able to do it with a pair of vise grips and channel locks but I would recommend using an actual vise for easier removal. After I removed the regulator I attached the following parts: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001PD0QB4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006PKKZL8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007HG7WUQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (this provides an easier angle for attaching the hose and alleviating some pressure on the angle of attachment) Hose for quick connect https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CPYC9BC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Here is the cart for the Weber(some mixed reviews for stability) Also available at local Lowes/Home Depot for same price. https://www.amazon.com/Weber-6557-Portable-Cart-Grilling/dp/B00FLRB0GK/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1523447774&sr=8-2&keywords=weber+stand Some people may disagree with the application of teflon tape or liquid equivalent, I chose to use teflon tape. All in all with Prime this package came in at $257 I though about getting the Coleman Roadtrip, but I'm glad I spent the little extra for the Weber. Well worth the purchase.

I purchased this grill after using my old tabletop grill for 10 years. My only regret was not buying this grill 8 years ago. The grill is primarily used when we travel with our RV. It is the perfect size to stow away and then use when needed on the road. This grill gets extremely hot and cooks fast with even heat. One of my favorite design features is the bottom of the grill does not get smoking hot, so you can set it on picnic tables and other surfaces without it damaging them from the extreme heat. My old grill actually bubbled the bed liner on my truck tailgate. I like this grill so much, I'm considering using it at home as my primary grill since we rarely cook for more than 4 people. The last time I used it, I put 4 steaks on it in fairly windy conditions, and it performed with no problems. The electric igniter works great and is a nice touch. I think the only thing I am going to purchase is the accessory cord so I can hook it to a large propane cylinder instead of using the portable 1 lb. bottles.

I bought this grill to replace a Char-Grill Grill-2-Go X200 infrared grill. The Char-Brill was an OK product, but I found out that I don't like infrared grilling. At first, I bought the Weber Q1000 because of the lower price, but I learned that some features I wanted were missing, something the description did not highlight or even mention. So, I returned the Q1000 and bought this. This one has everything I want and more. It has a thermometer in the lid, fold out side tables that are quite sturdy, a battery operated igniter (rather than one that does not need a battery - (I've never had any luck with those.). The top and bottom are made of cast aluminum which makes it rust free, has a convenient and inexpensive grease drip system using disposable aluminum trays that slide in place under the grill, and it comes with a five year warranty, I'm very happy with it.

This is my second "Clam shell" grill. It is an upgrade from my last one in that it has wings and a thermometer. The thermostat seems to be better than my first one because it actually adjusts from around 600 degrees on high to 350 degrees on low. The new lighter knob is bigger than the old one and the lid handle is slightly further away from the lid keeping it cooler. I like the sturdy cast metal shell and the split grilling surface. My old one died of old age and abuse. I'm hoping to take better care of this one and have it last for the rest of my life (I'm 71).

I did a LOT of comparing of this to the Coleman tailgate grills and my use seems to validate what I'd hoped. 1) Did allow roasting racks of lamb etc. worked well with top down. Not just a burgers and dogs grill. 2) NOT messy when used with a roasting tray Weber makes. Also, we did bacon ON the drive and neither they or the lamb made a mess. Grill drip try worked and interior wasn't a goop fest. 3) Stable in use and traveled well. I was able to fold in the table sides and put the add-on griddle, roasting tray, wire frame and veggie basket IN the unit. (I added a single bungie cord around it to keep the lid close if knocked over during travel.) We had 30 mph gusts on a desert trip and had to wind break the unit with a pair of tool boxes and it came through. Normal breezes no issue. The vinyl cover, handle light, roasting tray and griddle are all accessories. I'd WISH there was a 'chef kit' that might save a consumer a bit of $ on these --- but they are spiffy accessories. Weber's cooking methodology of indirect heat still works with this unit. Also, it can direct grill and grill mark chops/steaks too. I
