From the house, it was hard to tell how this light was doing. The dock where the flag pole stands is about 100 feet from the house and all you could see was a modest amount of illumination. But I walked down to check things out and was very happy with the amount of light this light generates. You can see the dock is fully illuminated as well. Added bonus is that it was very easy to install. Overall, I am very pleased with this light.

After trying a couple of other flagpole lights that wouldn't last for more than a couple of hours, I found this and am completely happy with it. It arrived about 2:00 pm on December 22nd (the longest night of the year) and after installing it, it only had about 2 1/2 hours to charge before sunset. Not only did it come on and really illuminate the flag well after dark, it was still going strong the next morning at 6:45 am as I went out to get the morning newspaper. I'll continue to monitor it and if it goes bad sometime in the future, I'll update this review. For now, I couldn't be happier.

I was nervous about these lights...seems many think they are great but a few claim big problems. Well, I think the many are right. I've had mine 3 years and it has worked flawlessly. I keep it on the flagpole 8 months/year. It is on the beach on Lake Michigan so it takes quite an abuse from the weather. It comes down in late fall and back up early spring. Some complain it is not bright enough. It is not a spot light but I didn't want a spot light. There is enough light pollution already. I wanted to light my flag so I could fly it 24/7. The flag is easily visible with this light but the light is not so strong that it lights up my yard (beach in my case). Others complain that the plastic over the cells turns white. As you can see in the photos, mine does also though it does not seem to affect the solar cells. I do clean them each fall when I bring it in. I use a cheap harbor freight bench buffer and the blue buffing compound to polish the plastic to near new condition. The second photo shows 2 of the 6 cells buffed and the first photo shows all 6 buffed and looking like new. After 3 years my light blew off in a gale. The topper apparently was not tight and came off leaving nothing to hold the light on. It crashed on a few rocks 25 feet below and is not repairable. However, the lights still work! Great product.

This light seemed to be very well made and the LEDs were very bright (much brighter and a lot nicer than the one I ended up with), but unfortunately I had to return it. I didn't read enough information about it, as it's designed for 15' to 30' poles that are planted in the ground. The pole I'm using is 6' and attached to the house and is 1" in diameter, and as such this light wouldn't fit on the pole.

This has been a great light for my flag pole. I purchased it in June of 2016 and it worked great. Over the winter it got water inside of the unit and several wire broke off and some rust. I CONTACTED THE SELLER THRU AMAZON AND THEY ADVISED THAT THEY STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND THAT THIS UNIT HAS A 1 YEAR WARRANTY AND THEY SEND ME A BRAND NEW REPLACEMENT. Now this is the type of seller that you want to do business with who stands behind their products. Will buy from them again.

This was easy to attach to my flagpole which collapses from about 21 ft down to about 6 ft. I used a wrench to loosen the nut holding the ball on the flagpole, slipped the ball with bolt through center of the light and reattached to the flagpole. The light lit immediately when i covered the solar cells to test the light. At night the light casts a glow over the top of the flagpole. This isn't like having a ground installed floodlight, but the low voltage light I had before at ground level got flooded with rain and no longer worked.

(Gave 4 stars) Nice and bright. I have not had any issues with mine, even in a hard rain. I do wish it had a wider light beam, but illuminates very well. ***UPDATE*** (Earned it's extra star) My last review of this light was short and to the point, now it is an all-out salute to this little device. I don’t give five star reviews that often (you must really be best-of-the-best), but this little gem has earned one. I initially bought one of these for the flag displayed in my yard, I have since moved to the next town over and did not take the pole or the light with me. I finally bought a home in an area where I could put up another flagpole and did so (bigger pole, bigger flag, the whole nine this time). I initially went with another brand of light, thinking "It is brighter and had decent review" so I put that one atop the pole. After a couple of months with the new light not lasting all night and fighting with different types og light to supplement the new "UFO" not going the distance, I decided to go with one I had tried before. I initially installed this light in the early afternoon, giving it only a half day to charge so my initial hopes were not high for the first night. As expected, when it got dark the light came on as it should (no real surprise there.) Much to my surprise however, when I got up the next morning (before sunrise) to get ready for work, the light was still on and not much dimmer than when it had turned on that night. This was especially surprising seeing the nights are getting longer the closer winter comes. This has been, by far, the best flagpole light I have ever used and, now that I have used two of them, I would recommend it to anyone. If in the event I ever need another one, I will be looking here again. FYI, when I drove by the place I used to live (It is not creepy or anything, I still hang out with friends in the old neighborhood), the old light, that I bought 3 years ago, is still sitting atop the old pole and still comes on at dark. Can't attest to if it stays on all night though as I don’t drive by my old house at all hours of the night (that WOULD be creepy).

This light is really bright and lights up my flag on a 20' flagpole beautifully. There was a problem with the first one, after heavy rains it filled with water and stopped working. I contacted customer service and they were great. They asked me to check the light and I did as it was filled with water it did short out and they immediately sent me a new unit. My only suggestion was drainage holes on the bottom and they said they were going to have their manufacturer add holes on the bottom. If you buy one open it up and drill a few holes, I drilled three 1/4" holes around the base. Time will tell if this works though it should and I would recommend this light for anyone.

This Gen 3 is slightly larger in diameter and illuminates my flag better than the Gen 2 did, and my Gen 2 was marvelous. I replaced my Gen 2 because the heavy oxidation caused by my eagle ornament prevented adequate charging for 11+ hours of lighting needed during the winter months. I've painted the ornament now and will monitor the condition of the charging panels, which I did not do with the Gen 2. I've re-purposed my Gen 2 into a gate light by placing it on a piece of rebar stuck into the fence post. During the post-Irma power outage our Sunnytech Gen 2 was the only exterior lighting we had. It lit up our house numbers so food delivery could find us in the dark! I'm sure that emergency responders could have found us if we'd needed them.

This item works really well, I would like to make you aware of a reality though. During the Pittsburgh Pa long dark winter nights and short overcast days, the photosensitive charging panels simply do not have enough time to properly charge the batteries enough to last all night. Remember, it is light out for maybe 8 hours, and this simply is not enough time. For a couple months, those deepest and darkest winter months, your going to have to accept that the LED lights will die in the morning before the sun rises. Okay, we got past that.... Now the product itself is built very well, the plastic housing feels very sturdy in your hands and is not something that feels thin and weak. I would honestly think that I could place it on my concrete walkway and step up onto it with no damage. During 9-10 months of the year, the light is provided all night long and still burning brightly in the morning when I leave for work at 0515. I have an American flag on top of my pole followed by a USMC flag. The USA flag is always well lit and easily discernible, the USMC flag catches patches of light as it passes the USA flag. I would like to actually see the design modified to allow a second row of LED bulbs out another 8-12 inches from the first circle of LED bulbs. This would help wash light over the second flag and offer more even distribution down the flag pole. Pros: Well built Lasts all night long most of the year. Provides good lighting for the top flag. Visually appealing design and construction Installs simply by unscrewing the top pole ornament and screwing the threaded rod back into the pole with the light sandwiched between the pole and the ornamental top. Cons: A couple months per year in the north-east winters it will not make it all night. Does not cast light down to a second flag as well as one would hope.
