The product is good, decent brass valve and all. I wasnt really able to tell from the ad if I could modify it for an old work application, and somebody answered that they did, so i bought it. I've included some pictures to hopefully illustrate that it was easily modified for an old work application. The only thing i would do differently is probably make extra sure that the hole I drilled inside the wall through the floor was dead center below the opening for the rough in. Also, the trim ring is nice and big, and the box is shallow enough to slide up inside a standard 2x4 wall, which allowed me to attach the pex while the valve was installed in the box.

Wanted to add an ice maker outlet box in my garage. " IF " you're cutting a hole in sheet rock, do this for a better fit. Trace inside square hole, remove sheet rock, place outlet box in hole, trace around 4 ears that protrude out from box to properly secure, cut them out. traced Two small pieces wood, ( I used OSB strips about 4" x 9" length ) place the wood in back of the sheet rock behind sheet rock and screw in securing the wood to sheet rock. place outlet box inside hold and ears will be against wood, not the sheet rock, allowing for a clean install. Not cutting out sheet rock for ears will cause the outlet box not to fit flush with sheet rock leaving 1/2" gap

Husband very happy

Easy to install & looks great!
