Great for the money!

I just received these today, and can say they're quite nice for the price :) VERY lightweight compared to the cheap aluminum hooks from Michaels. The handles are very soft and nice to hold in the hand, and there's plenty of room on the hook for working with yarn. The case is decent but would probably upgrade to something with more storage in the future, but overall I love the look and feel of this set! I would recommend this to anybody looking for an upgrade over the basic aluminum crochet hooks!

Crochet hooks

I was not there to open the box with my crochet hooks but my lovely husband was able to do a lovely product review over FaceTime for me. What I can said is it that I can already tell the I love the design of the case and that I am going to love the grips of these hooks! I like the price for what I bought as well! Does not look cheap and I can appreciate that! I can’t wait to get back to the states to start working with these lovely hooks and accessories!

Ergonomic tool that really works!

As an arthritis/carpal tunnel sufferer I have tried many "ergonomic" crochet products over the past several years...most did not live up to their claims. This one does! I've been using this set for just over a month now and have had no pain, no cramping, no discomfort in my hands, fingers or wrists. The soft grips are extremely comfortable. The hooks are nicely packaged with extra items anyone who crochet will find useful! Thank you for giving me my hobby back...it's my stress relief and now I can do it whenever I'm able without hurting myself.

Thanks to these hooks I can crochet again

Several years ago I had to give up crocheting due to arthritis in my hand, especially in the thumb and wrist area. I had tried a craft glove and wrist brace but didn't help. I missed it a lot but accepted the fact that I probably wouldn't be able to crochet again. We recently got a dog and I wanted to try making a sweater for him and I happened to see these hooks. I had given all my supplies away and I was tempted by this because everything I would need was in one handy case. And the fact that they were U. S. marked with letters was a plus as well I received them and couldn't wait to try them out. They are comfortable to hold, work very well and best of all, I could use them without my wrist and thumb aching after 5 minutes like before. I can't tell you how happy I am to be able to crochet again. The hooks are great and the grip is comfortable for me, but I must use common sense and not crochet for hours and a time like I used to. But between the hooks comfort for me and not overdoing it, I will be able to crochet again. And that is worth 5 stars if not more:)

I found that they made crocheting a much more fun, and calming experience

I purchased this crochet kit after much consideration because I've been teaching myself crochet over the past year or so. I have found that I cannot crochet very long with conventional hooks because my hands start cramping, so I had started looking into the ergonomic hooks at the store. After purchasing a couple, I found that they made crocheting a much more fun, and calming experience. So, as I got more into crochet, I wanted more ergonomic hooks, but they are very expensive when purchased individually. So, I started looking for a set, like you can find for conventional hooks, and found this set. After ordering, I have to say that I was impressed with the way that the seller (Athena's elements) sent me an email thanking me for the purchase, explaining shipping, and detailing how they are a small family run business and headed by a Navy Wife. I received another email after delivery of the product where the seller was checking in to see if the product was up to snuff and if it was what I had hoped for. I can say that this was the first time I have had such service through online purchasing. This set comes in a very nice, zippered portfolio. The hooks fit perfectly in their slots, and the mesh pouch inside for small pieces like stitch counters, measuring tape, yarn needles, etc detaches easily for quick use. The handles on the hooks are not quite as thick as the ones you find in the big box stores, but I have found very little difference in their grip. The hook themselves are deep and smooth, and i have not noticed any issues with shredding the yarn or having problems catching stitches. The whole package, when closed, fits easily into the inside pocket of my tote that i carry my Works in Progress when I am out and about. No more digging to the bottom of a tote bag for a hook, or scissors, or stitch markers. All in all, this makes for a very nice set, great for a gift for a beginning crocheter or someone looking to start getting the ergonomic hooks. I do wish that it came in different colors or patterns; just because my pre-teen wants to have her own set, and it would help identify them quickly in the house,and pink is not my color, but this is pretty. The ergonomic handles don't get that sticky/tacky feeling that some of the other materials of this kind can have after being held in the hand for an extended period of time. I am not sure about durability at this time, as I have only possessed this set for less than a month, but so far it all seems well made for the use it will be getting.

LOVE these hooks. I've wanted soft grip hooks for arthritis for quite a while, but did not want to spend over 20.00 for a complete set. After researching and reading reviews, I decided on these. I can't believe they even got any negative reviews! I'm glad I took a chance and went with these. I did NOT find any problems with these. Other reviewers have suggested the metal hook did not line up with the rubber gripper in the right place, NOT TRUE. They feel really good in your hand and very comfortable. ALSO I'm SO glad I went with Athenas Elements! For a small business, they really stand by their product want want you to be happy with your purchase. I received 2-3 emails from them wanting to know if I received my hooks and wanting to know if I was satisfied! ALSO if I had ANY problems or was unhappy with anything they gave me info on how to contact them. SO nice to get a product from a company that WANTS your satisfaction and business!

Hi, I just received my hooks and case with all it's goodies today, and I'm so very happy and excited! I haven't tried them yet, but it came with so many additional tools I hadn't expected. I was in a rush to buy some ergonomic hooks for my severely crippled, arthritic hands, so when I saw these, I grabbed them. When I opened them, I realized there were 2 additional larger hooks included, and so many tools and things I didn't even know would be in there! AND, one of the best parts is finding out they're done by military spouses! I'm so glad to support them, and I'm very grateful for their and their spouses' service! THANK YOU and GOD BLESS YOU ALL! This was my Christmas gift to myself; you've made it so very extra special! :D

All you need in one place

The first thing I noticed when browsing looking for a new case and set of hooks was that the crochet hooks were in American sizes. When I got the case and was looking it over the lettering on the hooks is large easy to see and read. I looking insude the pouch and I was surprised at all the goodies inside everything you need in one place for your crochet work very nice case. Of course I had to take them for a spin I have a baby blanket to make before May. I wasn't sure how I would like the handles I've always bought the all metal hooks. Well I must have crocheted 2 hours or more their very comfortable to use no finger cramping at all. I dont have arthritic hands but I bet these would be a dream for someone who does can't say enough about them glad I purchaced them.

Comfortable to use

I've used metal crochet hooks for years. As I tend to crochet tightly – I’m still trying to loosen up my tension – my hands and the muscles in my forearms ache after a crochet session. I’ve just begun working on a sweater and the notion of using hooks with a longer shaft intrigued me. These new hooks arrived and what I really have come to appreciate is the softer grip (silicone/plastic/rubber??). After 5-6 rows I can already tell that the making of this sweater will be a more comfortable experience. The main reason I chose this set rather than some of the others on the market is that each of these hooks have both the letter and the millimeter values imprinted on the hook. That means I don’t have to find my chart to tell me what millimeter value equals the letter hook that I need to use. The metal piece of the hook is smooth so my yarn doesn’t catch or snag. The zippered case is convenient and comes with items I already own but extras are always handy. If you are just starting out and have almost nothing then this would be the set for you as you get hooks, yarn snip/clipper, a tape measure, stitch markers, a row counter, six needles for sewing your pieces together, and a large safety pin thingy which I suppose can be used to hold or off-load any number of stitches (for doing cable work?). I’ve never worked a pattern which called for one of these items so I don’t really know. What I do know is that I’m happy with my purchase.

PAIN FREE HANDS, great customer service, LOVE the Kit

I've been using the hooks far a few months and I like them a lot. I also purchased the B1 & C2 hooks, that didn't come with the kit, directly from Athena Elements. They were GREAT at communicating with me and sending the hooks right away. A minor comment is e that I expected all the hooks to have the same grip size. The point of the rubber is to make it easier on the hand. When I used the smaller hook on your set, I noticed the grip was smaller and my hand gets tired faster than with the bigger size hook. but OVERALL, GREAT! . I'm enjoying the hooks and that's why I bought the other two. I love that the kit has the markers and the needles. I didn't have to go and buy them. I'm using them already. The scissors are not that good to be honest. But I do have a pair of scissors at home anyway. Thank you so much for this affordable kit that helps my hands to stay pain free The price of the set was great and everything is well organized and together. One more suggestion, I think it'd be great to get all 12 hooks in the case instead of 10. I think there is room for two more hooks. Maybe adding two spaces in the center or even moving the scissors horizontally and adding one more space ... I would expect the price to go up since there would be two more hooks but having the entire set would be worth it. I hope I didn't offend you with my comments,I'm honestly enjoying the hooks kit. Thank you and looking forward to getting the other two hooks.
