• Continuous Cast Iron Grates
  • Express-Select Control Knobs
  • 450 to 18,000-BTU Center Burner

If you like to cook, it is worth spending a few hundred more to get this bigger BTU burner. This center burner will bring a pot of water to a full boil in minutes or we used it as a wok burner with great results. Amazing...yeah it is an overused word today, but fits this description. We bought this cook top to replace a 20+ year old black gas on glass cook top with 5 individual burners that bite the dust. Debated whether to go with the stainless or black finish. Stayed with the black and we decided it "hides cooking messes between clean ups better than the stainless version. The control knobs are plastic, not metal as somebody review had said. They work fine, easy to use and are right where I want them to be when cooking. We never had any Frigidaire control knob break, but we are not concerned as replacements if ever needed are easy to buy on Amazon or E bay. We LOVE the full metal grates. They are heavy due to their size but nice to slide pans across the stove top or set pans aside of the burner while cooking. Also the full grads are nice as you can set a plate/serving dish on them if needed or staging something to put in the overhead microwave. One note I have to make is the top of the cook top grates are 2-1/4" higher than the counter it sits on. I missed checking on this dimension and had a concern when installing it as we had the recommended 18" clearance between our kitchen counter and the bottom of the kitchen cabinets. Now we have 15-3/4" clearance between the top of the grates and the bottom of the cabinets. My concern was did we have enough space for cooking and have the over the counter microwave fan function correctly? After using the cook top for 2+ weeks with a large 10 qt pot we have had no clearance or ventilating problems. We have always found Frigidaire appliances to be a good value, have a lot of useful features and they have held up as well as any of the other major name brands. We buy/sell houses for 30 years and usually install Frigidaire appliances if needed. None of our tenants or house buyers have ever complained about the appliances or reported they needed repairs.

The new house we bought had a ceramic electric cook top that I knew I wanted to replace. Amazon had this in stock where my local dealers did not. Love the design of the grates and the fact they are dishwasher safe. The base of the cooktop is easy to clean. I find I use the 18K burner the most--either with my cast iron skillet or my wok. It was easy to install. We did have to modify the drawer underneath the cooktop to accomodate for the gas hook up, but we'd had to modify a previous installation of a different brand at our old house, so not an issue.

Great looking stovetop. We needed the LPG nozzles, (supplied) for an easy conversion. I always do my own home improvements, this was a low difficulty install.
