Using to mix hydroponic nutrients in water. Good value for features, comes with Ph reference powder but will need more, small sugar size packets (6) included. Batteries were added to package, was a little strange, but got some extra (4 batteries) in the package for some reason.

I have a lot (and I mean a LOT) of experience testing water. Between years of pool ownership and decades of owning fresh and saltwater aquariums, I've done on the order of hundreds of thousands of water tests on more parameters than I care to list here. I've used strips, titration tests, probes, meters...you name it, I've done it. I received this meter and read through the instructions very quickly. I don't know why someone said the manual is not easy to read but...Look at the grammar in that review and I think all of your questions on that will be laid to rest. It was very simple to read, and follow and I was able to finish the calibration within minutes. Please make sure you use the recommended amount of water because when it comes to testing things like pH, you're testing on a logarithmic scale...meaning each whole-number change in value is 10 times more or less acidic...i.e. pH of 8 is 10 times more basic than pH of 7 and 9 is 100 times more than 7, etc...Sooooo...if your calibration is off because you skimped on the water, your readings will be off. Once the calibration was finished, I set to testing the water in my marine aquarium, verified by another electronic meter AND a titration test. This meter proved to be highly accurate in both pH and temperature (which is important because temp effects pH). Be patient with it, though...don't just did it, look at the number and call it a day...you need to leave the meter in the water until the numbers stop changing for several seconds...kind of like making microwave popcorn...you know when it's done because the pops get infrequent. This is the same way you use a meter. And it is a lot faster than strips or titration. I would certainly recommend this for anyone who needs pH testing done on any water source.

This has been the best PH meter I have used yet. Over the years I have tested a number of different meters: 5/5 Dr.Meter ~ Very accurate, holds calibration, easy to calibrate, temperature compensated, waterproof, works like a charm!! 4.5/5 Oakton EcoTesr ~ comes in second not quite as accurate as the Dr.Meter 3/5 Hanna Instruments HI98103 ~ convenient calibration with screw, not waterproof, doesn't temp compensate so not as accurate. 2/5 HealthyWiser Digital pH Meter ~ cheap, but inconsistent reading, not temp compensated, big pain to calibrate 1/5 Hanna Combo pH/EC/TDS/C/PPM Tester HI98129 ~ not happy with my experience with this, loses calibration quickly, stopped working. Seller (Hisgadget) gets top score for customer service, they went above and beyond to help me when I broke the tip (tips break easily on most pens, i broke the Oakton int the same way)

Meter is very accurate, with easy to read display. Supplied with calibration solutions , enough for two calibrations. Extra battery’s. Tough storage case with cradle for meter. Meter calibration is simple and easy. The more this meter is used the faster it becomes at displaying the reading. It does however take some ( boringly) time to “settle” in to a reading if it’s not used often. Great meter case xtra batts xtra calibration solution. It’s really a no brainer

I bought this ph meter for indoor hydroponics. Calibration was simple and straight forward. The meter was easy to use and seemed accurate and consistent. Much better than the cheap $10 meters. I ended up breaking the glass electrode 2 months after purchase... (the probe is nicely protected but i still managed to smack it against a hard surface) I emailed the manufacturer looking to purchase a replacement electrode. They answer quickly and said they can't supply a replacement part but would like to send me a brand new replacement meter, for free, no questions asked. (just needed the original order number) Now that is great customer service. I'll look into dr.meter for any future needs before i go elsewhere.

After using this product I can say that it is in fact very accurate. Having owned a previous Fluke laser thermometer that was around $90, I was very surprised by how well this worked considering the price. Overall, I would say that it worked better if not as well as the older one that I have. I tested out its accuracy by comparing the two and the temperature readings were always within 0.3 degrees of each other. I'll talk about some of the pros and cons of the thermometer below. Pros - Ability to read the max, min, average, and store up to twenty different readings - Able to calculate differences between the previous reading - Come with a 9 volt battery (saves me a trip to the store) - Includes a nice black case to keep the thermometer on your belt buckle Cons - Isn't water proof. I don't think this is a huge con, but my old one was supposedly waterproof. I don't see many people needing it to be, but I just thought it should be mentioned. Overall this is a very well made product and I would recommend it to anyone that is looking to buy one. It starts at a great price and you know that the readings are as accurate compared to the more expensive ones on the market.

I would have given five stars but the temp setting would not change from c to f, but as far as PH goes it was great for one second, one calibration. I will use my finger to test water temps for my green babies, however the temps in Fahrenheit would have been nice. It tested right the first time with General Hydroponics 7.0 and off with the rest. The meter took a fast down turn and would not drop when adding PH down, it is going back and I've resorted to the old $13 one that I saved. I may give another one a chance, but too much riding on plants to play low quality games, maybe it was a bad apple in the bottom of the barrel, damn! I will start a new from fresh since they sent me a new one. The new one was just opened and was dried out with crystals on the bulb, I washed with distilled water and bought probe solution that it is soaking in as I type. I will rinse with distilled water, blow dry with my mouth and use probe solution in cap, every time! Well, that is if it calibrates properly this time. If this one does not stay stable or work right, it will be no fault of my own. I think/hope it will be a good one, I'm giving it a second chance even though the first one caused mass damage to my grow. I will update again on the new one as I have the last one, seems to have big potential but the next update will tell ''A Tale of Two Meters.'' LOL!

This product is beyond my expectations after the poor experience of trying to purchase one of those 4 in 1 stick PH meters. I ordered the stick PH meter first only to find out after I hit purchase that it was a drop shipment and it would take 3 weeks for delivery. The listing on Amazon stated shipment within 2 days, but nothing about 3 weeks. The package arrived in a plastic garbage bag shipped from China, it wasn't even padded or wrapped in bubble wrap. The package was crushed and mind you, it has a long thin probe. Three days ago, I ordered this meter and both meters arrived today. One crushed in a plastic garbage bag shipped from China and one shipped by Amazon in box designed for shipping. Now for the product review. This meter not only came in a shipping box, it came with a sturdy and secure storage case. I mention the sturdy case because the meter is secured in brackets inside the case, so it's not rattling around in the case (rattling not good for sensitive lab equipment). It came with the correct batteries. You know the kind of batteries that the average person would not have in the kitchen drawer (meaning take a trip to wally world). It takes 4 button style batteries and it even came with an extra package of 4. Meaning, I could use it right then and there. Unlike the meter placed on a slow boat from China in a garbage bag. I inserted the batteries, calibrated it and finished a project that should have been done two weeks ago. The only criticism, if your not familiar with this type of lab equipment and must use the instructions, be prepared to read the instructions several times. The product is made in China and the instructions are written in English. But the Chinese don't think like Americans and reading American Chinese is yet another language we are forced to learn. I can't wait to be able to buy American products again made by Americans with instructions written in American English. All that aside, this meter is a good buy. Leave the stick meters in the garbage bag where they belong. Please pardon my rant. To make up for it, for those who need a soil tester and are just as frustrated with the stick meters, here is how you use this meter to test your soil. Simply add your soil and equal amount of distilled water above and beyond what gets soaked up into a glass jar and shake it thoroughly. Let it sit for about thirty minutes and shake the extract again. Pour the liquid (extract) into another glass jar and test with this meter. Yes, it takes longer, but if you want an accurate PH reading, this is the EPA method ( I read that somewhere). One last tid bit. Beware, now that every big box outlet is allowing drop shippers. If you need to return your purchase, they won't offer you the prepaid return sticker. And often the return shipping to China cost more than the purchase price. I learned my costly lesson, if not shipped directly by the big box, I ain't buying it.

I've been using this for over a year reliably. Replaced the batteries one time. Dropped it in the water many times and it keeps working. I saved the calibration fluid in mason jars and have been re-using them for over a year. I see a lot of negative reviews by people who don't understand that this is a temperature-calibrated pH meter and so it takes some time for the probe to reach equilibrium temperature with the solution. Yes, you may have to wait 5 min to get an accurate reading if you take it out of the fridge and put it into hot water and you will not have to wait more than a few seconds if your probe is at room temp and so is your solution. You also have to treat it like a scientific instrument because it is a scientific instrument. It requires that the tip stay moist so just do it. Make sure the probe is touching the sponge and the sponge is wet. You will also need to clean it periodically. I use alcohol when it gets gummed up and then I recalibrate. If your batteries are dead or dying it will become inaccurate. I gave it 5 stars because it's the same as those $200 meters at the hydro shops but for $50.

I have written to the support team as my PH-100 did not work at the beginning. Today I am very happy that I learned how to calibrate it and the machine works as expected. Besides that, I need to say that Dr. Meter customer service is simply THE BEST, such professionally trained personnel, in special Amy, what a great professional and person. Thank you dr. Meter for the great support and product. Thank Emily. Another happy customer Thank you LCL
