Two things I didn't like. First
I give this 5 stars for the coolness factor. Two things I didn't like. First, while initially unwrapping, many of the strings for the parafoil were tangled. I think they could have done a better job packaging these. Second, these strings (maybe 24) all come together in three bunches, which are tied in one knot. There is no fixture to attach a snap swivel to. Initially, I clipped it around one of the three bunches of strings, and the kite kept crashing to a side. I figured out it had to be more balanced, and stuck the snap swivel through the middle of the knot. I think it should of had a ring to clip onto. After I got it in the air, way too cool!

absolutely magnificent
This kite is incredible. my son had it 250ft + in the air over Gold Beach, OR... so beautiful and huge. He had a lot of onlookers/tourists clapping. When the line (separate purchased item) broke, the kite flew out over the ocean, I ran out into the water and got it. I saw it hovering over a Sea Lion, who must have been thinking "What is that?" before it disappeared. Luckily I recovered the kite and we will re-launch it when we get stronger line. Just awesome!

Awesome kite!
I bought this kite sight unseen and just tried it out last night. I thought it would be hard to get it into the air, but the dual layers actually helped the wind catch it and send it straight up. I didn't have to run to get the kite airborne. It's a lot of fun to fly and just to watch in the sky. Definitely worth the money and it is well made! It is big, so prepare for some work reeling it back in! :)

Absolutely great kite. Its large but packs small
Absolutely great kite. Its large but packs small, I couldn't get it back in the bag as tight as it was from the factory. It flys and looks great. It needs a pretty good wind to launch it. It sure turns heads. It dramatically flows and weaves across the sky with its air filled tube tails. I flew it for the first time at the Banner Elk Kite Festival in North Carolina today as a matter of fact. Update....I now own two of these, both black. I bought the second one to replace one I stuck in the top of a 70 foot live oak tree in Florida. It was stuck up there for almost two weeks during heavy wind and rain. It was rescued by a tree service bucket crew. The kite had minor damage that I sewed up, removed all the caterpillars cocoons out of it, made repairs to some of the strings and now it flies again!

Easy Flying Monstrous Kite
A MASSIVE octopus that pretty much flies itself! Who wouldn't love this? My wife bought this kite for our vacation to the beaches of Oregon. I was pretty skeptical at first and questioned the initial purchase price. However, that all changed once we got this behemoth off the ground. While it looks intimidating to first setup, it was actually very easy and straight forward. A simple tug on the line and this baby was immediately airborne. Pretty quickly I had rolled out nearly 1000' of kite string and had this cephalopod soaring above the beach. It takes little to no effort to control. Hold the line and that's pretty much it. This kite is also a head turner and we had many people snapping pictures and in awe of such a monstrous eight-armed mollusc flying overhead!

Huge frickin octupus
This thing is awesome. Like something from a science fiction movie. It's a real head turner as it's getting airborne. A blast to fly, and a ton of fun.

Seasoned Flyer or Newbie, this Kite is a Great Choice!
This was my first kite and what a great choice! Very easy to fly. Flys well in winds 5-10 mph and up. Not like other octopus kites with ribbons for tentacles. This has 8 hollow tentacles that fill with air and undulate much like a real octopus. Very durable - my swivel snap separated with the kite at about 350 ft. It landed in a tree tangled but low enough to grap a couple of tentacles. Using those tentacles, I was able to pull the kite down through the tree. No rips, tears or any damage at all. Reattached the line and flew the remainder of the day in 15 mph winds. Very dramatic in the air but cute enough to not scare the little ones.

HUGE and awesome!!!
This is a great kite right out of the bag. YOU WILL NEED HEAVIER LINE!!! The line that comes with it might be good for a small kite, but not this one. This kite handles very well and is stable. It does tent to swim bit a low altitude, but once you get into some clean air (+100') ti calms right down. you don't have to make any adjustments on the shroud/ bridle lines just tighten the knots. If you are worried about it, dip the knot in nail polish and it will be fine. I used a 100lbs test line and it was fine. i screwed an anchor into the beach, tied it off and just watched it. The tentacles don't wiggle as much as I would have liked. But, people that pass by still say;" whoa ! cool!!"
