the cats love these things. So does the 2 year old. Jumping on them will cause the cardboard to break. If they're broken, the cats will still use them. A 22lb child reclining on them will cause the cardboard to break. The cats will still use them. Easy to put together, and move where ever you need it to encourage your frisky kitty to stop scratching. For example, if the beast is scratching at the corner of your kitchen where the reflection of the sun hitting the glass happens to fall at 2:30pm everyday, place one of these there. The cat will now scratch the hammock scratcher.

Great scratchers for small cats or kittens

These are great for small cats and kittens. I have a petite cat (around 8 pounds) and she LOVES these scratchers. She lays on them just like the picture and she loves to run up and have a good scratch and leap off and keep going. They tip occasionally but I just pick them back up. I keep one against a wall which helps and the other is free standing and tends to tips more often but still not enough to bother me. We have ordered from this seller twice and was very satisfied. They last a long time - we had one for 4 months until my 3 yo tried to use it as a step stool (they can't hold 40 pounds). Overall, very happy and will keep buying these. On a side note - the one that broke we salvaged the unbroken half by just setting it down on the floor and she still likes using it that way.

A must have!

Purchased two for my furr baby. He loved the big boxes they came in, the packaging paper and the actual scratcher! He jumped out of the box to enjoy his new gifts. If your cat loves scratching, this is the way to go. He scratched every side of it within the first 10 minutes. I would recommend getting two so that your cat can comfortably stretch out!

I've bought this product two or threes times over the past few years and on continues to be a favorite of my two cats! The design is easy to put together and generally withstands a bit of rough handling (and by rough handling I mean being knocked over, run over, pounced upon, scratched nearly to the point of death, and generally being mauled and loved by crazy cats). My most recent purchase of this product broke, but is still usable by the cats. One of the two halves that you slide together buckled when my cat jumped on it after I inboxed and assembled it. It still remains standing but it gives a little more than usual. My cats don't seem to mind at all and still love it, which means I still love it! My cats are 11lbs and 13lbs for reference.

Cheap enough for my cats to hate it and still feel satisfied with my purchase. Should make excellent kindling for our first summer bonfire. Update: Man do I have to eat my words! My two fat cats fight over who gets to sit on this contraption. They lounge, they scratch, and they rub their cute furry faces on the corners. It is holding up just fine. My less fat cat has figured out how to push it all over the house for a more favorable seat. It's fun to find out where it turns up. What a fun product!

Received wrong item. Ordered Hammock, received Scratching Tunnel.

Ordered the PetStages Invironment Easy Life Hammock, but instead received PetStages Fold Away Scratching Tunnel. I'd never seen/heard of this product before. In my twenty years of ordering from Amazon, I've never had a product swapped for another. My cats had received the Hammock for Christmas, and it was evident that a second one was required. So, lots of praise for the Hammock item (not sure where Grandma got it). Only one of my three cats likes the Scratching Tunnel, so I'd definitely point cat owners toward the Hammock. And for those of you who think I'm a crazy cat lady who can't order properly, please note that while I am a crazy cat lady, I'm "verified" as ordering the Hammock.

My giant cat's favorite thing to scratch.

My 20lb Main Coon loves these. He recently scratched his way through his third one (2 old style and 1 new style). It does take him 6-8 months to completely demolish one. Also, there's no difference between the new and old models except for the colors of the borders. He does move them and knock them over occasionally when scratching the bottom "legs" while standing on the floor, but they have never collapsed due to his weight or size. See pics.

Cat Hammock Scratcher is a must have for cats

Our cats absolutely love these 'X chairs' as we call them. The minute we set them up, the cats are on them. We now have 5 throughout our home. Occasionally we sprinkle catnip on them, but the cats use the chairs with and without the catnip. Great product! We think the cats enjoy them because the corrugated cardboard allows air to flow around the cat, but not too much as to make the cat cold. Whatever the reason, our two cats definitely lying around and scratching around in their kitty 'X chairs'! (Be sure to buy more than one if you have more than one cat, too. Our cats fought over the first one; hence, the other four. Lol!) Great product!

My cats love it!

My cats love it! When I purchased it, it was under $10. I will be keeping an eye out for that price again. We have many cat scratchers around the house, and this is their favorite. The two (12 lbs) cats play and fight on this thing. I do wish it had held up a bit better, but what can I expect with the rough play of two heavy cats. The attached picture is after 3 weeks of use.
