If you want to use this with Smartthings, WITHOUT an Almond router, you're in luck. Go through the normal pairing process (i.e. open ST app, click add device, plug in the Peanut and press its button, select it in ST when it appears.) It will initially show as simply a "Thing" in Smartthings. Visit (https://) graph api smartthings com (add periods in place of spaces and remove parentheses from http://. Amazon doesn't allow you to post urls in reviews) Login using the same credentials you use for the app. Click "My Locations." Click "Devices." Click the device called Thing (the one you're trying to set up). Click Edit at the bottom. Change the name to Outlet. Select "Zigbee Switch" from drop down list under Type. Click Update. Ensure that the changes have been applied in the Smartthings app. You should be good to go. After following these steps, mine works great. I hope it goes the same for you, too.

Purchased a handful of these along with the Echo Plus. I can confirm that they were immediately discovered by the Echo Plus during set up and therefore no need to buy any additional hubs or routers. The plug itself is a little bulky but I can still access the outlet on the bottom if I place the smart plug in the top outlet. It has a manual on/off button in case you need it, and a reset button. I use them to control a lamp, a humidifier and an electric kettle. I'm so glad I got these.

The peanut plug adapters are awesome, simple devices able to turn devices on and off using the almond (not sure what else it works with), with the added benefit of being able to monitor power usage. I have a setup where there's a thermostat underneath a cottage in Michigan. Through the winter, we keep the heat on low, but we need to make sure the temp doesn't drop under 40 beneath the place or the water pipes could freeze. When the temp hits 40, the almond uses the peanut plug to switch on a ceramic heater near the outside wall pipes. Because the peanut reports wattage as well, I can see that, not only is the heater on, but it's using the amount of power I expect it to use. When it gets back up to 45, it switches off. Meanwhile, in my own living room, I have a lamp that turns on at local sundown and off at 11:30pm. Having the ability to automate this stuff is really nice.

I was a little sceptical at first as I have owned other smart plugs, but needed to be extra smart to firstly set them up, then work out how to get them to do what I want them to do. It arrived in a small unassuming box and I thought, Oh no...but, I plugged it in to the socket, started up the set up and it was so easy through the Almond, I could not believe it! I managed to set up times for switching on my lights and turning them off at night, its great, I now have my lamps coming on when I want them to and then turning off at different times when each one of us tends to go to bed. My husband stays up late, so he has a Peanut with lamp in his study. I have one in our lounge and one is going to be in the Master! The next stage was to try linking it with Alexa...OMG, you simply open up the Alexa app, search under Smart Home Settings for the Almond and the next part was so easy. I now just have to say the magic word, Alexa, turn my lounge light on, she does it within a second and replies 'Okay" I know, the 'Okay" part is a little boring, but at least she responds with an answer. I now have two of these and will buy more, I love the ease of setting up and that they do want I want them to do. I can imagine that my house will be full of little Peanuts soon, if I can just persuade my husband to buy a few more! Great device and at an amazing price.

I wasn't quite sure if these would work with my Samsung SmartThings hub or not and I did not know what Almond+ was. I was skeptical that they would even work, but to my surprise I was able to link to my hub and then to amazon Alexa. SmartThings found them in under 2 minutes and I assigned the devices from My home to the designated room. Set up was so easy and I was very pleased with the product. I now have them automated to switch on/off my fish tank lights on a routine and couldn't be more pleased, the ease of setup is my reason I gave these a 5 star rating. Do not require Almond+ or Almond 2015 but a hub is required. I hope anyone reading this finds this helpfull if using the same system.

I bought this solely to use as a Zigbee repeater to increase coverage for other Zigbee devices with SmartThings. Adding this plug cleared up all issues I had with my Zigbee devices losing connection to the hub. Everything has been rock solid since adding the Peanut!

These work with Samsung smartthings but you have to set them as a zigbee device in the smartthings IDE website. Doing this is not a big deal. I don't care about energy monitoring so I did not try to get that feature working only the on/off switching. Smartthings may not have the correct state on/off synced to start with but turning it on off from the phone and the plug itself a few times resolves that quickly. purchased them for $10 each, great deal. Also since they are a zigbee device not a wifi they have local execution which means quicker response, no 3rd party app/website, and no internet needed. 1/11/2019: I have had zero issues with them pairing. I have had zero failures of these plugs. I have owned 7 of these for about two months. Will update with any failures.

The plug came with instructions for connecting to an Almond hub. However, I just wanted to connect it to my existing Echo Plus. I was unable to find any instructions for connecting directly do the Echo Plus. All the instructions I could find wanted to use other apps, such as Smart Things or Smart Life. Now that I know the plug works directly with my Echo Plus I will be ordering several more! Here's what worked for me: 1) Plug the Peanut smart plug into the wall and hold the on/off button until it flashes red and green. 2) Open the Amazon Alexa app and go to Settings, then Device Settings. 3) Click on the + in the upper right corner, then Add Device. 4) Under All Devices, choose Plug. 5) Under Brand, choose Other. 6) Click on Discover Devices. 7) It takes about 45 seconds and then it says ready to use. I then went to Device Settings in the Alexa app anc chose All Devices and First Plug (that was the default name) and changed it to Bedroom Light since that is where I'm using it. It all works great!

I bought a bunch of these for use with my Samsung Smartthings hub, knowing that they need a little manipulation to work. The pair very easily, but - as others have already said - it's detected as a 'thing', so you need to sign in to the IDE and change the type for each Peanut to a Zigbee Switch. From there, they're perfect and fast. Love them. At this price, about the only other product is the Ikea Tradfri outlets, that don't have a power switch on the side and are of questionable quality. These are well built, and compact. Will definitely buy more later. Also of note is that while these support power monitoring when used with Almond, you can NOT access this data with Smartthings, as the Peanuts default firmware doesn't have this feature enabled. It's enabled with the Almond hub only. Still a great deal.

1. Plug Peanut into an outlet. 2. Within ST app, add new device. By default it will show up as a 'Thing'. (Feel free to rename it). 3. Once added, log in to the ST Integrated Development Environment from a computer (search for Smartthings IDE) 4. Log in using your Samsung or ST account 5. Go to Locations 6. Click on the name of your Hub 7. Click on List Devices 8. Scroll down and click on your newly added Peanut outlet (based on what you renamed it in step 2) 9. Click Edit 10. If needed, rename the Label 11. Change 'Type' to 'ZigBee Switch' 12. Change the 'Group' if needed 13. Click Update 14. Back on your phone in the ST app, refresh page and test your outlet You should now see that your outlet has an on/off switch (see photo) Overall I am happy with this outlet once it's set up, especially the cost as compared to others. Even works with Google Assistant and Home hubs via the ST integration if you've already have them connected.
