Sturdy Smooth Easy to use

Works beautifully! I thought I would have a difficult time with it but it was very easy to set up and very easy to use! Very smooth operation and not clanky noisy. Saves so much time and really works good when frogging a project too! Love it! Glad I took a chance!

Assembly instructions could have been clearer, but they still worked when i discovered the only right way of putting parts together. the ball winder works exactly as represented. My project required two strings of light weight yarn to be balanced against on string of heavier weight yarn. Using a swift with the winder made the job of forming balls much, much easier than if I had done it by hand without the equipment. I recommend both items to anyone who has large skeins (mine were 465 yards per skein) to turn into balls.

Easy to use

Very easy to use and works wonderfully well. I have a "knitting group" at my home and we've been catching up on winding our yarn!

A quiet jumbo winder.

I wanted a jumbo yarn winder that was quieter than the jumbo Stanwood winder I already own. Took my time assemblying with the screws and little wrench. This winder, like most winders and swifts, needs a straight cut edge to attach securely to a table. (Most tables have a rounded edge). A small piece of thin rubber shelf liner also help secure it to the table and keeps it from slipping. I keep this winder (and a swift) permanently mounted to a tv tray table so it is always ready to use. Use just one spinning arm, not both. The winder works well and is much quieter than my Stanwood winder.

I love my yarn winder. The only issue I had was the assembly instructions that came with it were lacking. Luckily because this winder is exactly like so many other (more expensive versions), you can watch a Youtube video to learn how to put it together. I promise you it is the exact same thing but this vendor has its winder for a reasonable price. Even with plastic parts, this is a fantastic starter winder for those who haven't purchased or used one before and I expect mine to last a long time.

Absolutely awesome

I absolutely love this winder. It was very easy to assemble. Good instructions and very well made. I was presently surprised at how large of a yarn cake you can make. I have a ton of Caron one pound yarn that sells at a great price but a pain to store. Iโ€™m in the process of making cakes for easy storage. Iโ€™m getting 3 cakes per pound if that helps anyone who is looking to purchase this. It is well made, super fast (can wind a pound in about 4-5 minutes) very easy.

Fun to use and only took a few minutes to assemble!

I had no problem putting this together. It only took a few minutes to get it together and I had so much fun using it. I love that this winder can hold larger skeins. I was looking at purchasing one twice this price. I am so glad I was able to save money and still get a great product. I highly recommend this to anyone who has tubs of yarn and wants to find a way to organize it better. These yarn cakes stack better, and when stored in tubs, and keep the yarn from getting tangled.I have included some photos of how the pieces go together if it will help someone with the directions.

I love this winder!

This winder works so well!! It took me a little bit to figure out how to put it together, hubby had to help. But, we figured it out. The diagram was pretty much worthless as far as instructions. I have wound light and thin yarn to heavy and thick yarn. It does wind a full 7 oz of yarn and I am pretty sure it would wind more. I just haven't tried yet. A bit of a tip is that the clamp is not made well, so I put a small square of the gripper shelf liner under it and under the winder body itself that goes on the table and I have no issues with it slipping or moving. All in all I love this winder. It is fun and quick to use.

Tidy bundles of yarn

I have used the ball winder to create "pull skeins" from bits of rolled up yarn. The winder makes tidy bundles of yarn that fit neatly in my cupboard.

it works like a dream

It did take a few minutes to figure out how to put it together, but it's do-able. Once together, it works like a dream. I had previously ordered a smaller size that is supposed to support a 4oz ball of yarn. It was too small, which is why I ordered this one. The previous one kept overflowing and my yarn would get stuck in the gears. No such problem with this one. I've wound a ball that was a chunky size yarn from a fingering weight yarn, and it worked well for both sizes and everything in between. Also, the arm or yarn guide doesn't keep falling down, so that's nice. The small version yarn guide/arm kept falling over, even after I pulled it out the inch or so it directs you to. Definitely this is the most functional winder I've come across!
