My Sony CD/Radio was on my steps in two days, great service. This is the percect item for what I wanted. The radio has wonderful sound and is almost always on! The CD Player has great base and I can crank it during the day when no one is around. This is a basic model which is perfect for my experience, I did not want a ton of features that I would not use. The price was exactly what my budget allowed for. Great purchase for a reasonable price.

The CD cleaning kit with instructions really helps in keeping the CD playback reliable. Other portable CD players have failed when I get problems with skipping or the CD's not playing. The others didn't explain much about how CDs should be cleaned and inspected to prevent skipping. After months of moderate usage the Sony CFD-S70 CD Radio-Cassette-[re]corder works as good as new. Some have complained about sound quality, but I think the speaker size is kept somewhat small so the wattage is minimized to enable longer battery life. I think the sound quality is very good considering that it's a portable system that can run on batteries.

For the price, I was surprised at the sound quality. Very happy with purchase.

Unfortunately I have quite a collection of cassette tapes, so that was a priority when I was searching for a replacement sound system priced more reasonably than a Bose. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the sound. I'm no expert, but to me, the sound on the Sony is outstanding. There are a lot of features I still haven't explored-- but I especially like the Preset radio stations feature and the remote. The unit itself is very handsome and looks quite nice in my spare bedroom/computer room. Not at all like a garish "boom box." The Xtech CD lens Cleaner was a nice extra but I haven't used it yet. For the money, I don't think you can go wrong with this item.

I bought this because it's actually hard to find a good-quality cassette player with a headphone jack. This one is one of the nicer ones I've ever purchased, but there are a few nitpicky things to be aware of. First of all the cassette door is a solid piece of black plastic, meaning you can't actually see the tape moving when you're rewinding or fast-forwarding, so you have to guess at how far the tape has moved. Secondly, cassettes are inserted "upside-down" from old-school boom boxes, meaning you put the tape in with the top edge facing down, tape edge facing up. Which is fine, except that this means the tape travels in the opposite direction from what you might be used to, meaning the left << button is actually the Fast-Forward button, and the right >> button is the Rewind button. And the buttons aren't labeled, so you constantly have to remind yourself the symbols are backwards on this player because the tape is upside-down. Other than that, this is an awesome player. The other buttons (volume etc) are nice and soft to the touch, not as hard and clunky as other players. I expect the CD component is great too, but haven't tried it yet.

My husband loves it, he wanted it for the patio and that is where he uses it and he gives it a big thumbs up. he has had different ones but he really likes this one, the quality of the radio was far more than he expected. the radio looks and plays great the sound is very good, My husband likes everything about the radio

This radio/cd/cassette player performs very well. Sound is as good as a home system. Reception of radio from the mountains, great. Lives up to other reviews given. Highly recommend this item!

About 20 years ago I had an earlier version of this Sony which continues to perform beautifully in someone else's household now. Happy to report that this Sony newer model (CFD-S70), just delivered most promptly, is performing equally as well in ways that are important to me: sound quality of cd/cassette players, good am/fm reception, recording capabilities of cassette unit. So far so good for me and this new Sony as to certain customer dissatisfactions contained in some previous reviews (static, hissing, limited volume capability, missing cords or manual, poor input from auxiliary sources, destroying tapes). None of these flaws has been present for me with this small but sturdy unit, which I have thoroughly tested in all these regards. If any breakdowns spontaneously occur hereafter, I will report same as long Amazon continues to sell this unit/carry related customer reviews.

I am extremely happy I bought this. SOUNDS great !!!! Cassette player, no motor sound or any buzz CD, clear Radio, I can get the stations I want and was surprised that I could get one station that most radios have a hard time getting. You can see its small, perfect size Easy to carry, easy to use Now all my cassette have a home again. Thank you Sony

We were looking for nothing fancy, just a small radio which could play some of our old cassettes and CDs. We also wanted something It also needed to work during periods of prolonged internet and cell outages or which we could take when we were in areas with no service. Until then we will use it play some tapes and CDs that are not otherwise available.. While it is not great, the sound is fine, especially, for an inexpensive device. It only took a few minutes from unboxing to playing music. The only shortcoming is its use of 6 C batteries, which are getting harder to find.
