Easily carried 5 Bikes
We have 5 Bikes total. 2 Adult Mountain Bike, 2 youth BMX and 1 kid BMX bike. Everything fits on this perfectly. It took me about 35 - 45 minutes to load 5 bikes on my first try and all the bikes are at a different angle. So, I thought that I will need stabilizer bar due to the springs on the 2 mountain bikes. plus the youth bike have a shorter body. But I realized that you can turn the grips so that you can put all the bike on a level orientation. What I did next is I removed all the bikes. Practice on each one just on the first mount. This makes it easier to find the proper orientation to install each bike properly. Then I rotated all the grip and strap sideways so that I can easily move the bikes all the way in starting from the heaviest to the lightest bike. Now I can load all 5 bikes in less than 10 minutes. I can say that in less than 15 minutes, I can install this on a hitch and load all the bikes and that is taking my time making sure everything is secured. I can probably do it faster if I have help as I am not a big strong person and the 2 adult bikes is a little heavy for me.

I fit 5 adult bicycles on this just fine. The rack is plenty strong to hold the bikes. I do load them in decreasing weight order, but I am having no trouble with the bars bending and these are adult sized beach cruiser bikes. You do have to play around with where to fit the rack's bars on the frame of the bikes. 4 of the bikes are the 'women' style and I don't need to add any additional bars to get them to fit straight on the rack, just keep trying and you'll find the place where the bikes can be held by the racks without any additional bracer bar. Also, you need to alternate the bike direction, maybe that is why others are having trouble loading their bikes on the rack...

Great value
Not necessarily the most stylish bike carrier, but definitely sturdy and a great value. Fit great in the factory trailer hitch of our Chrysler Town & Country and carried our 5 bikes on a 200 mile trip for our summer vacation. Easy to get the bikes strapped down and secured. Folds down and folds out easily when the bikes are not on it. Not difficult to remove and store when not in use.

5 Adult Bikes FIT - I did it. It IS possible. (UPDATED 2/21/2019)
UPDATE (2/21/19): After traveling 9,000 miles over 60 days with 5 adult bikes on the back, this product held up fantastically! I am definitely a fan. All 5 bikes fit. I did it, and without ramming handle bars or pedals through spokes of other wheels. Not sure why others say it can't hold 5 bikes. The KEY HERE: modify orientation of the bikes. They can NOT all go straight left and right. They need to be stacked at different angles, using the different cross members of the bikes. That's why the straps can swivel around the bar. We are heading out on a long RV trip this summer and needed a 5-bike rack. We already had the Allen 4-bike rack, and it was awesome. This one took a little longer figuring out how to fit all 5 bikes (ALL ADULT BIKES!!), and when I did, I took pictures of everything and even made myself a tutorial on how to hook them up, so it's easy each time we pack up and move to the next location (every 2-4 days). See the attached pictures on how I put each bike on, the orientation, and how well they all fit together (Bike 1 is closest to vehicle). There are two downsides: 1) The handle bar of the first bike (closest to vehicel) hits the back wall of our RV. We'll have to get a little cushion to keep the handle from scratching/denting the RV 2) The first bike attachment is a little awkward. If you were to hook the bike on normally (parallel to ground), then you physically can not get the bike on the strap holder without pulling the tilting pin, and pivot the unit away from the vehicle. You would then strap on the bike (installing from the vehicle side), then rotate the unit back in place, replacing the locking pin. Just wierd. But I install my Bike #1 differently, so this is not an issue. Hope this helps others realize that it is possible to securely get all 5 bikes on the rack, tied down, and not have them mash each other either. If I have issues after 2 months of hauling them around the US, I'll update my comments. Otherwise, two thumbs up.

Very solid bike rack with one key positive
While I have only used this on one trip, I am very pleased with it. A friend bought a different brand and model at the same time and we both used them on a trip together. Side by side, he was wishing he had bought this one. It is sturdy, assembled easily, and uses a specific widening bolt that eliminates any wobble. This model uses tie down webbing straps as opposed to rubber straps. These are probably more cumbersome to attach and detach, but worked fine for their main purpose of keeping the bikes from falling off. The key difference between this one and my friend's was that the "cradles" on which the bike rail sits are able to be rotated around the metal pole. This was enormously helpful because we had some little kids bikes that did not have a long enough frame to stretch from pole to pole. He was not able to use the rack for his children's bikes. The rotating "cradles" allowed me to adjust how I attached the bike to the frame and to get a snug fit. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase.

Fantastic rack for the price.
Don't pay more to carry five bikes - this is all you need. I recently used this rack on my Toyota Venza during a 700-mile trip and it performed flawlessly. With zero noise, I frequently forgot it was hanging off the back of the car. There was no side to side movement and very little bounce over rough roads (using the supplied anti-wobble bolt). The locking pins for tilt and folding are solid and very easy to use. Since the whole assembly tilts backwards, accessing the tailgate was painless. Remember to press the power liftgate disable switch if you have one so the door doesn't try to open against the rack. The frame holders are flexible and rotate which makes securing odd shaped frames less difficult. The straps are sturdy and have sealed / melted ends to prevent fraying. It's good to know replacement parts are available on Amazon if one fails.

Solid & Stable Bike Carrier
Assembly & Installation was easy. Five bikes will fit, but you need to pre-plan practice your bike placement ahead of any trip. We were able to fit our 5 bikes (2 adult men's/ 2 adult step through / 1 kid) for our very long road trip (Southern California to Whistler, BC...round-trip) without any problems. With 5 bikes we did not notice any significant swaying. We also were able to tilt the hitch (with 5 bikes on) to access the back of our SUV. Five bikes are heavy and you will probably need a person to assist with the release lever while you slowly lower the bike rack to the tilt position. To make access easier to the rear of our 2007 Chevy Suburban via the glass hatch window, we loosened the goose neck and rotated the handle bar out of the way on the bike closest to the glass hatch so that we could fully open the glass hatch window. Did not have any issues with black residue from straps. To address security issues we used 2 bicycle cable locks. Overall, a solid and stable bike carrier.

Good product that appears to have addressed previous concerns.
Excellent product and well built. I mounted mine on a 2005 Honda Pilot and found the tilting mechanism to be both easy to operate and clears the opening of the hatch just fine. See pictures. I have a few observations to make, having read the reviews prior to purchase: 1. The rack does NOT fit toddler bikes. Our family currently has two adult bikes, one bike for an eight year old, and two bikes for twin five year olds. When mounting the bikes on this new rack, I discovered that the smaller twins' bikes would not fit at all. The good news is that they still fit inside the car and eventually will need bigger bikes that will mount on this carrier. 2. There is NO problem with black powder or residue rubbing off on your hands from the straps. I saw this complaint in several reviews, and perhaps this was an old design issue, but with the product I just received I had no such problems. 3. The rack has a structured loop for attaching a cable lock or other security solution. In a few of the reviews, customers seemed to have wisely made the suggestion that there should be some way of "locking" the bikes to the mounting rack, and I was pleased to see that mine arrived with the ability to do this. Conversely, the rack is only secured to the hitch only with a nut and bolt and my hitch lock does not fit the pre-drilled holes in the rack. So, I either need to buy another hitch lock or drill-out a larger diameter hole. In the end, with the bikes secured with cable locks and a U-lock, chances are the nut-and-bolt solution will be enough of a deterrent. So, I will likely just rely on the nut-and-bolt that came with the product, since the bolt was machined with a "shoulder" to best secure the mounting post to the hitch. Mounting the bikes does take some trial-and-error. Finding the right configuration is a bit of a puzzle, but not too daunting with some planning. All in all, this is a good product, functions as intended, and appears to be well-built. I will update if there are any issues, once I travel with this new mounting system.

Huge fan of this rack
After owning the Allen Sports rack for a couple of months now, I really can't think of anything I dislike about it! We loaded 5x 35lb adult mountain bikes on it and left them there for 7 days straight as we drove from Ohio to California. The only slight issue was that the salt on the winter roads caused a couple of very small rust spots to appear on the rack. The same salt caused the bike chains and brake discs to rust much more than the bike rack did. I previously bought (and subsequently returned) the much more expensive Yakima FullTilt 5. I found it time consuming and awkward trying to slide the bikes past the Anti-sway cradles on the Yakima. Here are my suggestions if you're planning to buy the Allen Sports Deluxe: 1. Don't exceed the specified weight capacity (5x 35lbs): Take your bathroom scales out to the garage. Weigh yourself, then weigh yourself again while holding your bike. Subtract the two numbers to get the weight of your bike. 2. Keep a couple of bungee cords handy. If you have only one bike mounted, you'll want to bungee the front wheel so it doesn't flip around as you go 80 down the freeway. 2. The tapered bolt that holds the rack to your hitch should be cranked tight with a wrench that has a long arm (allows you to get it tighter). If you get it nice and tight the rack won't wobble side to side. 3. Don't try to raise and lower the rack with bikes on it. The instructions are explicit on this point, and I wonder if folks who mention using a hammer to get the pins seated are trying to ignore this critical instruction. 5 bikes plus the rack itself is about 200lbs. You don't want to be lowering and raising 200lbs anyway! 4. Squeezing 5 bikes into a tight space is always frustrating. Try removing the seat posts from all the bikes and throwing them in the trunk. The seat posts and handlebars always seem to collide, so getting them out of the way will help. 5. If you're really having trouble getting the bikes to fit, you could loosen the headset bolt and rotate the handlebars so they are parallel with the bike frame.

I highly recommend:
Carried 5 bikes on a 380mile road trip and did very well. Rack is solid and I used a 2 to 1.25 inch reducer to attach to CRV factory hitch. Even at 80MPH the rack did not even move with that much weight. I highly recommend:
