I got a couple of these to test, and I don't see any difference between them and Cisco's own transceivers. So you can get the same functionality at a much lower cost by using these. The only hiccup I had was that I had to modify my config to get around Cisco trying to block third-party transceivers. I added the following commands in global config mode: service unsupported-transceiver no errdisable detect cause gbic-invalid Then they started working. You'll probably get warnings the first time you add those commands. Cisco cannot void the warranty on your switch for using these, no matter what they say. At any rate, they work great and they're cheap, so I'll be buying more of these the next time I need transceivers.

Awesome product, excellent quality. These transceivers work perfectly and have 100% compatibility with the Intellinet Layer-2 16 port web managed switch with 4 SFP ports (the reason I bought these - switch to switch backhaul). They operate at full speed, and are very high quality. The lock works perfectly and ensures a secure fit in the SFP slot! The RJ45 socket is nice and tight as it should be, ensuring a very good connection. I highly recommend these to anyone who wants a gigabit SFP port to function over Cat 6A RJ45 connections!

I purchased a total 7 of these units to support network camera installations at my wife's small retail business and at my home. For these installs, I had purchased 4 TP Link Smart Switches; and each switch unit had 8 POE ports plus 2 SFP slots. I used 6 of these Gtek SFP RJ45 Transceivers to connect 3 of the TP Link switches together in a serial manner to support a 24 network IP camera deployment at the retail business. The last Gtek transceiver will be used in the remaining TP-Link switch in my home network IP camera install. These Gtek transceivers work quite well, and they allow you to create one or two extra Ethernet ports on your network switches that have one or two SFP slots. Instead of the SFP slots using an optical fiber to ethernet transceiver, you simply plug and play one of these Gtek RJ45 transceivers, and you now have an extra Ethernet port. A very handy approach in many computer network installs.

The ASF85-24-X2-Cisco2 model worked perfectly in both my EnGenius Neutron EWS1200-52T and Amcrest AGPS9E8P-AT-96 (a.k.a. BV-Tech POE-SW802-DIN) switches. Now that I have changed from copper to fiber for the switch-to-switch connection, I have better electrical isolation between the PoE switch running my exterior IP cameras and my main switch in case of power spikes. As a bonus, I've had no heat issues with these SFPs like others have mentioned. They run nice and cool for me and I've had 0 dropped packets.

Bought to use with the Ubiquiti Edge Router ER-X-SPF. It plugged into the SPF port and is working perfectly as the WAN port to my cable modem.

I use these in my home network. Not requiring enterprise reliability, so taking a chance with an off-brand option. However, I have used this module for about 3 months, and so far, excellent performance/reliability. No complaints or issues whatsoever. The vendor, 10Gtek shipped promptly and packaged well. This product works perfectly and is significantly less expensive than enterprise-grade options.

Little module came in a in a box nice little protective box in hard plastic as well plugged it in and worked AAA score from me...... for the seller first time......will buy from most definitely again........Awesome awesome awesome. Wanted modulenext day Just because. Payed the extra cost and there it was in the afternoon perfect timing highly recommend the guy highly. Thank you sir nice video to

I bought 4 of these to connect a Cisco SG200-18 switch to two other switches: Cisco-SG300-18 and Netgear GS110TP POE. Both connections worked right away with no issues -- I powered down the switches to install the first one, but I did the second one with the switches powered up, so they are even hot-pluggable. The Netgear switch has dedicated SFP ports, while the CISCO switch shares them with ETH ports. After installing the SFP modules both switches correctly recognized the SFP ports (they show comboF instead of comboC). Like another reviewer pointed out, they do get hot during operation, but no more so than other electronics (for instance the cable modem, which is plastic, gets much hotter than these metal puppies), so that's a non issue for me. I would not have spent the money for OEM parts, but this vendor is reasonably priced and thus far I am very happy with the purchase. Will buy again from them if needed.

I tried using some older 3com gbics for 1000-Base-T and they didn't work even after the special commands to enable non-supported transceivers. So I ordered these hoping they would work. I got them last night, plugged them into the SFP ports and connected up the ports on my switches. Worked right away and now I have Gigabit networking for my Hyper-V live migration interfaces. If I hadn't already ordered some Cisco SFP modules from ebay, I would buy another pair of these.

Great quality. Didn't work with a Mellanox MCX-311 XCAT or MCX-312 XCBT network adapter so I'm returning. But the replacement did work great. Search for 10GTek's SFP to RJ45 Copper Module - 1000BASE-T Mini-GBIC Gigabit Transceiver for MEL MC3208411-T, up to 100m. It doesn't have the 10/100/1000 autonegotiation but I didn't need that capability anyway.
