First off, let me say that if you buy this item expecting audiophile quality sound you will be disappointed. But, for me, connecting it to my iPhone or MacBook via bluetooth (which is very simple) provides adequate sound quality which stays pretty much distortion-free even at higher volumes. But, let's face it, you're buying this speaker for the "cool" factor, and this is where it really delivers. This thing looks like a floating Death Star and is sure to get approving looks and comments from anyone who sees it. I've read some comments from others saying it was difficult to float the speaker on the base, but if you follow the instructions it's actually pretty easy. I can usually get it floating within 10 seconds or so. If there is a downside to the product, it's that it's a little pricy - I don't think it will have mass appeal unless the manufacturer is able to reduce the price somewhat. But I realize that this product is a result of Amazon's Launchpad initiative, so production is limited now, keeping manufacturing costs high. If the product is successful and can be produced in mass quantities I'm sure the price will go down. My only complaint, and it has nothing to do with the product at all, is that when the speaker arrived from Amazon it was obviously a "used" item since the cords were not wrapped properly, there were fingerprints on the orb and the warranty and loyalty cards were missing. To their credit, Amazon immediately offered to replace the product or give me 20% off the purchase price (which I took, since the speaker was perfectly fine). But someone at the Amazon warehouse needs to know enough not to pass off a used/returned item as new. Still, I'm happy with the prompt resolution of the situation.

Very cool speaker. Easy to get the hang of I have messed with some magnetic levitating speakers before this one by far sets up the easiest simply cup your hands bring straight down over magnetic base when you see all lights are on and you feel the invisible Shelf simply gently remove hands and enjoy Great Sound I have mine hooked up to my TV works great I had to buy Bluetooth adapter to run from TV to sync with this if you are having trouble getting it to sync make sure the device you are using has sound coming from it at the time mine did not hook up the first few times till I got it signaling with speaker works great very cool very happy with purchase. *** UPDATE 1/29/17 ** I'VE HAD IT ALMOST TWO WEEKS NOW, I'VE HAD IT LEVITATING NON STOP EXCEPT TO PLUG IN POWER OR TURN OFF. I HAVE IT HOOKED TO MY T.V. THRU A BLUETOOTH TRANSMITTER. SOUNDS GREAT & WORKS GREAT I'VE HAD ZERO PROBLEMS SO FAR. IT'S BEEN KNOCKED OF KILTER & SLAMS INTO THE BASE WHEN BUMPED NOW & THEN. BUT VERY EASY TO SET BACK UP. ** THIS IS AN HONEST REVIEW, I WAS NOT COMPENSATED OR GIVEN DISCOUNT FOR REVIEW ** (JUST A GREAT SPEAKER)

I'm a music head, or an audiophile if you will. It's a small speaker. However, it gets pretty loud surprisingly. It looks cool, it actually floats, and I'm NOT disappointed with the sound. Could it sound better? Sure, but for $100 it's pretty awesome. I will NOT be returning it (which I half expected to do based on sound quality) This would be a great gift for a star wars fan, a college kid, or someone like me who works from home and loves his music.

Very very cool! I am impressed with the looks of this product. Also, I wasn't expecting much from so small a speaker, but I was surprised at the quality and volumn of sound.

This was a gift for a 13th birthday for a Techie grandson. Surprisingly, no one at the party had seen one of these, and it was fascinating to the kids and parents. It is now well established in his bedroom, connected with his Echo for music and continuing to delight him. How nice to find such a unique and useful gift!!

I bought this for the levitation effect, which is continually mindblowing. I've had it for a couple of months at the office. Quite the conversation piece. It's one of those 'we're not in Kansas anymore' experiences, over and over again. One thing that I really like is that if you spin the globe in one direction or another, it will keep spinning at about 15 revolutions per minute forever. At least over a three day weekend. Using it with my iPhone as a speaker is just a plus. The sound is great. I've had it about two months, operating continuously since I bought it. Now I would like a big one, like three feet.

The speaker arrived exactly as the images looked. I admit I was a tad concerned since the images of the product appear to be computer mock ups; so if that is what is holding you back, you can rest easy. As many others have mentioned, the sounds quality is not stellar, but it was never meant to be. This is a display piece designed to look cool, not satisfy any audiophiles. With that said, it does put laptop speakers to shame easily and, with a little bit of EQ on your side, will sound pretty decent overall! The quickest fix I've found is just to increase the treble / cut the low-mids on your music player since this speaker is pretty mid-heavy. I've only had this speaker a day and bought it just for use at work, so I won't be using it to really crank out music and will not be a good resource for that aspect of a review. But, barring a malfunction which destroys the device happening in the future, I see no reason not to give it a good review and would recommend it to anyone who wants a fun speaker for a work area.

Such an awesome product if you're a nerd, even if you are not. Trust me you will be the most popular person in your office. I bought this for my husband but really kind of want to steal it lol
