beware of counterfeits, especially lot PA 0518

I purchased the platypack w/ toothbrush and flossers. That was great, so I ordered this pack of flossers. When I started using these, I realized that I'd received counterfeits. The flosser head isn't thin, due to the floss string protruding out the exterior side, which keeps the flosser from fitting between the tooth and the braces wire. That makes these counterfeits pretty much useless and even dangerous if you try to force it. See the attached images -- the red arrow points to the bump that comes out on the "spatula" end, and that keeps these from sliding under the braces wire, defeating the purpose of these flossers. Given all the other reviews, I don't know whether to rate this one 5 stars (for the product) or 1 star (for all the counterfeits on amazon). Another reviewer attached a letter warning about counterfeits in lot PA 0518, which is the marking on the fakes that I received. I'd recommend checking your order immediately upon receipt. If you got fake ones, I might also suggest letting the manufacturer know, from their website at platypusco.com, so that they can track and fix this counterfeit problem. The real platypus flossers are awesome. But unfortunately, amazon doesn't seem to be a completely reliable vendor.

A twenty-something year old female with frizzy hair, a ghost like complexion, bored eyes and braces, ahh...what a cruel joke. THANKFULLY my painful existence of teeth being forced off the bone, excessive flossing and teeth scrubbing has been made slightly easier! Forget weaving a plastic needle with floss tied onto the end in and out of my wires and teeth like I'm a pillow being made from grandma's dusty couch! I can FINALLY floss like a normal nerdy woman child again. Life almost has meaning again. Thanks Platypus. You're a true friend of the truly dorky.

Great for braces

Recommended by my dentist's hygienist, and thank goodness. This works because one end of the "Y" that holds the thread is thin enough to fit between the wire of my braces and my teeth. Sometimes the knot in the floss of the "Y" is a little big and catches on the wire, but for the most part, these work really well. I am so grateful for this invention. Before using this, it would take me 40 minutes to floss: With braces, in order to floss, my orthodontist suggested these plastic loops, that look like lassos, where you thread the floss through the loops, then thread the loop end in between my teeth, and under the wire. Then pull the loop through, grab the loose end of the floss, and floss between two teeth, then pull the floss all the way out, and rethread the loop and repeat. It's worth the cost.

The best way to floss with braces EVER

I LOVE these! I have always used floss picks, and never bothered with the long strands of floss, but when I got braces that didn't work anymore. At first I tried using the floss looping tools and the floss with the stiff end that my orthodontist gave me, but it was still a pain. My dentist suggested these, and they are AMAZING. They fit between my teeth and the wire so I can floss just as easily as before, and they have a little thing on the other end that is great for getting out food that gets stuck in the braces. I don't use anything else to floss!

Works great for Braces!

These work GREAT for braces. Glad i bought them. BUT quite expensive when I think of the flossers I purchased before braces for only $1 that did a great job as well. The mark up on these is crazy just because they can fit between your prices. Cannot wait to go back to the regular ones. I can buy 4 for the price of one of these.

Lifesaver for me

As a person who recently got braces, I've been searching for a brace-friendly flosser for some time. Unfortunately, most of them don't fit my teeth - some part of my braces are really close to my teeth, leaving little room for the flosser. When I got these Platypus flossers, I was really really impressed - they work perfectly for me! This is a true lifesaver for me. Now I can clean my teeth whenever I want without any trouble!

Best ortho flosser

A must for braces. Pricier but fits better. The prong that goes under the wire across your teeth is thinner than other competitors. Quit searching for alternatives, you might end up with something you cannot use.

Must have for anyone with braces.

These are a must have for anyone with braces. It's incredibly time consuming and difficult to threat floss with braces. When you have a teenager it's impossible. We ordered these for our teen to use with his braces and they work perfectly. Our teen has really good hygiene and actually brushes three times a day, but yuck was building up between the teeth. Our dentist warned this could lead to permanent white spots on his teeth when the braces were removed and recommended these flossers. They work perfectly and they are super easy to use. Since ordering and receiving our teen uses them everyday. You can't find them at local drug stores either. Excellent product!

Time saver

If you have braces and you hate flossing because you have to use a threader then these are for you! I found out about these about 6 months into my orthodontist treatment and I was angry that my primary dentist didn’t suggest these sooner. They allow me to floss twice daily instead of just at night because they’re easy to use around braces

Best Idea Ever

This is my second time having braces and I dreaded having to try to floss with those threaders. It takes 20 minutes to do your whole mouth. These bad boys make it so easy and quick! I wish they were a tad cheaper but they are worth the money because of how much time they save! Wish I could but in a greater bulk!
