Perfect valve-guard!

Not only does this valve-guard protect your horn from the damage your sweat and skin oil can do to the laquer, but it also makes holding the horn so much more comfortable! I'd recommend this to any level trumpet-player. Fit both my imported horn and my spouse's domestic horn perfectly.

Great protection for trumpet finish

Just installed this on Kanstul trumpet. Great product- MUCH better protection from hand acids to finish than previous valve guards I have installed. Having had significant loss of silver finish on 2 previous trumpets and hand contact areas- this is a great improvement. I am going to install on my other 2 Schilke instruments as well!

Wonderful!

I really am enjoying the valve guard. The leather feels great, fits in my hand nicely and covers EVERY ANGLE my hands are in contact with the instrument.

Great but it is a bit wonky around the third valve slide.

Let me get this straight, this product is great and is exactly as advertised. The leather is a of a surprisingly good quality. The one problem I have with it it is the way it fits around my third valve slide (able to see in second picture). It’s fits strangely and makes it slightly uncomfortable to hold. It’s an easy adjustment though. It was advertised to “fit most C and Bb trumpets”. Most being the keyword. Who knows, your tuning and 3rd valve slides might be positioned differently than mine. Overall though it is a great product.

Doesn't fit cornet, but great for trumpet

I bought it hoping it might fit my new Thomann CR 400 cornet. But it doesn't fit the cornet at all. So I use it on my old 1955 Conn Victor 22B trumpet. Gives a nice grip, and preserves what's left of the lacquer job.

Comfort!!! Yesssss!!!

Why did I never have one of these before? This leather guard make handling my trumpet so much more comfortable. Not as great on a hot day but that’s to be expected. Leather is nice and soft and was easy to put on after you figure it out.

Quality Valve Guard

I've had the same Schilke leather wrap on my trumpet for literally 30 years... it was past time to get a new one. My previous wrap left the metal where the 3rd valve meets the 3rd valve slide exposed and my fingers resting on there over the years has really worn down and corroded the metal severely. In shopping around, this Pro Tec wrap was the most complete coverage I could find, including a really good leather flap that fully covers that area and manages to do it without impeding the motion of the 3rd valve slide. This guard is really well made and the materials are quality and don't smell bad. My fingers don't touch the metal anywhere except the slides and valve caps, and the right hand pinky hook! My only issue is just a matter of me getting used to it - I realize I've been tucking my left thumb under the leadpipe all these years and now there is a leadpipe cover blocking my thumb. It doesn't seem to be an issue, but just something a bit different I'm getting used to. Overall, very happy with this purchase. Recommended.

Just what I needed to protect my new Yammie, don't want it looking like my 30 year old Strad. The extra coverage is perfect, protects the spots "normal" valve guards don't! Great price too!

Trumpet Valve Protection

This item is amazing in how it fits on a trumpet. Once you get it on, you can see that any way your hand could possibly touch the trumpet is now protected by this item. As soon as mine arrived, and I put it on my latest trumpet, I immediately went back to Amazon to order more for my other trumpets.
